Budweiser Made in America Festival Unveil 2015 Philadelphia Line-Up

BEYONCE AND THE WEEKND TO HEADLINE 2015 BUDWEISER MADE IN AMERICA FESTIVAL

While Jay-Z’s TiDAL is not exactly going as planned, one thing the rapper can rely on is the line-up for his Budweiser Made in America Festival is going to be a collection of artists to give everyone with a specific music taste a little something.

Today, the line-up for the 2015 Philadelphia edition of the weekend-long festival was unveiled and just like it was stated before, there are several artists to satisfy everyone’s music palette.

Headlining the festival will be Beyoncé, though she hasn’t put out any new music in a while, and The Weeknd, fresh off the success of his Fifty Shades of Grey Soundtrack songs.

Also on the line-up are Death Cab For Cutie, Modest Mouse, Nick Jonas, Metric, De La Soul, Future, and many more.

The complete list of artists heading to Philly in September can be seen below.

Proceeds from the two-day festival will benefit the United Ways in Greater Philadelphia, Southern New Jersey, and Lancaster County, PA.

Tickets for the festival will on sale to the general public next Monday, June 29, at 12:00 p.m. EDT. For those who are American Express Card Members, tickets will go on sale beginning tomorrow, June 25, at 10:00 a.m. EDT and will conclude on Sunday, June 28, at 10:00 p.m. EDT.

Marilyn Manson Brings Special Guests on Stage at Show

Remember how in 2013, a group of pre-teens playing heavy metal on the streets of New York caught the attention of everyone around them, eventually resulting in them signing a $1.7 million contract last Summer with Sony?

Well, the boys of Unlocking the Truth are back in action, or at least in the headline for getting the chance to perform on stage with a big time rock musician (though they were discovered by Eric Clapton’s drummer, Steve Jordan).

During a recent stop on his “Hell Not Hallelujah” tour in Philadelphia, Marilyn Manson invited the trio to join him on stage to sing Manson’s 1996 hit song, “The Beautiful People.”

Though they weren’t on stage playing their instruments, they were given the change to sing alongside Manson on the track.

Check out the fan shot video below.

Manson is currently in the middle of the “Hell Not Hallelujah” tour which will funnily enough wraps up on Valentine’s Day at the House of Blues in Las Vegas.

As for the guys in Unlocking the Truth, it was revealed in December they will be heading to Crew Stadium in Columbus, OH during the weekend of May 15-17, 2015 for Columbus’ annual Rock on the Range music festival (you know, “where rock lives”).

Unlocking the Truth will be playing alongside greats like Slipknot, Breaking Benjamin, Linkin Park, Judas Priest and of course Manson.

The Wonder Years to Celebrate Tenth Anniversary with Three Hometown Shows

image

It might be hard to believe, but The Wonder Years will be celebrating the tenth anniversary of being a band in 2015. In honor of their anniversary, or birthday, the group have decided to celebrate by performing three anniversary shows.

Like Brand New did in the past, The Wonder Years have decided that they will be performing one of their three recent albums (The Upsides, Suburbia, I’ve Given You All and Now I’m Nothing and The Greatest Generation) in its entirety each night of the celebration.

The shows will all take place in their hometown of Philadelphia at Union Transfer on Feb. 6, 7, and 8.

Tickets for the show will go on sale this Friday, Nov. 14 at 10:00 am EST.

Check out the band’s lengthy (we aren’t kidding) thank you to the fans and their plan for their tenth including which show will get which album performed.

“Damn. Ten years…for a band that was never planning to play a show, there are a lot of things to write here.

Things that can be said, things that should be said – Is thank you enough? Words are never really going to put it into perspective because The Wonder Years as you know it was never a thing that was supposed to happen. We were going to hang out for a day, maybe write a song or two for fun and then move on with our post-high-school lives. We had other bands. We were going to college. We had plans, but plans change. I remember after our first weekend tour, Kennedy saying something like “What if this band gets signed and starts touring full time?” We all laughed at him.

A few weeks ago, we got to stand in front of a crowd of 9,000 in Philadelphia and play songs we had written in basements and garages and places that were literally shut down for health code violations. It almost felt like we were crashing a party; like we didn’t belong where we were. It’s a feeling we’ve had a lot. We’re playing with people who are, for all intents and purposes; rock stars. I don’t mean that with any of the negative connotation it carries; I just don’t know what else you’d call Blink-182 or Metallica. These guys are rock stars and we’re the same idiots we’ve always been. We still feel closer to VFW Halls than we do arenas. I think we always will.

We’ve played 25 countries and 45 states. We had a record debut in the top 20 on Billboard’s Top 200 (albeit number 20. It still counts!), but some of our favorite memories are always going to be sleeping on strangers’ floors or lying about flat tires so that we could come to shows late after swimming in the ocean right off the highway.

So, we made it through ten unlikely years as a band and, god dammit, we’re going to celebrate.

We booked three back-to-back-to-back nights at Union Transfer in Philadelphia. The first night, we’ll play “The Upsides”, straight through. The second night, “Suburbia”. and the third, “The Greatest Generation”. Every night will also feature an encore (whether you want it or not) set of old songs and rarities. Chances are, we’ll play songs that we won’t ever play again, unless we make it to twenty years or something like that.

There will be three day passes if you want to attend all three nights or single day tickets if that’s more your vibe. We’re working on locking in some awesome other bands to celebrate with us and we’ve gotten discounted block rates for hotels for people that want to come from far away for the whole weekend (as mentioned above). We’re also planning to reprint some of our earliest merch designs and have other throwback-centric surprises planned for everyone.

Seriously, we’ve had such an incredible time building this with you for a decade now. We can’t say thank you, enough. It sure as shit wasn’t easy. We certainly fought for it, but you all fought with us every step of the way. We’re never going to forget having to hustle CDs to people at malls for gas money. We’re never going to forget playing your friend’s basement. We’re never going to forget every time a crowd sang along to a song we wrote in our parent’s houses halfway across the world. We’re never going to forget and we’re always going to be grateful.

Love forever, TWY”

Stream Both Days of Budweiser’s Made in America Festival

madeinamerica

Jay-Z and Budweiser’s third annual Made in America Festival has officially kicked off in Philadelphia with a laundry list of artists slated to take the stage at the first of two show. Tomorrow, the festival will be heading across the country to Los Angeles for its inaugural show slated to take place on the steps of city hall and the surrounding area of Grand Park.

For those not able to make it to Philly or Los Angeles, there’s no need to fear because the festival will be broadcasting several of the performances for those unfortunate people. Funny enough, it’s becoming the norm for high profiled festivals to do this, which is a welcome reprise for those who can’t make it or afford it.

To watch the shows as they happen, all you need to do is click here and you will be taken to the Made in America Festival’s website where the live stream will populate the screen.

To keep up with who’s performing on which date, you can find the line-ups for both Philadelphia and Los Angeles at those links.

Jay-Z’s Made in America Festival to Hit Los Angeles

madeinamerica

Rumors of Jay-Z and Beyoncé going out on tour might have been a little pre-meditated, but there is good news coming from Jay-Z’s team; his Budweiser Made in America Festival will once again be coming back, but this time it will be happening on two different coasts.

Today, HOV held a press conference in which he announced the plans to bring back the two-day festival, but unlike last year, the show will be held in two cities. One of the locations will be thee same place it was held last year, Philadelphia, while it was announced that the new location will be downtown Los Angeles.

The music mogul, along with the city’s mayor made the announcement today at City Hall that the festival in Los Angeles would run simultaneously with the one in Philadelphia which will take place during Labor Day weekend. According to reports, about 50,000 concertgoers are estimated to attend the downtown show. At the time of the announcement, no performers had been revealed,

Maybe this is where the Jay-Z Beyoncé rumor might have stemmed from. Early bird tickets for both events are currently on sale while the line-up will be revealed sometime soon.

The only concern the Los Angeles City Council is concern about is that the two-day festival, and the concertgoers, would be disruptive to the downtown residents.

It’s Los Angeles guys and you aren’t the only city to deal with concerts disturbing residents.

Drake Cancels Philadelphia Show

drake

Not a really good way to start a tour by already cancelling it before it’s even begun.

Last night, during his second official tour stop in Philadelphia as part of his Would You Like a Tour, Drake cancelled the performance just a mere hours before it was scheduled to begin.

Local website, Philly.com reports that at the time that the rapper decided to pull the plug on the show, fans had already entered the Wells Fargo Center for the show that night. Once everyone had been inside, the venue received the news of the cancelled show and had to notify the attendees about the cancellation.

A spokesperson for the venue issued a last-minute explanation or rather excuse for why the show had been canned before it even began. “Due to the elaborate nature of tonight’s show and an unexpected technical issue, Drake’s ‘Would You Like A Tour’ concert at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia has been postponed until Wednesday, December 18th.”

If that excuse sounds oddly familiar, it is quite similar to the original excuse that was given as to why Drake had decided to reschedule the entire tour last-minute last month.

But things have been looking less than optimistic for this tour since it was first announced. First the rapper re-schedules the entire tour for almost the same reason. Then rumors start circulating that he had kicked off opening act, Future after he spoke out against Drake’s new album. Future was stated as saying that Nothing Was the Same, the new album, “is full of hits, but it doesn’t grab you. They’re not possessive; they don’t make you feel the way I do.”

When Future and his legal team threatened a lawsuit, the rumor was dubbed just that, a rumor and now the cancellation of a tour date just an hour before it was supposed to go on.

Not only were the audience members surprised by the revelation of the cancellation, it looks like Drake’s other opening act did not get the memo either. Miguel took to Twitter last night saying, “Man, just found out, unfortunately tonight’s show in Philly is cancelled. Can’t wait to find out the rescheduled date and come back and rock.”

Instead of hiding out from the public, Miguel and his band did go to another Philadelphia location to give a show for those bummed about the cancelled show.
