Fall Out Boy to Induct Green Day into Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony is only a month away from happening and the committee behind the annual ceremony have revealed those artists who will be helping induct the “Class if 2015.”

Paul McCartney will introduce former band mate Ringo Starr while Stevie Wonder will do the honors for Bill Withers. Patti Smith will (posthumously) induct longtime friend Lou Reed while Peter Wolf will do the same for the Paul Butterfield Blues Band. John Mayer is set to pay tribute to Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble while Steve Cropper will introduce The “5” Royales.”

Fall Out Boy will get the honors of helping induct Green Day into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

But Green Day aren’t just getting inducted into the famed museum; they are also slated to perform at this year’s event. According to frontman Billie Joe Armstrong, coming to an agreement on which songs should be featured on the set list has become difficult, especially since the group would like to incorporate some of the songs that first got them noticed.

“It’s hard because there’s the Lookout years that are important to us. It would be nice to play something from those years that’s meaningful,” Armstrong told Rolling Stone.

Also set to perform at the ceremony are Dave Grohl, Joe Walsh, Tom Morello, John Legend, Jimmy Vaughan, and fellow “class of ’15” inductee, Ringo Starr.

When asked about his performance, the drummer revealed that he’s not sure what will happen.

“I told Paul [McCartney] that I’m not putting a band together. If he puts a band together, I’ll do ‘With a Little Help From My Friends,'” Starr told Rolling Stone.

If it seems like one set of members from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame “Class of 2015” is missing from the list, it’s because they are. As of now, there has been no information on who will be doing the honors of inducting Joan Jett and the Blackhearts into the club, because after all, that’s a huge honor in itself.

The Rock And Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place on April 18 at Cleveland’s Public House in Cleveland, OH while HBO will broadcast the event on May 30.

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2015 Nominees Announced

It’s that time of year again; the time when the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame announce the nominees for the class of 2015.

Among the 15 artists being considered for inclusion at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland are: Green Day, Nine Inch Nails, The Smiths, Lou Reed, Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, Kraftwerk, N.W.A., Sting, The Paul Butterfield Blues Band, The Marvelettes, The Spinners, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Chic, War, and Bill Withers.

In order for a musician to be considered for a nomination into the Hall of Fame, their first recording (or debut record) must have been released at least 25 years ago.

For Green Day and Nine Inch Nails, this is the first year that either band have been eligible for consideration. Green Day’s debut record 1,000 Hours and Nine Inch Nails’ Pretty Hate Machine were both released in 1989.

Unlike Green Day and Nine Inch Nails, The Smith have been eligible for years now, but this is the first time they have been nominated. Joan Jett & the Blackhearts as well as N.W.A have been nominated a total of three times now, while Kraftwerk have been nominated one time before.

Lou Reed was previously been inducted into the Hall of Fame as a member of Velvet Underground while Sting was inducted as a member of The Police.

Ballots will now be sent out to an international voting body of over 600 rock experts which include artists, historians, and music industry members. The top five nominees with the most votes will be inducted into the Hall of Fame in April 2015.

Fans can also vote on their worthy nominees with the “fan’s ballot” which accounts for one of the 600 ballots. Fans have until Dec. 9 to put in their votes over at RollingStone. com.

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Nominees Announced

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame announced today those lucky nominees for the class of 2014. This year’s list includes Hall and Oates, Nirvana, The Replacements, KISS, Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Chic, Deep Purple, Peter Gabriel, LL Cool J, N.W.A, Link Wray, the Meters, Linda Ronstadt, Cat Stevens, Yes and the Zombies.

The lucky nominees that get the most votes by the end of the voting period will get the honors of being inducted into the hall of fame. For the second year, the public has been given the chance to also vote alongside artists, historians and music industry insiders of the Rock Hall voting body.

For those that would like to have their voices heard and vote for their favorite nominees, Rolling Stone’s website is currently playing host for the public. According to Rolling Stone, “the top five acts will comprise a “fan’s ballot” that will count as one of the more than 600 ballots that determine the Class of 2014.” Fans have until December 10 to get their vote included in those ballots.

To be eligible for this year’s ballot, those that ended up on the bill had to have released their first single or album in 1988 or earlier than that. If some of the nominees look like they have been nominated once before, many of them have had the honor bestowed on them before.

While some may have seen the ballots once before, some of the nominees such as Nirvana, Peter Gabriel, Hall and Oates, the Replacements, Linda Ronstadt, Link Wray, Cat Stevens, Yes and the Zombies are getting their names on the ballots for the first time. For those the feel like arguing about Peter Gabriel then yes, he was inducted in 2009 as a member of Genesis.

On a side note, Nirvana is the only act this year to land on the ballot during their first year of eligibility. Their cover of “Love Buzz” by Shocking Blue was their first single, hitting stores in late 1988.
