Last night, sad news was reported that Scary Kids Scaring Kids frontman Tyson Stevens had passed away.
Up until this morning, there was no confirmation about the singer’s passing, but Coma Prevail, Steven’s new band, confirmed the sad news in a post on Facebook.
On the social media account, Coma Prevail wrote: “Unfortunately the rumors are true. Out of respect for the family we will post details soon. Thank you.”
While the confirmation had not been made until hours after the headline hit the web, many tweets had begun to populate online from friends of the band and individuals showing their respect for Stevens. According to a source who spoke with Alternative Press, Stevens was found dead in his home in Tucson, but like Coma Prevail wrote, out of respect, we will wait for a confirmation from them and the family.
Scary Kids Scaring Kids called it a day back in 2009 when all members decided, mutually, that the band has run its course.
In honor of Stevens and this sad turn of events, here’s one of our favorite songs from Scary Kids Scaring Kids that would have been on several of our high school mixtapes (mixed CDs?).

Hanneman’s death comes after a long ordeal that was brought on by a spider bite. Yesterday, the band posted on their site a little bit of information about Hanneman’s situation:

The letter also revealed that even though Hanneman was looking forward to rejoining the band soon, he had also told them that “he need [ed] to take more time to continue his rehab.”
In what has to be one of the saddest news of the day, Chi Cheng, the bassist for the Deftones has passed away at the age of 42. His family released a statement on the charity website that they had made in honor of the late musician’s memory (OneLoveForChi.com) where they let the fans know of his passing early in the morning.
“Our dearest Family,
This is the hardest thing to write to you. Your love and heart and devotion to Chi was unconditional and amazing. I know that you will always remember him as a giant of a man on stage with a heart for every one of you. He was taken to the emergency room and at 3 am today his heart just suddenly stopped. He left this world with me singing songs he liked in his ear.
He fought the good fight. You stood by him sending love daily. He knew that he was very loved and never alone. I will write more later. I will be going through the oneloveforchi and any other information may not be reliable. If you have any stories or messages to share please send them to the onelove site. Please hold Mae and Ming and the siblings and especially Chi’s son, Gabriel in your prayers. It is so hard to let go.
With great love and “Much Respect!”
Mom J (and Chi)”
Cheng was injured in an automobile accident in Santa Barbara back in 2008, when his vehicle flipped three times after hitting another car going 60 MPH. Cheng was a passenger in the car and wasn’t wearing his seatbelt at the time which resulted in him being ejected from the car. He ended up being in a several-year long coma, but in 2010 showed signs of improvement including responding to commands and moving his legs,
Our prayers go out to Chi’s family, friends and bandmates.
