“All About That Bass” Gets Star Wars Treatment

nerdist

Star Wars once again made headliners yesterday with the revelation that Episode VII would now be titled, Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Of course, all the jokes about the name began, including our personal favorite, Star Wars: The Force Needs Its Cup of Coffee. Like with any revelation that big, a lot of fans not exactly excited about the choice of names (like they’ve ever been happy with any of the titles). But, leave it to The Nerdist to be able to take the negative reactions to the name and give them something funny in the form of a parody of a top 40 radio song.

Chris Hardwick and his crew at the Nerdist took Meghan Trainor’s infectious, pop song, “All About the Bass” and gave it the Jedi treatment rewriting the lyrics to fit the Star Wars world. Things like “Alderaan chunks where Alderaan space was…” and “We know that Sith ain’t real ’cause even I got chopped” replace the original lyrics of the song.

Check out the parody below because you know, “we’re all about that base…no rebels.”

5 Seconds of Summer Perform Fall Inspired Parodies of blink-182, Jay-Z

wpid-5_seconds_of_summer_2014.jpeg

5 Seconds of Summer have quickly become one of those bands that you either like or you don’t, much like their tour mates One Direction.

But, while you might think they are the “worst band in the world” at the moment and their music makes you “want to kill yourself,” they don’t seem to mind since they are probably laughing their way to the bank at the moment. (At least they don’t steal other people’s music and pass it off as their own.)

During their appearance on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, the Australian boys performed parodies of several songs, replacing the original lyrics with lyrics about everyone’s favorite season, Fall. Much thanks should go to Twitters user who contributed to the lyrics of the songs.

Check out the video below as they transform songs like blink-182’s “All the Small Things,” Jay-Z’s “99 Problems,” Nelly’s “Hot in Here,” and even their own hit, “She Looks So Perfect.” Got to have a sense of humor if you’re going to be some people’s latest punching bag.

Check out the video below.

While on the show, they also performed their new single, “Good Girls” from their self-titled debut album which was released back in July.

Fall Out Boy Becomes Westboro’s Latest Parody Inspiration

Fall Out Boy Visits fuse

Just when we thought we had heard the last of the Westboro Baptist Church after being owned by Panic! at the Disco a few weeks ago, the viruses are back, attempting to mock another one of our favorite bands.

This time, the latest band on their “hit list” is Fall Out Boy. The unofficial church and official disgrace to humanity announced their parody of the Chicago band’s hit song, “Thnks fr th Mmrs.” Their version of the song has been titled, “Thnk Gd fr Vrythng.” Of course it would have a scummy titled like that.

The parody comes as the WBC have announced plans to picket FOB’s show in Kansas City, MS, tomorrow (August 9). If memory serves right, this is the same place the parasites decided to boycott Panic! which resulted in only 100 picketers showing up and Panic! donating over $1000 to the Human Rights Campaign. This also led to the group releasing a limited edition tie-dye shirt with proceeds going to HRC.

We should also point out that they never really leave their little town of Kansas City to boycott. Coincidence, we think not.

Check out the lyrics below, if you want, and listen to the song here because we don’t want their homophobia to clutter our site.

The cords you cast and bands you break
(rage and imagine a vain thing)
Say a prayer but you won’t eat the roll
You think God doesn’t know?
Shut his people up, won’t make things right
‘cause it’s your wrongs that show you need the bread of life
“Who does he think he is?”
If that’s the way you think
then God Almighty’s your enemy

One God, one truth, one way
Thank God for everything
To the Lord our praises sing
“His word like honey, only sweeter,”
He wounds, heals, makes alive and kills
Thank God for everything, Thank God for everything
“The voice of God breaketh the cedars”

Look close at your eternal future
But your eyesight is goin’ bad
You’re headed to Hell
Follow your lusts and us ignore
Your time to repent (repent will pass)
The chaff he’ll fan (chaff he’ll fan)

One God, one truth, one way
Thank God for everything
To the Lord our praises sing
“His word like honey, only sweeter,”
He wounds, heals, makes alive and kills
Thank God for everything, Thank God for everything
“The voice of God breaketh the cedars”

You think abomination has some strength in numbers?
Like that Great Whore, paying all her lovers
His word is out of mind and His hatred only grows
Instead of obeying God, your filthy sins you pursued, whoa

One God, one truth, one way
Thank God for everything
To the Lord our praises sing
“His word like honey, only sweeter,”
He wounds, heals, makes alive and kills
Thank God for everything, Thank God for everything
“The voice of God breaketh the cedars”

One God, one truth, one way (One God one truth one way)
Thank God for everything
To the Lord our praises sing
“His word like honey, only sweeter.” (Oh)

One God, one truth, one way (One God one truth one way)
Thank God for everything, Thank God for everything (Thank God for everything, Thank God for everything)
“The voice of God breaketh the cedars” (Oh)”

Hasn’t the Westboro learned their lessons yet? They are never going to win this battle/war against these artists.

weird-al-yankovic-mandatory-fun

“Weird Al” Yankovic’s new album Mandatory Fun will reportedly take the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 and pretty much every other chart in the coming week. The record has already produced several songs which parody many of today’s biggest pop hits. As part of the promotion of the new album, Yankovic decided to release eight music videos in eight days and now we have the most of the videos.

In honor of the comedian taking the throne from other musical acts, we have put together all of the songs from the upcoming album that have been released in the last week so you can enjoy them this weekend and think about just how Yankovic has never had a number one album in the past and had to wait until 2014 to do so.

“WORD CRIME”// Parody of Robin Thicke’s “BLURRED LINES”:

“FOIL”// Parody of Lorde’s “ROYALS”:

Westboro Baptist Church Post Panic! at the Disco Parody

image

Well, we know we should have seen this coming especially after the Westboro Baptist Church told us they would do this.

Yesterday afternoon, the religious freaks that we all utterly dislike and disagree with (and wish would abducted by vicious aliens), released their parody of Panic! at the Disco’s breakthrough song, “I Write Sins, Not Tragedies” from their debut album, A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out.

Their parody, if you wish to call it that, not surprisingly comes just a few days before the show that the WBC announced they would be picketing; Kansas City, Missouri on July 20.

The attempted song is titled “You Love Sin What a Tragedy.” What a way to bring up publicity for you lackluster petition and “mission.”

If you want to listen to it and lose a couple of brain cells in the process, head on over here, though we are sure you should just read the lyrics and not condone their immature antics.

Lyrics:

Oh, they imagine
Such a vain thing, the God of the Bible’s no more
And it’s not a sin they cheer
Pushing vile affection with great swelling words
“Being gay is a blessing! What a beautiful wedding!” says the fag’s mom to a hater

And the whole crowd has no shame, what a shame, they’re all fags, fag pimps or whores

We chime in with a
Haven’t you people ever heard of obeying the Word of God?
No, you all rebel against the King of Kings
With a sense of pride and immorality

We chime in
Haven’t you people ever heard of obeying the Word of God?
No, you all rebel against the King of Kings
With a sense of…

Oh! You all say
It’s okay to be gay
The way to fag marriage has been paved
Well this calls for some truth, now

You’re all insane

Oh! You all say
It’s okay to be gay
Because practically fag marriage will stay
Well this calls for some truth

You’re all insane, fags are profane

We chime in with a
Haven’t you people ever heard of obeying the Word of God?
No, you all rebel against the King of Kings
With a sense of pride and immorality again

We chime in
Haven’t you people ever heard of obeying the Lord your God?
No, you all rebel against the King of Kings
With a sense of pride and immorality

We chime in
Haven’t you people ever heard of obeying the Lord your God?
No, you all rebel against the King of Kings
With a sense of pride and immorality again

Watch 50 Cent Go All ‘MaleFiftyCent’

male_50_cent_640

50 Cent was probably the worst person in the history of the MLB to throw out the first pitch at a game, but even the rapper got a laugh out of it, claiming his crappy pitch was due to “extensive masturbation.”

Now, the rapper is back with something new for fans and haters a like that is also very funny, his own version of the box office’s hit film, Disney’s Maleficent starring Angelina Jolie. His parody, titled MaleFiftyCent, was all for Jimmy Kimmel’s late night show, Jimmy Kimmel Live.

With a tagline like “Get witch or die trying” and the hip-hop remixed version of the story, of course all we can do is sit back and laugh.

James Franco and Seth Rogen Recreate Kanye West Video

BOUND-FRANCO-ROGEN

We don’t like speaking about those K-people here, but something funny involving the one who launched them into fame and their counterpart, Kanye West happened today.

A few weeks ago, Kanye released a video for “Bound 2” which feature him riding a motorcycle and his baby-mama/fiancée, Kim Kardashian riding, naked, on the front of it. Fast forward a few weeks later and two clowns decided to remake the music video for the enjoyment of their fans and pretty much everyone else.

Now who are those two clowns that spoofed on Yeezus‘ video you might ask? Well, leave it our favorite Renaissance man, James Franco and Seth Rogen.

This morning, the video hit the web after Franco posted the video along with the following message attached, “While on the set of their movie, The Interview, James Franco & Seth Rogen felt inspired to recreate their favorite new video. Shot. For. Shot.”

And that they did. Franco took on the role of West while a very hairy Rogen took on the role of Kardashian in the parody. Believe us they definitely did stick to their “shot for shot” goal.

Instead of reading about how funny the video is, watch the Pineapple Express co-star cover Kanye better than Kanye.

Sesame Street Takes on ‘Sons of Anarchy’

soa

Recently, Sesame Street has been getting major props for their parodies of pop culture including Daft Punk’s Get Lucky which became a huge hit a few months back. Today, the famous puppets are back to take on FX’s hit biker gang show, Sons of Anarchy.

In the video Jax, Clay, Tig and the rest are depicted as Muppets which are called, Sons of Poetry. The Muppet bike gang heads on over to help any unsuspecting person that’s in need of a good rhyme (hence the name). In a nod to the show that they are parodying, the use lines such as “Relax, Jax!” and “Whatever you say, Clay!”

Sesame Street will returning for their new season on September 20 on PBS while Sons of Anarchy returns to FX on September 10.
