Blink-182, Weezer, and Limp Bizkit to headline Inkcarceration 2020

Inkcarceration_2020_header.jpgIs it just us, or are the 90s making a full comeback?

If you’re shaking your head, not quite sure what we mean, all you need to do is take a look at the current state of fashion or the lineup for the 2020 incarnation of Ohio’s Inkcarceration Festival.

On Wednesday (Dec. 18), the people behind the annual rock-centric music and tattoo festival unveiled their lineup for their third annual event.

Headlining the three-day festivities are Blink-182, Weezer, and Limp Bizkit (yes, Limp Bizkit).

Joining Blink-182, Weezer, and Limp Bizkit on the 2020 roster will be Papa Roach, Halestorm, Mastodon, Underoath, Atreyu, New Politics, All That Remains, We Came as Romans, The Devil Wears Prada, New Years Day, Escape the Fate, and many more.

According to a press statement, additional bands will be unveiled at a later time. Over 40 groups will reportedly take over one of two stages during the weekend-long gig.

Because this is a music and tattoo festival, festival organizers also revealed that 60 tattoo artists will be on hand to give concertgoers some new ink.

In addition to the killer musical lineup and tattoo artists, the event will also include tours of the Ohio State Reformatory (aka the Shawshank prison), gourmet food trucks, drinks, and the return of the popular haunted house attraction, Escape from Blood Prison.

Talk about celebrating Halloween in July.

Inkcarceration 2020 will return to its home at the Ohio State Reformatory in Mansfield, Ohio, during the weekend of July 10-12.

Tickets for Inkcarceration 2020 are currently available for purchase here.

Metallica, Disturbed, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and more to play Epicenter 2020

Epicenter_2020_header.jpg

We may be suffering from a severe case of the winter blues, but that’s not stopping us from daydreaming about the warm weather and all the music festivals that come with it.

On Tuesday (Nov. 19), the masterminds behind some of the best rock-centric music festivals in the United States announced the lineup for the 2020 incarnation of North Carolina’s Epicenter. Let’s just say, it’s going to be EPIC (yes, we did use a pun).

As previously announced, Metallica will headline not one, but two of the three days (Friday, May 1 and Sunday, May 3). According to Metallica, they will perform two different setlists, so no, you won’t hear “Enter Sandman” on both nights.

“We’re headlining in Charlotte, NC with 2 different sets,” the band tweeted.

Metallica’s appearance at Epicenter is part of an exclusive deal with Danny Wimmer Presents. The joint venture, which was announced last month, will find the iconic metal act headlining all five of the promoters’ hard rock festivals in 2020.

“Metallica isn’t just another headliner. When Metallica takes the stage, it’s an event. It’s an experience. That’s the same standard we’ve set for every DWP festival – from the first band to the last band, and everything that happens in between. I can’t wait to bring the biggest band in the world to the biggest rock festivals in America,” says Danny Wimmer, founder of Danny Wimmer Presents.

“Metallica paved this road that we travel. How many artists on the bill at these five festivals first picked up an instrument, or first started a band, because of Metallica?”

The massive lineup will also feature an exclusive 2020 North Carolina performance by Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Disturbed, Deftones, Godsmack, Volbeat, Staind, Papa Roach, David Lee Roth, Gojira, Chevelle, Cypress Hill, Rancid, Royal Blood, Anthrax, Dropkick Murphys, I Prevail, Alter Bridge, and many more round out the next year’s roster.

In addition to the massive lineup, Danny Wimmer Presents also revealed that Epicenter will move to the Charlotte Motor Speedway. According to a statement, the relocation was one of the biggest requests from fans.

“We’re pleased to announce that Epicenter is moving to Charlotte Motor Speedway’s Rock City Campgrounds,” says Danny Wimmer Presents CEO Danny Hayes.

“The new location offers plenty of nearby lodging, increased camping, and convenient travel options. The number one request we received from the fans was to move the festival to Charlotte, …and we listened.”

Epicenter 2020 will take place during the weekend of May 1-3 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway’s Rock City Campgrounds in Charlotte, North Carolina. Tickets for the weekend-long event are currently on sale.

The full lineup can be found below.

waynestaticsolo2014_638

Fans of Static-X were hit with some hard news late last night when it was confirmed that frontman Wayne Static (Wayne Richard Wells) has passed away. The singer was only 48 years old.

The news was confirmed directly by Well’s publicists at FiXT Publicity. The metal singer leaves behind a wife, Tera Wray, who he married in January 2008.

As of now, a slew of artists have taken to Twitter to write their condolences including members of Papa Roach, System of a Down, Chevelle, Ozzy Osbourne, Dave Navarro and many more.

At the present time the cause of death has not been released. Wells was scheduled to hit the road with POWERMAN 5000 and Drowning Pool on a month-long United States tour beginning Nov. 6 in Waterloo, IA and then next year head across the pond to tour England and Russia.

Read some of the tweets from friends of Wells below:

Jacoby Shaddix (PAPA ROACH): “RIP Wayne…. This is so sad. Too many musicians are dying from overdoses. I’m serious, addiction is real and takes fools out. No one is invincible. So glad I live a sober life today. The number of friends that I have lost to addiction is crazy. If you are struggling with addiction, get some help before it’s too late. I know drugs and partying are part of the ‘rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle,’ but damn, how many more gotta die??? Fuck the lifestyle, I want life!!!! See you on the other side, Wayne….”

Billy Corgan (SMASHING PUMPKINS): “I am shocked to hear that Wayne Wells (Wayne Static) has passed away. I played with him in his first band, DEEP BLUE DREAM, in 1987/88. He was a real gentleman, and loved music (and KISS, Ace in particular). Even had his the hood of his car painted with the KISS logo.”

Corey Taylor (SLIPKNOT, STONE SOUR): “I am absolutely devastated to hear about Wayne Static‘s death. A good man and a good friend. My thoughts are with his family and friends.”

Ozzy Osbourne: “Very sad to hear of Wayne Static‘s passing. Spent a lot of time together on Ozzfest tours. A tragic loss. Love to his family/friends.”

Chris Kael (FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH): “Thoughts go out to the friends and family of Wayne Static. May his life inspire others to make a change in their own lives — today.”

Clint Lowery (SEVENDUST): “My heart goes out to the family and loved ones of Wayne Static. He created some cool music with his time on earth. Stay safe out there y’all.”

Aaron Lewis (STAIND): “My heart goes out to Wayne‘s family. He was my friend. Many shows and tours together. I’m stunned and shocked. RIP my dear friend #speechless”

Jonathan Davis (KORN): “Rest in peace, Wayne. I’m speechless right now. I’m losing too many of my friends. I’ll see you on the other side, brother.”

Johnny Kelly (DANZIG, TYPE O NEGATIVE, KILL DEVIL HILL): “Very sad to hear that Wayne Static passed away. Always a nice guy. Gone too soon.”

John 5 (ROB ZOMBIE, MARILYN MANSON): “Very saddened to hear that Wayne Static has passed away in his sleep. I performed with Wayne for our friend Nancy Sayle‘s ‘Rock Against MS’ show in 2013 and worked with him for his track ‘Cannibal’ in 2007. My thoughts are with his wife and family and friends.”

Brian Fair (SHADOWS FALL): “Saddened by the news of Wayne Static‘s passing. Too many people I have toured with have been dying way too young. RIP.”

Cristina Scabbia (LACUNA COIL): “Shocked. Waking up with the horrific news someone you knew died is the worst feeling in the world… R.I.P. Wayne.”

Fred Durst (LIMP BIZKIT): “RIP Wayne Richard Wells. His contributions are timeless.”

Jeremy Spencer (FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH): “What a shame. R.I.P. Wayne Static.”

Jason Hook (FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH): “So sad. Wayne Static of STATIC-X just passed away. RIP brother.”

David Ellefson (MEGADETH): “This is just horribly sad news. I have such great memories of our tours together over the years. Wayne was truly an originator, innovator and milestone contributor to metal music. My condolences to the STATIC-X organization and family.”
