All Time Low, Silverstein, New Found Glory lead first wave of Slam Dunk 2019 bands

The new year hasn’t even started, but one music festival is already getting ahead of the curve by announcing their first wave of artists. On Wednesday (Oct, 17), the United Kingdom’s Slam Dunk Festival formally unveiled the first set of musicians who will head across the pond during the final weekend of May 2019.

All Time Low, NOFX, New Found Glory, and Silverstein are just some of the eight bands confirmed for the music festival.

“There’s been a bit of an ATL drought in the U.K. recently, so we thought it best to come back,” frontman Alex Gaskarth said about the band’s return to the Slam Dunk stage. Previously performing at the 2013 incarnation of the two-day event, All Time Low aren’t the only Slam Dunk Festival veterans returning next year.

Florida-based pop-punk rockers New Found Glory last hit the festival’s stage in 2010 while Canadians Silverstein last performed at Slam Dunk in 2009.

“We are excited to be returning to the U.K. in 2019 for the next installment of Slam Dunk,” the Ontario-founded band said in a joint statement.

“We originally played the festival way back in 2009 and have been looking forward to doing it again. Expect a jam-packed set of old and new material.”

In addition to the returning bands, the lineup will also include Waterparks, Mad Caddies, local hardcore punkers Gallows, and Story of the Year.

Story of the Year’s inclusion on the lineup comes a year after the group released their first post-hiatus album, Wolves.

“We are crazy stoked for Slam Dunk, especially since we haven’t been to the UK in ages,” said Story of the Year guitarist Ryan Phillips.

“We’re itching to get over there and jam some tracks from our latest album, Wolves.”

Tickets for Slam Dunk Festival 2019 go on sale this Friday, Oct. 19, at 9 a.m. local time.

The weekend-long music festival will take place on Saturday, May 25 and Sunday, May 26. The first day of the festival will take place at its new Leeds home of Temple Newsam Park while the second day will place at Hatfield Park in Hertfordshire.

First annual Ye Scallywag! festival to launch in California

Scalleywaglogo

If you were ever referred to as a scallywag as a kid, and loved it, there might be a way for you to continue to be one as an adult. On Monday (Aug. 29), Synergy Global Energy, Brew Ha Ha Productions, and radio stations 91X and KFM-BFM announced the first ever Ye Scallywag! festival. The one-day, California-based event will feature performances by NOFX, Against Me!, and Bad Religion while also giving attendees a large array of craft beer, wine, and food.

“Scallywag! will be unlike any legitimate craft beer or wine event ever produced,” explains Ye Scallywag! co-producer Cameron Collins of Brew Ha Ha Productions. “We are bringing in some of the most sought after and award-winning breweries in the country as well as some incredible wineries from Paso Robles, the Napa Valley, Central Coast, and beyond all set to the music of artists like Bad Religion. We’ve really got something special here!”

“Ye Scallywag! will be the perfect San Diego event to make one truly grateful for this wondrous California lifestyle,” adds 91X’s Halloran. “The craftiness of the beer, wine, food, and bands will prove that indeed, San Diego has the best. I am looking forward to an amazing day.”

Mirroring their sentiments, Fat Mike of NOFX adds: “When I started NOFX in 1983, I dreamed of being a scallywag one day, at least by the time I was 50. Well, not only am I a scallywag, but I’m also playing the scallywag festival! PS: What’s a scallywag? Is that like being a pirate?”

Ye Scallywag! is set to take place on Saturday, Oct. 22, at Waterfront Park in San Diego, CA. The event will feature over 100 craft breweries and artisan wineries while the music portion of the event will kick off at noon. All tickets include beer and wine tasting and access to the BMW of Escondido Main Stage for live music.

Pre-sales for the event will begin on Tuesday, Aug. 30 and will end on Thursday, Sept. 1. General ticket sales will then begin on Friday, Sept. 2 at 10 a.m. PST. As noted on the website, the one-day music festival is for those who are 21 and over. For more information about Ye Scallywag!, head on over to their website here.

NOFX Call Out “Beardo” Hipster at Show

images

We know that everyone has a problem with hipsters nowadays for some really unknown reason (yes, we know it’s probably their pretentiousness and narcissists tendencies), but, apparently just the mere presence of a hipster at a recent show had the guys from NOFX a little more than annoyed.

During their warm-up banter at the Halifax, Nova Scotia stop of the ‘Fat Wrecked for 25 Years’ tour, guitarist El Hefe noticed a guy, right in front of the stage wearing a tie-dyed shirt who didn’t seem to be enjoying the banter on stage. Apparently, just his presences was irritating frontman Fat Mike to the point that he even offered the “beardo” money to leave the show.

“Yeah, you know what? You have no business being here. I will pay you $100 to leave this show,” said Fat Mike.
“Are you going to stand in front and bother me all day with your fucking tie dye shirt and your beard?” he continued.

Instead of taking the money, the guy decided to stand his ground, so Fat Mike did the only thing he could do; he “bought” the shirt from the guy for $20.

Fun Fun Fun Fest Announce 2015 Line-Up

image

It’s official, music festival season is upon us.

After last night’s rapid-fire release from Riot Fest, we thought we would be able to recuperate before another festival would give us their line-up, but Fun Fun Fun Fest had other plans.

Earlier today, the Austin-based music festival released the complete list of artists who will be heading to Texas at the beginning of November for the weekend-long festivities which will also mark its tenth anniversary (or birthday).

The line-up includes acts like: D’Angelo, CHVRCHES, ScHoolboy Q, NOFX, American Football, Conor Oberst’s Desaparecidos, and a couple of artists who appear to be heading out on the music festival circuit this year, Wu Tang Clan, Coheed and Cambria, and Dwarves.

Jane Addiction and Gogol Bordello are also slated to appear. Each band will be performing an album in full; Jane Addition will perform 1990’s Ritual de lo Habitual while Gogol Bordello will perform 2005’s Gypsy Punks.

Check out the poster below for the complete list of bands/performers.

NOFX’s Fat Mike Knocks Fan Out During Show

nofx

Usually when a musician tells you that they are in pain, but will continue to play a show for you, that should be your cue to not do anything stupid to them.

Apparently, a NOFX fan learned that the hard way during a show down under.

NOFX were performing at the Enmore Theater in Sydney when a fan jumped on the stage. The fan, who has been identified as Alex, jumped on stage and put his arm around Fat Mike’s neck; where all his pain was. So, normal human reflect kicked in and Fat Mike punched and then kicked him down to the floor. The fan was then taken off stage by two securities, as can be seen in the video below.

But, that’s not where the story ends. Alex took to Twitter after the incident and apologized to Fat Mike about what he did. He admitted that he was drunk and forgot Fat Mike had mentioned the pain in his neck.

Check out the exchange below.

But as always there are people who are saying the punch and kick were uncalled for. We have to wonder if they would be OK and oh so gracious with someone grabbing onto their neck while they were in pain or if they would do that same thing.

Riot Fest Announce Final Album to Be Played in Full

riotfest

When Riot Fest announced that this year would mark the festival’s tenth anniversary and their plans to make it an anniversary to remember, they told fans and future attendees that ten of the acts would be playing one of their hit albums in full.

Until now, the acts that had been confirmed to be doing this would include, The Offspring (Smash), Samhain (Initium), Weezer (The Blue Album), The Descendants (Milo Goes to College), Naked Raygun (Throb Throb), Jane’s Addiction (Nothing’s Shocking), Slayer (Reign in Blood), NOFX (Punk in Drublic), and the Get Up Kids (Something to Write Home About).

To keep fans intrigued, festival organizers have waited until today to reveal the last act and their album.

It’s Cheap Trick performing Heaven Tonight.

Riot Fest Announce Bigger Tenth Anniversary News

image

With the insane line-up that has already been revealed for all three Riot Fests, now comes word that things will get even more awesome in September;  ten of the band will perform their classic albums, in full.

Earlier this week when The Offspring had been rumored to be performing at the weekend-long festivals, which had later been confirmed as true, the band revealed they would be playing their hit album, Smash in full.

The other bands that will be doing the same can been seen below:

Weezer—The Blue Album

Jane’s Addiction—Nothing’s Shocking

The Descendents—Milo Goes to College

The Get Up Kids—Something to Write Home About

Slayer—Reign in Blood

The Offspring—Smash (we already knew)

NOFX—Punk in Drublic

Samhain—Initium

Naked Raygun—Throb Throb

If you counted over the list, you would notice that one band is missing, and no, it wasn’t a typo. Festival organizers are currently keeping that last one underwraps.

In a press release they stated, “[we] have promised to unveil it in a separate announcement in the upcoming weeks, as well as additional 10th anniversary surprise.”

We are beginning to get the feeling it might be The Cure performing Disintegration or another one of their hit albums in full.

Riot Fest Toronto will take place on September 6-7, Chicago will take place September 12-14 and Denver will take place September 19-21, so get your tickets now before they sell out.
