The Wonder Years teased all week that they would be releasing something big for fans on Friday and now, we officially know what that big surprise is; the music video for another new song off of their upcoming record.

Following the release of the music video for “Cardinals” last month, the Pennsylvania band has now premiered the music video for their second single, “Cigarettes & Saints.”

Check out the video for the second single off of No Closer to Heaven below.

No Closer to Heaven is set to be released on Sept. 4 through Hopeless Records. Pre-orders for the album are currently ongoing. Like reported before, a portion of proceeds from the sales of the pre-orders will go to one of four charities the band has listed on their website. The fans who pre-order the record get to choose which charity their pre-order portion will be donated to.

In support of the new record, The Wonder Years will be heading out on a short, in-store, acoustic tour in the Fall. The tour will begin on Aug. 29 at Fingerprints in Long Beach, CA. On the same day, they will then make their way to Rhino Records in Claremont, CA. The tour will then wrap up on Sept. 10 at Newbury Comics in Boston.

The other day, rumors began that The Wonder Years will be heading out on tour with Motion City Soundtrack following the posting of an advertisement in a magazine. The ad claimed that Motion City Soundtrack will go on tour this Fall in support of their new album and that The Wonder Years will be opening for them. As of now, neither band has confirmed or denied the claim from the ad.

The Wonder Year’s new album, No Closer to Heaven, is set to be released on Sept. 2, the same day as their show at Magnolia Thunderpussy in Columbus, OH.

A few weeks ago, the band announced that a portion of proceeds from the pre-orders of No Closer to Heaven will be donated to four different charities; Puppies Behind Bars, Futures Without violence, The Herren Project, and After-School All-Stars. As they explained in a video, the buyer will have the option to pick between the four charities during the check out process and that’s where a portion of their contribution will be sent. For more information about the charities or to pre-order the record, you can head to The Wonder Year’s website.

Watch the Wonder Years’ Video for “Cardinals”

Less than 12 hours after revealing a lot of news to their fans, The Wonder Years have unveiled the music video for the first single off of their fifth studio album.

Though we were given the album name (No Closer to Heaven), the release date (Sept. 4), the complete track list, and the cover art, the band had decided to keep the name of the first single a secret, but were kind enough to let everyone know it would be released at midnight.

Sadly, some of us were asleep, so it was good to know that the video was already available on the internet when we logged on this morning.

The lead single is titled “Cardinals” and the music video features frontman Dan Campbell carrying drummer Mike Kennedy down a suburban street lined with houses, towards an ambulance. But as they reach it, the ambulance pulls a troll move.

Wonder if it’s a metaphor for something?

Check out the music video for “Cardinals” below.

While the band’s new album doesn’t drop for another couple of months, were pretty sure some new tracks are going to start finding their way onto the band’s set list during the Vans Warped Tour.

It’s just a hunch, now that the cat is out of the bag.

The Wonder Years Announce Fifth Studio Album

The Wonder Years might be in the middle of this year’s run of the Vans Warped Tour, but that’s not stopping the Pennsylvania band from announcing they will be releasing a brand new album later this year.

Taking to the web earlier in the day, the six-piece revealed that they will be releasing their fifth studio album this Fall.

The new record will be titled No Closer to Heaven, not to be confused with Citizen’s recently released, and similarly titled album, Everybody is Going to Heaven.

No Closer to Heaven is set to be released on Sept. 4 through Hopeless Records. The first single of the impending record is will be released at tonight at midnight EST.

In addition to the new song and its video, pre-orders for the record will go live at midnight as well.

For now, the band have been nice enough to give their fans the cover art for No Closer to Heaven as well as the track list for the 13-song album. Both of those can be seen below.
