Blink-182 take the melancholy route for ‘I Really Wish I Hated You’

If blink-182 keep releasing new songs from their forthcoming full-length, there aren’t going to be any left to surprise fans.

On Friday (Sept. 6), the California-founded act unleashed the fifth song from their upcoming new studio album. Like with “Darkside,” the group posted about the new track’s release on Instagram. The post featured the song’s title in red neon lights against a black background, giving some kind of sense of how the song would sound.

The caption accompanying the images read “text us for a sneak peek (323) 831-0182.”

The almost three-and-a-half-minute tune finds the band getting darker with lines like “I hate the way that you’re better off / I numb the pain, but it never stops” and “Save me from myself the way you used to / Because I don’t really like myself without you / I really wish I hated you.” This plays into what Mark Hoppus said earlier this year when he revealed the new blink album would be darker and more aggressive.

“I Really Wish I Hated You” joins previously released single “Darkside,” “Blame It on My Youth,” “Happy Days,” and “Generational Divide” on blink’s upcoming new album. Titled NINE, the record is due out Sept. 20.

Pre-orders are available on the band’s website.

Blink-182 are currently in the final stages of their massive summertime tour with Lil’ Wayne and Neck Deep. Tonight, they’ll take over the Hartman Arena in Wichita, Kansas. As per the tour itinerary, Lil’ Wayne will not appear at tonight’s show nor tomorrow’s gig at Stir Cove in Council Bluffs, Iowa. The remaining tour stops can be found here.

Fortnite, Target uniforms, and grade school kids; Check out Blink-182’s music video for ‘Darkside’

If you’re current scratching your head and asking yourself “what the hell is going on in Blink-182’s new music video?” then you are not alone.

On Wednesday (Aug. 28), the California-founded pop-punkers unleashed the music video for their latest single “Darkside.” The three-minute video finds the trio inside of what appears to be a grade school.

Throughout the clip, we see the guys playing their instruments in different locations around the school (the gym, playground, room) while kids dance around them. But don’t expect the dance moves to be fancy or known to people who aren’t Gen-Zers; the kids are getting their Fortnite dances on.

Like some comments have said, “it looks like a Kidz Bop version of “feeling This” or our personal favorite “it’s three minutes of Target employees doing Fortnite dances.”

“Darkside” joins previously released singles “Blame It on My Youth,” “Happy Days,” and “Generational Divide” on blink’s upcoming new album. Officially titled NINE, the record is due out Sept. 20.

Blink-182 head to the ‘Darkside’ on their new track

Happy Friday, pop-punkers! Blink-182 just dropped another new song.

On Friday (July 26), the California-founded act released the fourth single off their upcoming new studio album. Titled “Darkside,” the song sounds a lot like a poppier version of Alkaline Trio, securing Matt Skiba’s position within the longtime band’s updated lineup.

Earlier this week, the band posted an image on Instagram featuring a blue painted background and the word “Darkside” in neon lights.

The caption read “Friday” and a phone number. Fans were urged to text the number to hear a sneak peek of the new track.

“Darkside” joins previously released singles “Blame It on My Youth,” “Happy Days,” and “Generational Divide” on blink’s upcoming new album. Officially titled NINE, the record is due out Sept. 20. In a confusing twist, the album appears to be blink’s eighth studio effort, though frontman Mark Hoppus has clarified that debate.

NINE. This is our ninth studio album, as decided by me and Travis,” the musician writes on Reddit.

“Some count Buddha, some not. Some count The Mark, Tom and Travis Show. Some count Dogs Eating Dogs. I’m counting Buddha, Cheshire Cat, Dude Ranch, Enema of the State, Toypaj, Untitled, Neighborhoods, California, and now NINE.”

I guess that put an end to that argument.

Blink-182 are currently on the road on their summertime outing with Lil Wayne and Neck Deep. Earlier this month, the tour made headlines when the rapper revealed to an unsuspecting audience that he may exit the excursion well before its final show.

Taking to social media soon after, Lil Wayne refuted the claim. “Yesterday was krazy! But I want all my fans to know I won’t be quitting this tour!” the rapper posted on Twitter.

“I’m having too much fun with my bros blink-182. Bangor, ME See you tomorrow!”

Tonight, the tour will take over the MIDFLORIDA Credit Union Ampitheatre in Tampa. The remaining tour dates can be found here.

Blink-182 announce their eighth studio album, ‘NINE’

Ladies, gents, and pop-punkers, everywhere; blink-182 have finally given us the name of their upcoming new album.

On Thursday (July 25), the California-founded act revealed the title of their eighth studio album via social media because that what we do now. The impending release will be titled NINE, which makes no real sense since it’s actually their eighth full-length record.

The multi-social media reveal also included the album’s cover art which features a (painted) rainbow background with the band’s name in what looks to be neon lights.

The album’s title comes a week after the band announced the official release date for the much-anticipated release. During a live appearance on Good Morning America, frontman Mark Hoppus and drummer Travis Barker announced the September release date for the 15-track album on national television.

“New music right now. September 20th is the release date of the album,” Hoppus told viewers and audience members alike.

Now that we have a title, release, and tracklisting, it looks like we will be getting another new song before the week’s end. Earlier this week, the band posted an imaged on Instagram which, like the album’s cover art, featured a painted background and the word “Darkside” in neon lights.

The caption simply featured the word “Friday” and a phone number. Fans were urged to text the phone number to hear a sneak peek of the new track. The full version of the song will premiere this Friday, July 26.

“Darkside” will be NINE‘s fourth single. Before the vast array of announcements, the trio had released “Blame it on My Youth,” “Generational Divide,” and “Happy Days.”
