Listen: Atreyu return with two new songs, announce seventh studio album

If you’re a fan of Atreyu, then get ready because the quartet just unveiled a slew of good news. On Friday (Aug. 24), the California-founded group announced the fall time release of their seventh studio album. Titled In Our Wake, the new record is due out Oct. 12 through Search and Destroy Records / Spinefarm. Pre-orders for the new album are currently available here.

In a press statement, singer Alex Varkatzas reveals how the deaths of two fellow musicians influenced the impending album.

“It’s a deep one. We looked up to Chris Cornell and Chester Bennington, and their deaths were fresh during the writing process. It made us think of what we’ll leave in our wake. We have a choice to change the lives of others for the better.”

“The album title In Our Wake comes from the idea that every day we humans have two roads we can go down: Do you choose to inspire, uplift, and enhance each others lives? Or do you prefer to belittle, shit talk, and tear down each other down?,” bassist Porter McKnight explains.

“With each choice made, you leave a ripple that reflects across your community, then onto your city, to your nation, and eventually all across the globe. Who do you leave in your wake?”

In addition to the new album announcement, the five-piece also unleashed two new songs from the upcoming record; “Anger Left Behind” and the record’s title track “In Our Wake.” Watch the music video for “In Our Wake” above while “Anger Left Behind” can be streamed here.

In Our Wake is the follow-up to 2015’s Long Live and finds the group reuniting with Lead Sails Paper Anchor producer John Feldmann. The complete tracklisting for the 12-song record can be seen below.

Electric Century to Release EP for Record Store Day

image

Electric Century will finally be releasing some new tracks.

The group took to Twitter last night to reveal the good news to their fans who have been awaiting new music since last year.

The record, which will be the first solo release from former My Chemical Romance bassist Mikey Way and his partners in the act Dave Debiak of Sleep Station and Justin Siegel formerly of Stars in Stereo, is set to be released on Record Store Day (April 18).

The EP will feature four songs; three of which are previously unreleased tracks. Check out the full details of the upcoming record directly from the Record Store Day website as well as the band.

“Electric Century EP

DETAILS:
Format: 10″ Colored Vinyl
Label: Panic State Records
Release type: RSD Exclusive Release

Electric Century is a fever dream. A Britpop happening made to bounce along heavy beats and driving bass. It’s your subconscious offering relief, a telltale anthem of joy. But the dream has been infected, like always, by the voices in your head: I can’t remember life without the pain.

Mikey Way (My Chemical Romance) conceived Electric Century in a daydream. The band is derived from a title, scribbled in his middle-school science notebook. Its idea has been weathered through love and bitter loss, and cultivated within the world’s strangest embrace — sudden celebrity.

In Electric Century, Mikey joins forces with longtime friend Dave Debiak (Sleep Station, New London Fire), whose songwriting captures demons, addiction and despair, then holds them up plainly against the happy facade that we show to the world.

TRACKLIST:

1.  Right There
2.  I Lied
3.  Hail the Saints
4.  If Heaven Will Have Me (Exclusive Record Store Day Track)”

Last year, the group released two tracks, “Let You Get Away” and “I Lied” to give people a taste of what to expect from the new project.

Drake Releases New Album Tracklist

nothing

Information about Drake’s upcoming new album, Nothing Was the Same, has been coming out in increments over the past few weeks. First it was the news that the album had been pushed back then there was the release of the album art which features a little kid with a big ‘fro , mostly likely representing a younger Drake and the rapper now.

Earlier this week, it was also announced that Drake’s father would be contributing some vocals to a track. Today, the official tracking list for the album was released and the biggest shock could be that for once, Lil’ Wayne is not featured on the album like it was rumored at one point. The only rappers to appear on the album are Jay-Z and Detail.

Another surprise is that after it was announced that his father would be contributing vocal to “Heat of the Moment,” the song sadly did not make it to the album; “The Motion” and “5 AM in Toronto” which had previously leaked, also did not make it on the album.

There will also be a deluxe version of the album which will feature  “All Me”, his collaboration with Big Sean and 2 Chainz as well as “Come Thru”.

Paul McCartney Releases “New” Song

20130722-mccartney-grohl-600x-1374508439

Sir Paul McCartney has released a new song titled, ironically, “New.” The song will be featured on the original musician’s upcoming LP titled New as well.

The LP will be the former Beatles’ solo album in six years and will include 12 new song all produced by mega producer, Mark Ronson. The LP will supposedly have a more McCartney feel to it with lines such as “we can do what we want, we can live as we choose.”

McCartney’s last album that featured purely new tracks was 2007’s Memory Almost Full. In 2009, he released the live album, Good Evening New York City and followed that with a classic ballet score in 2011 titled, Ocean’s Kingdom. Last year, he released Kisses on the Bottom, which did not include new material, but did include several covers of pop and jazz hits.

Last month, McCartney made news when he during a show at Seattle’s Safeco Field, he brought out the remaining members of Nirvana on the stage to perform during his encore. Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic backed McCartney on “Cut Me Some Slack” which will be featured on the upcoming release.

For now, check out “New” below and tell us what you feel about it; is it classic McCartney?

Elton John Reveals New Album Information

Sir Elton John

Don’t call it a comeback, or do if you want, but the truth is Elton John is coming back and that is all.

The singer recently revealed that he would be putting out a new album sometime this year, but until yesterday, the official release date was unknown. The Diving Board, John’s first album in seven years will be released in September. Instead of just releasing the date over the internet in writing, like most musicians would do, the singer decided to go the extra by releasing a trailer for the album.

The clip with its moody vibe shows John singing at the piano, but also speaking about the project. The lead single for the album, “Home Again” can be heard playing in the background of the trailer.  “What kind of music do I really want to make?” John questions, before answering his own question, “I am on the diving board.”

The Diving Board is John’s first new album since 2006’s The Captain & the Kid which coincidental was released September 18. Four years after that, John released a collaboration album with Leon Russell called The Union. This album will mark 45 years that John has been in the music industry as well as his 30th studio album.

The album will be produced by T Bone Burnett and will feature 12 new songs. “I realized that I had to go back to go forward again,” he said in a newly released press release. “I needed to strip away the excesses and get back to the core of what I do as an artist. That’s what ‘The Diving Board’ represents. I’m incredibly excited about every aspect of this album.”

John was most recently featured on Fall Out Boy’s new album, Save Rock and Roll on the titled track.
