The Shakira and Rihanna Collab Has Landed

Last week, it was revealed that a collaboration between Shakira and Rihanna would be in our near future and now the song has finally been released.

The song is titled, “Can’t Remember to Forget” premiered on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show to bring a little bit of south of the border sunshine to the otherwise grime Monday.

The full track can be heard below:

On January 6, Rihanna had posted on her Instagram the news in a cryptic way that featured two chairs baring the superstars’ names on them and the caption, “One. Week. Countdown.” A few days later, the Barbados pop star released another picture, the official cover art for the single featuring both her and Shakira.

“Working with her was utopia,” Shakira revealed during and interview for the January 14th issue of Glamour. “She’s the sexiest woman on the planet. And at the end of the day, we’re both basically just Caribbean girls. The chemistry was so good and so real.”

So what do you guys think? Did the Caribbean girls get it right?

Listen to Taking Back Sunday’s New Song

Earlier this year, Taking Back Sunday announced to fans that they were currently working on a new album on Twitter.

Yesterday, the band posted a live video which featured one of their new songs titled, “Flicker Fade.” Apparently, after seeing so many cellphone videos of the sang, the band decided to just release an unofficial-official video of the song.

“We’re glad people are so enthusiastic and want to share the music from their point of view and we thought it would also be nice to see it and hear it from this perspective,” bassist Shaun Cooper said in response to the “leaked” song.

The video was recorded during their show at the reopened Starland Ballroom In New Jersey. The concert venue had previously been closed due to Hurricane Sandy’s destruction of the venue. The band, who hail from Amityville, N.Y., were granted the honor of playing the venue during its first week of reopening.

“Flicker Fade” is the first song to be “leaked” from their upcoming sixth album which they were finishing up in the studio. The album, which still doesn’t have a name, is due out sometime in the Spring of 2014 through Hopeless Records.

Check out the new song below and tell us what you think of the new TBS.

Taking Back Sunday’s fall tour starts Friday, October 11 in Clifton Park, N.Y., and goes all the way through to November 7 at Emporium in Long Island.

‘Walking on Air’ with Katy Perry

Katy Perry is definitely getting her little “Katy-Kats” excited for the release of her new album, Prism. First she gave us the catchy “Roar” and followed it up with releasing “Dark Horse.”

Last week, word on the web was that she would be releasing another new song come midnight Monday which she later did confirm.

At first, the pop star had given her fans a sneak preview of a song titled, “Walking on Air” which was later to be confirmed by the “California Gurl” herself to be the song that would be released at midnight. The song goes in another direction, going for the more club life feel than the poppy “Roar” and “Dark Horse.”

During and interview with MTV, Perry revealed that the song was written after she and a friend went rollerblading in Central Park and took off gliding while listening to house music.  “I looked at [my friend] and I said, ‘I have to do a song like that'” she revealed. She also said in the same interview that one of her musical influences for the song was  CeCe Peniston’s 1991 hit single, “Finally.”

At the moment, “Walking on Air” is not being shopped around as a single for Prism; it’s nothing more than a promotion track from the album.

Prism, though is scheduled to be released on October 22 through Capitol Records.

Check out the song below.

Motion City Soundtrack Release New Song

Motion City Soundtrack have returned with a brand new track titled, “Inside Out.” The band have teamed up with Rolling Stones Magazine to debut the new track from their upcoming album.

While on Warped Tour this past Summer, the band revealed a new track much to the amusement and happiness of fans and casual listeners alike. Their last album, 2012’s Go was not that big of a hit and fans were starting to think that things were not going well musically.

In October 2012, the band released “Major Leagues”, which was included on a 7-inch with another song called “Severance”; the song was also featured on Rolling Stone’s website. Then, drummer Tony Thaxton announced that he was leaving the band after being with them for 11 years. But things seem to be looking up for them.

“‘Inside Out’ is how we’re feeling these days,” Pierre told Rolling Stone in an interview. “We have all this creative energy clawing to get out and a sudden overabundance of material. We’ve upped the tempos from our last endeavor a bit and are focusing on having fun and making rock. This song came together incredibly fast, from inception to completion, and we couldn’t wait to put it on an album. So here it is.”

And that’s just it; here it is. Listen to the new song here.

Motion City Soundtrack will be heading out on a short tour with Bayside starting October 3rd in Pittsburgh. Then they will embark on a co-headlining tour with Relient K starting on November 1st in Tulsa.

New Britney Spears Song Coming Your Way

Looks like fans of Britney Spears won’t have to wait any longer for new music from the pop star. Her new single which will be titled, “Work Bitch” is set to be released next week. Spears took to Twitter to reveal the news that the song will be making its debut on September 16th at 6 p.m. EST through iHeartRadio and local radio stations. The song will then go on to be released  at 12:01 a.m.  EST on September 17th through iTunes.

While the song will be released to the world on Monday evening, Spears had already gotten a head start on making the video for the song which was filmed in a desert. The video will be directed by the mastermind behind Katy Perry’s “Part of Me” video, Ben Mor. This won’t even be the first collaboration that the video director and the singer had worked on; Mor also worked on the music video for her song featuring, “Scream and Shout.”

Spears, being pretty good at keeping secrets at the time, revealed a cryptic countdown on her website last week which was counting down until September 17th. At the time, the speculation was that it would be the day that she would release a new song which ended up being accurate. Earlier this year, did reveal that he would be producing the new album. The last original song that had been released from the star was this Summer’s “Ooh La La” which was featured on The Smurfs 2 soundtrack.

The Pixies Release New Song and EP

Earlier this Summer, the Pixies first surprised us when they announced that bassist, Kim Deal had decided to leave the band after being with them for 25 years. About three months later, the reason behind her departure was still she “departed the band.”

After that, it was shortly announced that they released their first new single, “Bagboy.” Today, the band released the song “Indie Cindy” but that wasn’t the only bit of news from their camp that they were hiding; no, they also announced that they would be releasing a new EP titled, EP-1, today!

Talk about being secretive.

EP-1 is part of series of mini-releases the band will release over the next 15 months. For those interested, the album will be released both digitally and on vinyl, but only a lucky 5,000 will be able to score one of the vinyls.

“It’s all about self-doubt,” frontman Charles Thompson, aka Black Francis, told the Times about the song. “It says to the audience, I don’t know if this romance has still got what it needs to happen again. I don’t know if you’ll accept me; I don’t know if I accept you. But we have this memory. Can we do it again?”

Check out the tracklist for the EP as well as the video for the song below.

1-Andro Queen
2-Another Toe In The Ocean
3-Indie Cindy
4-What Goes Boom

‘Applause’ Almost Didn’t Make it on ‘ARTPOP’

In today’s installment of Lady Gaga news, we have found out that the song that became “Applause” the first single off her highly anticipated album was almost left off the album.

In an interview with Ryan Seacrest, the pop star revealed that the song almost didn’t make the cut, but thanks to a last-minute listening session with Interscope Records co-founder Jimmy Iovine, the song was saved and made the final cut of the album.

Like it had been reported before, Mother Monster had around 70 to 100 songs to choice from when making the final decision on the lucky tracks to end up on ARTPOP.

“‘Applause’ almost didn’t make the album,” Lady Gaga told Seacrest in the interview. “We played ‘Applause’ last and Jimmy looked at me and said, ‘Every record that you played me is better than the one that you played before it, so the last one should be the first single.'”

Of course as we saw, the man behind Gaga’s label got the final say. After being released a week ahead of time because of hackers getting access to the track and leaking it, Gaga’s first new song since 2011’s Born this Way is so far recorded as selling 500,000 copies of the song, only rivaling that of Katy Perry’s new release, “Roar.”

Gaga will be making her return to the stage at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards where she will perform the single. On September 1, she will hit the stage for a full performance at the iTunes Festival for an hour, which Little Monster hope she will also toss in some new tracks to the mix.

ARTPOP on the other hand, isn’t schedule to be released until November 11.

Eminem Releases ‘Survival’

We’ve been hearing a lot of news in snippets coming from Eminem’s camp since the beginning of the year, and it looks like the rapper might be on his way to release his new album sometime soon.

Today, Eminem’s first new track since his 2010’s album, Recovery was released and in the most unexpected way ever; through a trailer for an upcoming video game. The song, “Survival” fittingly was used in the trailer for the upcoming Call of Duty game, Call of Duty: Ghosts. Also featured on the single is Liz Rodrigues, who also provided some guest vocal on Recovery as well.

While the rumors of Slim Shady’s return have been running around for quite sometime now, it has been confirmed that the much-anticipated album is due to be released sometime this Fall. Back in March, Dr. Dre confirmed that there would in fact be a new album for the rapper coming out this year, but the official date was still unknown.

“We fully expect to be releasing a new Eminem album in 2013,” Shady Records President Paul Rosenberg told Billboard earlier this year in an interview.

“He’s been working on it for some time. It’s safe to say that it will be post-Memorial Day at some point, but we’re not exactly sure when. We’ve got some dates locked in for him to perform live in Europe in August, so we’re trying to see what else lines up.”

Just last week, he made a rare appearance at an event for G-Shock where he performed all old material, much to the dismay of fans hoping for new material to make its way onto his set list.

For those who want to see the trailer for Call of Duty: Ghosts featuring the complete song and war-zone special effects, the video can be seen below. For those wanting just the song without the noise that could be found underneath the video.

Katy Perry’s ‘Roar’ Leaks

Kay Perry’s new single, “Roar” has officially gotten the leak treatment after making its way onto the internet yesterday. The song, which will be featured on the pop star’s upcoming new album, Prism, was originally scheduled to premiere on Monday, August 12, but thanks to the internet and technology now-a-days, it seems that it was inevitable.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve been hearing a lot from Perry’s camp after being away from the limelight to work on the new album. First it was her promotional golden 18-wheeler making its way from town to town promoting the album then it was the cryptic videos showing the singer putting her Candy-fornia persona to rest as well as a snippet of this song. We also can’t forget the news that she will be featured on a track on boyfriend, John Mayer’s new album.

All in all, it looks like Ms. Katy might be coming back in full force.

Check out the audio for “Roar” below as well as the lyrics to the song.

I used to bite my tongue and hold my breath
Scared to rock the boat and make a mess
So I sat quietly, agree politely
I guess that I forgot I had a choice
I let you push me passed the breaking point
I stood for nothing, so I fell for everything

You held me down but I got up,
Already brushing off the dust
You hear my voice you hear that sound
Like thunder gonna shake the ground
You held me down but i got up
Get ready ’cause I’ve had enough
I see it all, i see it now

I got the eye of the tiger the fire
Dancing through the fire, ’cause I am a champion
And you’re gonna hear me roar
Louder, louder than a lion
‘Cause I am a champion
And you’re gonna hear me roar
And you’re gonna hear me roar

Now I’m floating like a butterfly
Stinging like a bee i earned the stripes
I went from zero, to my own hero

You held me down but I got up,
Already brushing off the dust
You hear my voice you hear that sound
Like thunder gonna shake the ground
You held me down but I got up
Get ready ’cause i’ve had enough
I see it all, I see it now

I got the eye of the tiger the fire
Dancing through the fire, ‘cause i am a champion
And you’re gonna hear me roar
Louder, louder than a lion
‘Cause i am a champion
And you’re gonna hear me roar
And you’re gonna hear me roar
And you’re gonna hear me roar

Roar roar roar roar roar

I got the eye of the tiger the fire
Dancing through the fire, ‘cause i am a champion
And you’re gonna hear me roar
Louder, louder than a lion
‘Cause i am a champion
And you’re gonna hear me roar
And you’re gonna hear me roar
And you’re gonna hear me roar

Kings of Leon Release New Song

After disappearing off the face of the music world for some R and R, Kings of Leon are back with the official studio version of their new single, “Supersoaker.”

The band performed the new song live during their performance at the New York Governor’s Ball which got rained out on their assigned performance date, but made it up to fans the following day by not only performing the new song live, but by also announcing that they would be releasing their new album, Mechanical Bull, in September.

The song finds the guys finally being able to find that the nice balance between the group’s Southern rock roots as well as the big, arena rock ambitions that they are trying to achieve. The music video for the song can be seen below.

Mechanical Bull will be the band’s first new album since 2010’s Come Around Sundown. During the Dallas date of the 2011 tour, frontman Caleb Followill left the stage and didn’t return which started the talk of the band’s demise. Bassist, Jared Followill later that night tweeted: “I can’t lie, there are problems in our band bigger than not drinking enough Gatorade.” During that time, the members all went off to start families, but are now ready to return to the stage.
