Blink-182, Weezer, and Limp Bizkit to headline Inkcarceration 2020

Inkcarceration_2020_header.jpgIs it just us, or are the 90s making a full comeback?

If you’re shaking your head, not quite sure what we mean, all you need to do is take a look at the current state of fashion or the lineup for the 2020 incarnation of Ohio’s Inkcarceration Festival.

On Wednesday (Dec. 18), the people behind the annual rock-centric music and tattoo festival unveiled their lineup for their third annual event.

Headlining the three-day festivities are Blink-182, Weezer, and Limp Bizkit (yes, Limp Bizkit).

Joining Blink-182, Weezer, and Limp Bizkit on the 2020 roster will be Papa Roach, Halestorm, Mastodon, Underoath, Atreyu, New Politics, All That Remains, We Came as Romans, The Devil Wears Prada, New Years Day, Escape the Fate, and many more.

According to a press statement, additional bands will be unveiled at a later time. Over 40 groups will reportedly take over one of two stages during the weekend-long gig.

Because this is a music and tattoo festival, festival organizers also revealed that 60 tattoo artists will be on hand to give concertgoers some new ink.

In addition to the killer musical lineup and tattoo artists, the event will also include tours of the Ohio State Reformatory (aka the Shawshank prison), gourmet food trucks, drinks, and the return of the popular haunted house attraction, Escape from Blood Prison.

Talk about celebrating Halloween in July.

Inkcarceration 2020 will return to its home at the Ohio State Reformatory in Mansfield, Ohio, during the weekend of July 10-12.

Tickets for Inkcarceration 2020 are currently available for purchase here.

Listen: New Politics drops new single ‘One of Us’

Over the past week, the guys of New Politics have been taking to social media to tease that something by the name of “One of Us” would be released at the end of the week. After days of teasing, the group finally unveiled what they had up their sleeves. On Friday (March 10), the Denmark-founded band unveiled their brand new song; a song titled “One of Us.” The anthemic, fist-pumping song can be streamed above.

In an interview with Alternative Press, New Politics drummer Louis Vecchio, explained how the new song came together and what it’s about. “‘One Of Us’ came about, and it resonates with me so much, about things that are going on in the world today, but it wasn’t written with that in mind,” begins the drummer.

“It [was] written from a really good place. We’re friends—we got to write this record in Brooklyn where we were living at the time. It was just a hangout session in our home studio, being together. That’s what this song really [says], that we were all just together.”

In the same interview, Vecchio was asked whether “One of Us” is a teaser of what to expect from the band’s still-unconfirmed new record. According to him, it “follows pretty well” with the rest of the album and that fans should expect a “very mature album” for the band when the new record is released. Read Vecchio’s complete interview here.

“One of Us” is the band’s first new tune since the release of 2015’s Vikings. While there has been no confirmation of a new album or a projected release date, we can assume that a new album could be seen in the near future.

Listen to New Politics’ Stripped Down “West End Kids”

If you have ever seen New Politics live, you would know first hand that their shows are usually full of more energy than someone who had drunk a lethal combination of Red Bull and Monster energy drinks. But did you ever imagine that you would see the day the Danish trio would put the energy to the side and give a stripped-down, piano version of one of their songs? Well, the band did just that recently and uploaded a stripped down version of their current single, “West End Kids.”

Watch the video of the piano rendition of “West End Kids” below.

“West End Kids” is the lead single from New Politics’ latest album, Vikings, which was released earlier this month through DCD2. In support of the new album, New Politics will be heading out on a fall tour with Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness and The Griswolds. The tour will kick off on Oct. 13 at the Sodo Showbox in Seattle and wrap up a month and a half later on Nov. 28 at the Fillmore in Philadelphia.

New Politics Battle Their Famous Friends in “West End Kids”

What happens when most of your friends happen to be your fellow label mates?

Simple. Get them all to appear in your new music video.

New Politics went ahead and did just that for the music video for their latest single, “West End Kids.”

Joining the Danish trio in the video are Panic! at The Disco’s Brendon Urie, Travie McCoy, LoLo, MAX, and of course Fall Out Boy because a DCD2 artist-filled video is not complete without the head honcho of the record label himself.

The video begins with the boys playing an arcade game when a figure suddenly appears on the screen, telling them “all your girls belong to us.” As soon as they read that, they take off in their car to save their girlfriends. But things are not as easy as they seem as they get sucked into different takes on some iconic video game thanks to P!ATD’s Urie. In each, they have to battle an evil DCD2 artist to save the girls.

Check out the music video below.

“West End Kids” will be featured on New Politics’ upcoming new album Vikings. Vikings is set to be released on Aug. 14. Pre-orders for the record are currently ongoing.

Vikings is the follow-up to 2013’s A Bad Girl in Harlem.

Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness Announces Fall Tour

image

While news broke yesterday (June 22) that there is a possibility that Jack’s Mannequin will reunite to go on tour to celebrate the tenth anniversary of their breakout record, Everything in Transit, frontman Andrew McMahon revealed today that he will be going back on tour this Fall with his new group, Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness.

While this is probably not the kind of tour announcement Jack’s fans were hoping for, it’s still McMahon going on tour and last time we saw them, they performed “Dark Blue,” from EIT, so something is definitely something.

McMahon will be hitting the road with Denmark’s New Politics whose new album, Vikings is set to be released in August. Also hitting the road with the two groups are Australian four-piece, The Griswolds. For those going to see The Griswolds, pay close attention to the tour schedule below because there are a few tour stops they will not be playing.

The tour is slated to begin on Oct. 13 at the Sodo Showbox in Seattle and wrap up a month and a half later on Nov. 28 at the Fillmore in Philadelphia. There are currently five “announcing soon” spots on the tour schedule, so if your town is not on the list, then maybe it will be coming soon.

Check out the complete tour schedule.

New Politics Drop New Song, Reveal Upcoming Album

Just a couple of years ago, New Politics were playing supporting act for a newly reunited Fall Out Boy, but now, the Denmark-based band will be releasing their third studio album later this Summer.

The album is titled Vikings is set to be released on Aug. 14 through Pete Wentz’s label, DCD2, and Warner Bros. Records.

In order to get their followers pumped, the trio have released the (technical) second single off of the album; “West End Kids.” Reportedly, the track “Everywhere I Go (Kings & Queens)” which was released last September, was the first single from this upcoming new record.

When asked about the song, frontman David Boyd said via a statement: “The song is about Vesterport (West End), the area in Copenhagen where we once lived. It’s where we played some of our first shows, where we first fell in love, and first felt heartbreak. It’s also where we had to say goodbye in order to make the sacrifices needed to move to Brooklyn and live out our dream of playing music.”

An ode to home.

Check out the new song below.

The band will be hitting the road this Summer for a handful of festival dates. The complete list of their upcoming festival stops can be seen below.

New Politics Cause Havoc in “Everywhere I Go”

newpolitics

New Politics has been making waves in the past year, going from opening act to headliners in under two years.

That’s a big deal especially from a band not from America and it looks like the Danish band are going to stay, especially when you have backing from Fall Out Boy and Pete Wentz is your fairy godfather. New Politics are signed to Wentz’s D2C2 record label alongside Panic! at the Disco.

Today, the band have debuted the music video for their latest single “Everywhere I Go (Kings and Queens).”

The video, which was shot with the help of the group’s fans, features a car setting fire to the street of what appears to be New York, break dancing, demolishing televisions, graffiting a car, and a sick rock show in a tiny venue.

Yes guys, New Politics’ show is just as crazy as it appears on film. We know, we’ve been at one.

Check out the music video below.

Earlier this week, it was announced New Politics would be one of the bands to take the stage on night one of KROQ’s 25th annual Almost Acoustic Christmas alongside fellow label mates/ former tour mates Fall Out Boy as well as Linkin Park, Incubus, Rise Against, and more.

But before they get to that in December, the band began a short, Midwestern tour yesterday in Lawrence, KS at the Granada Theater. Today, they will be hitting up The Pageant in St. Louis. The rest of their tour dates can be seen below.

EVERYWHERE I GO TOUR DATES:

11/12 St. Louis, MO @ The Pageant
11/13 Minneapolis, MN @ Varsity Theater
11/14 Milwaukee, WI @ The Rave / Eagles Club
11/15 Indianapolis, IN @ Deluxe at Old National Centre
11/16 Chicago, IL @ House of Blues

Pete Wentz’s DCD2 to Launch Music Fest

image

What happens when you combine some of the biggest artists signed to Pete Wentz DCD2 (formerly known as Decaydance Records)?

Simple; one hell of a festival that will have those that grew up alongside Decaydance and their artists looking for flights to Mexico.

DCD2 have revealed plans for Hydra Fest, a four-day hotel festival vacation slated to take place from April 15 to April 19 in Mexico. Included in the package are:  performances, a Q&A session, meals and drinks as well as room and board at the Hard Rock Riviera Maya.

Fall Out Boy, Panic! at the Disco, Travie McCoy, New Politics and newcomer LoLo (the female on Panic!’s “Miss Jackson”) are all confirmed.

Check out all the details for the newly established festival below and maybe, just maybe we can find a way to get there (where can we apply for press passes?).

If not, here’s to working our bums off for the next year.

“Hydra Fest brings Fall Out Boy fans together to enjoy four awesome nights of music at Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya.  In addition to two full shows and an acoustic set with a Q&A session from Fall Out Boy, the Fest will also feature two shows each from Panic! At the Disco, Travie McCoy, New Politics, as well as music from LOLO.

More than just a run of shows, Hydra Fest is the ultimate rock & roll getaway with epic live performances for 2,500 lucky fans, who will stay on-site at the resort with all meals, drinks, concerts and most activities included in the price of the package.

With shows that overlook a breathtaking view of the Caribbean Sea at Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya’s spectacular digs, Hydra Fest will be a singular chance to see FOB & the DCD2 family in an incredible setting.”
