Listen to Nate Ruess Wonder “What This World is Coming To”

It feels like it’s been a while since Nate Ruess released a new song from his impending solo record.

The fun. frontman remedied that problem this weekend when he released a new song titled “What This World Is Coming To.”

The song which also features Beck (yes, that Beck) finds both men singing about the things that are happening in the world and just guessing that this is the outcome. Kind of sad, if you think about it.

Ruess opened up recently in an interview about what it was like to work with the Beck and how he felt like a “mere mortal.”

“Working with, and getting a chance to learn from Beck has been an incredible experience. Not only does he put more studio time in than anyone I know, his back catalog of musical references is unattainable to us mere mortals. I’d let it slide — but he also happens to be a wonderful person and family man to boot. Did I mention his guitar chops? Here’s hoping we get another chance to work together soon. I won’t act like I’m texting while I’m nervously filming him shred.”

Listen to the song below which joins previously released tracks, “Nothing Without Love,” “AhHa,” and “Great Big Storm” on Grand Romantics.

Pre-sales for Grand Romantic have officially hit both iTunes and Amazon. The record is due out on June 16 through Fueled by Ramen.

Nate Ruess Gives Us “Nothing without Love”

After dropping two teasers in the past two weeks for his first solo song, “Nothing Without Love,” fun. frontman Nate Ruess has now released the full track, like promised last week.

Alongside the music video, the singer also posted an update about the song.

In the post which can be read in full below, he gives the reader some “intel” about the song including that the idea for the song came while he was in the shower and that he was stuck in a water tank (that was used to film scenes from the Titanic) for four hours to make the video.

Check out the music video/full song below as well as Ruess’ note to fans.

“Hello there. It’s been awhile. Quite awhile. I figured I’d happily take a quick break from recording (warmly, might I add) my very first album and give you a little intel on the song that you’re hopefully about to listen to (and maybe even watch!).

Here are the facts:

– The song is called “Nothing Without Love.”

– A lot of times songs come to me in the middle of the night while I’m sleeping, or while I’m driving. This one showed up in the shower.

– It was recorded with Jeff Bhasker and Emile Haynie (both worked on the album Some Nights as well as “Just Give Me A Reason” and “Headlights”).

– A lot of it was made in a house that we rented that wasn’t supposed to be a recording studio, but we turned it into one anyways.

– I remember taking a trip upstate to finish the lyrics, and returning thinking that I’d finally been able to say everything I’d ever been feeling in that moment, and it’s applied to my life in so many different ways ever since.

– This is probably my favorite song I’ve ever written. The one I’ve listened to the most on repeat. And I can’t pinpoint what it is about it that makes its so special to me. Which makes me love it even more.

Enough rambling. I’m dying for you to hear – and I should probably get back to work.

Thank you for your patience and putting up with me. I love what I do. And I wouldn’t do it if it wasn’t for you guys. I really hope you enjoy it as much as I do. See you very soon.
heart emoticon

P.S. Last fact: That water tank I was in was where they shot the last scene in “Titanic”. It was freezing, and after 4 hours in there, I too was about to sink.”

Nate Ruess Releases Second New Song Teaser

Nate Ruess did not do a good job of keeping fun. fans at bay when the rumors began, once again, that the band had disbanded. Billboard further fueled the rumors when they claimed that “sources” close to the band had said egos were causing a riff among the trio.

But while no solid confirmation has been given about the status of the group, we knew for a fact that Ruess would be going on his own (like guitarist Jack Antonoff) with some new music.

Last week, the signer released a teaser of his first solo song, a track titled “Nothing without Love,” which Ruess confirmed, in a recent interview, to be about his current girlfriend.

Unlike last week’s track, the new 15-second teaser of “Nothing without Love” is all instrumentals while last week’s release was Ruess’ isolated vocals.

Check out both teasers below. The full song will premiere on Monday, Feb. 23.

Surprise Performers Confirmed for the Grammys

The Grammys have revealed some of the performers that will be taking the stage at the annual music award show, but the biggest surprise on the list comes courtesy of some French DJs who like to wear helmets.

Can you guess who it is?

Well, we aren’t going to give you enough time to guess because the biggest shock on the list is that Daft Punk will be taking the stage to perform. This will be the first time in six years that the electronic duo will be performing on live television; the last time they performed on the show was in 2008 with Kanye West.

Since the release of Random Access Memories, the duo really haven’t done any public performance even though they did appear briefly on stage during the MTV Video Music Awards, but it was just to promote their newest single “Lose Yourself to Dance.” The Recording Academy is billing Daft Punk’s appearance as an “exclusive” one, so who knows, maybe it is.

Also confirmed to take the stage is Kendrick Lamar who is nominated for seven awards including “Album of the Year” for Good Kid, M.A.A.D City, “New Artist” as well as “Best Rap Performance” for “Swimming Pools (Drank).” Imagine Dragons who are fresh from performing a killer mash-up of their songs on the American Music Awards will once again be hitting the stage for the Grammys where they are nominated for two awards one of which is “Record of the Year.”

Grammy veteran P!nk will also appear on the award show to perform what we assume is her Grammy-nominated song, “Just Give Me a Reason” with fun. frontman, Nate Ruess.

There will also be a special Grammy Moment performance by country artists Merle Haggard, Kris Kristofferson, Willie Nelson and Blake Shelton. The performance has been described as a tribute to the Texas and Oklahoma roots of the artists.

LL Cool J will once again be returning for hosting duties during the live broadcast of the show which will take place on January 26, from the Staples Center in Los Angeles. CBS will be airing the event live starting at 8 p.m. EST.

Eminem Releases New Video and Album Track List

Eminem’s commercial for his upcoming album, MMLP2 might have been outdone by a skeletal white girl trying to twerk, but it didn’t mean that the release of his new album will go unnoticed. with this lead single, ” ” being used in a Call of Duty commercial for its newest installment to the new Beastie Boys sounding song (lead single, “Bezerk”), it looks like the rapper is showing that people still do care about him, even after being away for sometime.

Fun. Meets Queen at the iHeartRadio Music Festival

Fun. frontman, Nate Ruess might have been suffering from some vocal conditions last week which left him unavailable to perform at a festival with Mumford & Sons, but it looks like things are looking up just in time for the singer.

It was reported that the “We Are Young” crooner and the rest of his band, will be appearing with classic rock icons, Queen, during the iHeartRadio Music Festival tomorrow. The show, which has now become an annual event with some of the biggest artists in music taking to the stage will take place at MGM Grand Garden Arena, will be taking over Las Vegas for the next two days.

Billboard reported that an inside source had seen Ruess rehearsing with Brian May and Roger Taylor on some tracks including “Somebody to Love” and “Fat Bottomed Girls” this past Tuesday, September 17.

Ruess isn’t the only musician that has joined Queen in the past; one of the most famous musicians to have joined the band is former American Idol contestant Adam Lambert. For quite sometime, the former reality TV show contestant had been filling the frontman position and will be resurrecting that role during Queen’s performance at the music festival.

The festival is slated to start tomorrow and for the first time ever, will feature a Fan Village officially named  the iHeartRadio Music Festival Village which will include performances by Miley Cyrus, Avril Lavigne, AWOLNATION, Pete Tong, Twenty One Pilots and Jason Derulo.

Friday’s performers on the main stage will include  Katy Perry, Elton John, Keith Urban, J. Cole, Muse, Tiesto, Chris Brown and Benny Benassi while Saturday’s line up will feature  Paul McCartney, Justin Timberlake, Drake, Miley Cyrus, Tim McGraw and Bruno Mars and many more.

Who else is looking forward to Fun. and Queen maybe performing “We Are Young” together?

Fun. Frontman Released Message About Cancelled Show

In what was sad news for fans of fun., the band had to cancel their appearance at t festival alongside Mumford & Sons sue to vocal issues that had been plaguing frontman Nate Ruess since the beginning of the year. The band had been scheduled to perform at the Gentlemen Of The Road Stopover in St. Augustine, FL last night, but a doctor had advised Ruess that the best thing he could do was sit out the show due to vocal concerns.

Today, Ruess has taken to the web to explain what exactly went on and why the band were forced to pull out of the event. The full message can be read below:

Hey Guys,

I just wanted to take a second and explain the unfortunate circumstances in which we had to cancel our set today with Mumford & Sons.

Since Xmas time last year, I had been experiencing some crazy and annoying vocal issues. For me it’s been particularly tough, because in all of my years of touring (including the early years of doing 12 straight shows), I’ve never had to cancel a show because of my voice. However, last winter my vocals finally started getting the best of me.

After seeing a doctor, we decided that it was best that we change a few things in the touring schedule, as well as in the way we would approach shows in the future.

Because of that, I’ve been able to get away with almost 10 straight months of touring, without any issues.

But the last few weeks, things have started to change again. This is really hard on me…my voice is my life. As much as it might suck for fans to miss the show, it feels equally as terrible for us. After all, our live performance is what we’ve built this band around, and to be honest, right now in the middle of this tour, we are really rolling.

But in order to keep the tour going (as well as any sort of tour in the future), I found it necessary to cancel the show today. I went to the doctor the other day, fortunately there isn’t any permanent damage, but he concurred that a few days off would be crucial.

It’s a massive drag to cancel a show/festival with a band that we not only admire as artists and live musicians, but also as people. If we could be there, we’d be wearing bells.

Our apologies to the ticket buyers, and to everyone involved in the Mumford show tonight. We promise to make it up to you. We always do.

See you soon,

As of right now, there has been no comments on whether they will also be rescheduling or cancelling the rest of their Most Nights tour which is scheduled to pick up tomorrow in Tuscaloosa, AL.

Listen to Ellie Goulding’s New Track

Ellie Goulding has pretty much been a staple on the pop charts since her hit song “Lights” first made its debut on the radio. Now, the British songstress has released a new song which features a little help from fun. frontman, Nate Ruess.

Ruess, who has gotten some pop cred under his belt for several hit radio songs and even some assistance in other songs like P!nk’s “Just Give Me a Reason” and Ke$ha’s “Die Young” has contributed to Goulding’s new song, but don’t expect for him to have his vocals on the track; the music man decided to take a behind the scenes approach for the song.

The name of the track is “Goodness Gracious” and will be featured on the Goulding’s re-release of her hit album, Halcyon. The re-issue titled, Halcyon Days will feature several spare songs that she had in hiding, including a cover of  Alt-J’s “Tesselate,” the electronic, “Burn as well as the ballad, “Hearts without Chains.”

For now, take a listen to the track and pick up Halcyon Days when it hits store on August 27.
