AJR announce ‘NEOTHEATER,’ share music video for ‘100 Bad Days’

Weeks after surprising fans with a brand new song, AJR is back with the music video for the tune. On Monday (March 11), the New York-founded act released the music video for their latest single, “100 Bad Days.” Channeling surreal paintings and pictures, the three-and-a-half-minute clip feels like an acid trip come to life with the trio’s dismembered heads floating throughout the clip while they start to appear pixel by pixel.

The music video was directed by Tim Nackashi whose resume includes Dua Lipa, Maroon 5, and Death Cab for Cutie. Watch the clip for “100 Bad Days” above and try to mouth “WTF” several times.

In addition to the music video, the band has also formally announced the release of their new studio album. Titled NEOTHEATER, the record is due out April 26.

Taking to Twitter, the group posted a one-minute video where they compared the process of recording a new studio album to “Goldilocks and the Three Bears.” As it turns out, the “Goldilocks and the Three Bears” album was scrapped, and they decided to go in another direction with the end results being NEOTHEATER. Pre-orders for the new album will begin later today.

NEOTHEATER is the follow-up to 2017’s The Click.

As of now, it looks like “100 Bad Days” is the lead single off the forthcoming release. Since its debut in January, “100 Bad Days” has been streamed over 20 million times and is making its way up the alternative radio chart. The song will make its live television debut tonight (March 11) on Jimmy Kimmel Live!

Currently, the group is taking a little break from the stage but will hit the road again later this summer. AJR will make their return to performing on June 9 at LaureLive in Beachwood, Ohio, followed by several appearances at music festivals such as BottleRock, Bonnaroo, and Firefly.
