We’re about two months away from the 2014 MTV Europe Music Awards and today, the network has announced two of the big names that will be taking the stage in Glasgow.

The United Kingdom’s favorite ginger Ed Sheeran and Ariana Grande have been enlisted to perform during the annual show.

“I’ve never been successful enough in Europe to be part of it, and finally, I am, so…yay!” Sheeran said in a video post on Facebook.

“I hear there’s another female artists performing….she’s got a few ‘problems’ and hangs out with rapper that might be a bit ‘fancy.'”

It doesn’t take a brain surgeon to come up with Ariana Grande as the answer to his teases.
Grande said a statement of her own, “I’m definitely looking forward to being part of the party onstage this year.”

For Grande, this marks a big step up from last year in her career. Last year, the singer hosted the EMA digital backstage show, while this year she will be performing on the main stage while also being nominated in six categories including, “Best Song,” “Best Pop,” “Best Female,” “Best New Artist,” “Best Push,” and “Biggest Fans” for her crazies.

The 2014 MTV EMAs will take place at Glasgow’s SSE Hydro on Sunday, Nov. 9 at 9 p.m. CET with Nicki Minaj holding the reins as host of the event. The celebration will begin with a live broadcast from Miami at 7 p.m. EST.

It feels like it’s only been a few weeks since the MTV Video Music Awards took place (which we think it did) and now the music network has revealed the nominees for the European version of the award ceremony.

For being an award show due to take place across the pond, quite a big chunk of the nominees seem to be from North America, unless you count those nominated for regional awards.

Coming in at the top of the list with the most nominees is Katy Perry with a total of seven. Ariana Grande comes in next with six nominations while Pharrell and 5 Seconds of Summer are tied with a total of five. Iggay Azalea, Eminem, Nicki Minaj, One Direction and breakout Sam Smith comes in with a total of four nominations a piece.

MTV European Music Award Winners

ema

MTV might have gifted North America their Video Music Awards a few months back, like anyone could forget because of a certain former Disney star and her attempt at twerking, but now, the “music” network floated across the pond to give us the European version of the show.

The MTV European Music Awards took place last night at Amsterdam’s Ziggo Dome with performances from Katy Perry, The Killers, Imagine Dragons and yes that person we described above. The show was hosted by LMFAO’s RedFoo, you know the one with the big ol’ fro and neon colored outfit. But in between those performances and random skits by the host some awards were given out for categories such as Best New Artist, Best Female and Make and even Best Style.
