2015 American Music Awards Nominees Unveiled

The 2015 American Music Awards nominees have been unveiled and lets just say that the lineup features a slew of the artists that we continuously hear on the radio and read about on the web. On Tuesday morning (Oct. 13), DNCE’s Joe Jonas and Charlie Puth of “See You Again” fame, made the official announcement during Good Morning America. Leading the pack with a total of six nominations is Taylor Swift who’s nominated categories include “Song of the Year” for “Blank Space” and “Favorite Pop/Rock Album” for 1989. 2015 Billboard Music Awards Nominees Announced

After a several hour-long reveal, the nominees for this year’s Billboard Music Awards have been unveiled.

Leading the pack with the most nomination, to the surprise of no one, is Taylor Swift with a total of 14 nominations in 13 of the 40 categories. Falling behind her are Sam Smith with 13, Iggy Azalea with 12, and Meghan Trainor with nine.

from all the categories, there is only one that will be fan voted; the Billboard Chart Achievement Award. Swift, Trainor, Azalea are up for the fan-centric award though we’re putting money on Swift winning pretty much everything she’s nominated for.

Those interested in voting on that award can go to Billboard.com, BillboardMusicAwards.com, and/or Twitter to put in their two cents.

The show will air live from the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas on Sunday May 17 from 8-11 p.m. on ABC.

Listen to the First 2014 Pop Music Mashup

In less than two weeks, we say good-bye to the year that was 2014 and to think, it feels like it was just yesterday that we were bringing in the new year with so much hope.

Band reunions, anniversary tours, new albums, random music news, and much more have kept us busily writing for you guys (old and new followers) and we would like to thank you for taking a couple of seconds of your day to read a post, like it and even reblog it if you have this year.

As the year comes to an end, we are surely going to begin to see many mash-ups of the year’s most infectiously catchy (and most often than not, annoying) songs of the year.

DJ Daniel Kim who puts out his yearly “Pop Danthology” out around this time is at it again with his mash-up of 66 of the biggest songs of the year.

Check out his 2014 year in review which features songs such as Meghan Trainor’s “All About That Bass,” Pharrell’s “Happy,” Taylor Swift’s “Shake it Off,” Maroon 5’s “Animals,” and many more clocking in at over six minutes.

“All About That Bass” Gets Star Wars Treatment

nerdist

Star Wars once again made headliners yesterday with the revelation that Episode VII would now be titled, Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Of course, all the jokes about the name began, including our personal favorite, Star Wars: The Force Needs Its Cup of Coffee. Like with any revelation that big, a lot of fans not exactly excited about the choice of names (like they’ve ever been happy with any of the titles). But, leave it to The Nerdist to be able to take the negative reactions to the name and give them something funny in the form of a parody of a top 40 radio song.

Chris Hardwick and his crew at the Nerdist took Meghan Trainor’s infectious, pop song, “All About the Bass” and gave it the Jedi treatment rewriting the lyrics to fit the Star Wars world. Things like “Alderaan chunks where Alderaan space was…” and “We know that Sith ain’t real ’cause even I got chopped” replace the original lyrics of the song.

Check out the parody below because you know, “we’re all about that base…no rebels.”
