5 Seconds of Summer confirm release of ‘Youngblood,’ announce major tour

After months of cryptic posts, vague responses, and absolutely no information, 5 Seconds of Summer have finally done what fans have been patiently waiting for; answer a slew of questions. On Monday (April 9), the Australian band formally announced the title of their much-anticipated third studio album. Taking to social media, the quartet announced that their upcoming record will be titled Youngblood and will see a release date of June 22 through Capitol Records.

In a short post on Twitter, the band writes: “Our new album YOUNGBLOOD will be released on June 22nd.” Pre-orders for Youngblood will begin this Thursday, April 12. Youngblood is the long-awaited follow-up to 5 Seconds of Summer’s 2015 release, Sounds Good, Feels Good.

In addition to the new album news, the group also unveiled some major tour plans. In support of Youngblood, the four-piece will hit the North American touring circuit towards the end of the summer. The 25-stop North American tour will find the group performing at amphitheaters and large-capacity venues across the continent during the months of August, September, and October.

The “Meet You There” tour will kick off on Aug. 27 at RBC Echo Beach in Toronto and conclude about a month and a half later on Oct. 12 at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles. Tickets for the “Meet You There” tour will go on sale beginning this Friday, April 13. Each ticket sold will include a copy of the new record.

The “Meet You There” tour will be the continuation of the group’s current 5SOS3 world tour. The current promotional excursion has been taking place in small venues around the world as the guys perform the new material for their fans. For now, the complete list of summer tour dates can be seen below.
