Alternative Press to Hold Their Own Music Award Show

What do you do when your publication has been around for a while (like let’s say 30 years)? Well, form your own music awards and that’s exactly what Alternative Press has now done.

The music magazine which many of us probably lived on during those rough teen years, has announced that they will be holding the inaugural Alternative Press Music Awards at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum on July 21 in the magazine’s hometown of Cleveland. For those not able to attend, AXS TV will be broadcasting the show live.

The show will be hosted by blink-182’s Mark Hoppus and will feature live performances. Performers that have been confirmed at the moment are Fall Out Boy, Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, the Misfits, A Day To Remember, All Time Low, Brendon Urie of Panic! At The Disco, Asking Alexandria and twenty one pilots.

Also scheduled to make an appearance are Billy Corgan from The Smashing Pumpkins, Korn, Andy Biersack from Black Veil Brides, Machine Gun Kelly, Frankie Palmeri of Emmure and more to be announced.

Both Corgan and Jett will be receiving special honors for their influence in the genre of rock music. Corgan will receive the first “Alternative Press Vanguard Award” while Jett and her band will receive the “AP Icon Award,” because that is what she is, an icon.

As for the actual award, fans can cast their votes here, but before you do so, check out the categories below and those that are nominated for them.

Drake Claims He’s “Done with Magazine Interviews”

Someone call the waaaa-bulance because Drake is acting like a big baby.

The Canadian rapper is not taking the fact that Rolling Stone Magazine replaced his cover story last-minute to honor the late Philip Seymour Hoffman, lightly. The Nothing Was the Same rapper took to Twitter to express his disgust with the publication after they previewed the interview which included him calling Macklemore’s text to Kendrick Lamar about his Grammy win as “wack as fuck” and criticizing Kanye West’s Yeezus.

On Twitter, he also slams Rolling Stone for putting in the article that he slammed Yeezus when he never even spoke about the album. He also revealed that he would no longer be doing magazine interviews because of all of the issues surrounding this cover story.

His tweets can be read here:

Beyoncé’s Vogue Cover, Leaked

Looks like Beyoncé is having a hard time keeping things under wraps  First it was the rumor that she and Destiny’s Child were going to have a slight reunion at the Super Bowl, which did happen. Then it was followed with her Mrs. Carter Show World Tour poster being revealed earlier than expected, giving fans hopes that it would become a full-fledged tour.

Talks that the singer had landed the cover for the March edition of the magazine started when a “source” revealed that the singer and famed photographer, Annie Leibovitz, had wrapped up a photo shoot, but everything was mum until a Beyoncé fansite Twitter, BeyonceLite, uncovered the photo proof.

Aside from all the leaked things going on for “Queen” B, things are looking very promising for the her in 2013. First it was her “appearance” at the Presidential Inauguration then the Super Bowl performance/reunion with Destiny’s Child. The announcement of her epic world tour came right on the heels of that and we can’t forget that she will be making her directorial debut in the documentary about her life which will debut on HBO on Feb. 16.
