Live Nation’s National Concert Week offers $20 all-in tickets for hundreds of shows

Summer 2018 seems to be the summer that every single musician has decided to hit the road on some kind of tour. Of course, for those of us who are not financial secure, the slew of shows make it hard to decide which to buy tickets for and which we will need to pass on until the next time. On Tuesday (April 24), Live Nation announced their $20 All-In Tickets in honor of National Concert Week. For a week, the event tickets giant will be offering $20 tickets for a slew of popular tours that will hit North America during the summer months.

While lists like this typically include tours that are not selling very well, Live Nation has made sure to include some of their biggest tour to hit the road during the summer. Fans will be able to choose from over 2,000 Live Nation shows from all genres of music including rock, pop, hip-hop, rap, Latin, and even speaking tours (looking at you Joe Biden). Kesha and Macklemore to embark on ‘The Adventures of Kesha and Macklemore’ tour in 2018

As the winter blues are starting to kick in, Kesha and Macklemore are getting ready to bring the heat during the summer months of the new year. On Monday (Dec. 11), the two musicians announced plans to hit the road during the summer months of 2018. The 30-date tour which has been named “The Adventure of Kesha and Macklemore” tour will kick off on June 6 at the Ak-Chin in Phoenix. After touring around the United States and Canada, the excursion will wrap up two months later on Aug. 5 at the MIDFLORIDA Credit Union Amphitheatre in Tampa.

“The Adventures of Kesha and Macklemore” tour will be in support of both musicians’ new albums. Earlier this year, Kesha released her highly anticipated album, Rainbow, which has now earned her two Grammy nominations (Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Pop Solo Performance). As for Macklemore, the rapper released his new album Gemini back in September. The new album marks Macklemore’s first solo album in 12 years. Typically, the rapper’s records feature his frequent collaborator, Ryan Lewis.

Though at first glimpse the partnering between Macklemore and Kesha for a two-month tour may seem a little odd, it’s interesting to point out how both collaborated on the track “Good Old Days” which is featured on Macklemore’s album.

Tickets for the 30-stop tour will go on sale beginning this Friday, Dec. 15 at noon local time. For those who are Citi card members, pre-sales will begin on Wednesday, Dec. 13 at noon local time and wrap up on Thursday, Dec. 14, at 10 p.m. local time.

As if a huge summer party wasn’t enough, proceeds from the ticket sales will reportedly be donated to the two different organizations.

“$1 from every ticket sold will be donated on ‘The Adventures of Kesha and Macklemore’ tour,” Live Nation said in a press release. “Kesha will donate her proceeds to RAINN (Rape, Abuse, & Incest National Network), the largest anti-sexual assault organization in the US. Macklemore will donate his proceeds to M Plus1, an organization that advances racial and social justice through the M&RL Equity Fund.”

Ryan Lewis Asks People About Ryan Lewis

We all know that Macklemore’s sidekick is Ryan Lewis, right? Well, what happens when ordinary people in the crowd get asked about the rapper’s right-hand man by Lewis himself?

Hilarity, all for The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

The DJ/producer took to the streets to ask unsuspecting people if they could identify Lewis out of a crowd. Decked in glasses and slicked back hair, Lewis questioned people, but sadly, most of them preferred Macklemore to him and even at one point, a person rated Lewis a C+ in attractiveness. We, honestly, beg to differ with that grade that was given.

Watch the video below and give the guy props for not feeling like crap afterwards and taking it in stride.

Ryan Lewis and Family Start “The 30/30 Project”

Ryan Lewis might be known as “that guy that stands next to Macklemore,” but the producer who is now a Grammy-winner along with his friend, is beginning to make a name for himself. Though the legacy he is trying to start might not be completely music related, it is related to something that is close to Lewis; a charity to help raise money to build health centers around the world to benefit people living with HIV.

Lewis revealed on Tuesday through his website, the one he shares with Macklemore, that his mother, Julie Lewis, has been living with the deadly disease for 30 years. In honor of her survival, Lewis and his family have begun to raise money for a project called “The 30/30 Project.”

The video begins with Lewis outlining the last couple of years that led to his international success after “Thrift Shop” made him and Macklemore a household name. After the typical, often told success story, the video shifts to the untold, behind-the-scenes story no one has ever heard before.

That’s where he begins to tell the untold story of what helped motivate him and about the strongest woman he knows; his mother. The narration continues with Lewis’ two sisters, his mother and his father speaking about how lucky she was not to fall victim of the disease unlike those who sadly passed away. After giving birth to her oldest daughter, Lewis’ mother was given a blood transfusion that was HIV positive at a time that blood was not being tested beforehand. Though her two youngest children (Ryan’s other sister and himself) had a 25% chance of getting the disease, they were lucky as well.

The project’s final goal is to reach $100,000 for the first health care center in Malawi and for those wanting to donate, an IndieGoGo campaign has already been started in an attempt to help achieve Julie Lewis’ goal to help out big. As of now, the fundraiser has received over $30,000 with 29 days still to go.

Kendrick Lamar Responds to Macklemore’s Text

When Macklemore Instagramed a snap shot of a text he had sent Kendrick Lamar about how he thought Lamar should have won the Grammy for “Best Rap Album,” other artists had an opinion about it (yes, we’re looking at you, Drake), but Lamar decided to stay quiet.

About a month after the annual peacock parade that was the Grammys, Lamar has finally spoken out about the message during an interview with Billboard. Unlike Drake, Lamar took the text with grace and was okay with it, instead of saying that it was just a publicity stunt and “felt fake.”

“That text surprised me, but Macklemore is a genuine dude,” Lamar said. “However it panned out, I wish him much success. He touched people’s souls, and no one can take that away. Really, the whole GRAMMY moment was incredible. Not everyone gets that shot.”

But that’s not the only good thing that has come out of the rapper’s camp. Yesterday, rumors started to circulate that he will be releasing a new album this September when the magazine spoke with Top Dawg Entertainment’s Anthony Tiffith. The new album will be a follow-up to the Grammy nominated, Good Kid, M.A.D.D. City.

American Music Award Nominations Announced

Another day, another music awards show has revealed its long list of nominees.

Yesterday, we heard from the Grammy Association when they announced, officially, who would be taking the stage during their live concert show. The show, which takes place in early December will announce the nominees for the award show while also giving viewers performances throughout the show.

Today, the American Music Awards got their day by revealing all their own nominees. Coming out on top with six nomination were Macklemore and Ryan Lewis all for their hit song, “Thrift Shop.” Coming in right behind them with five nominations a piece are  Justin Timberlake and Taylor Swift.

No only were the nominees for the event, due to take place on November 24, the performers for the event were also unveiled. Imagine Dragons will be taking the stage as well as Miley Cyrus whose performance, we can already predict, will be nothing but good, old-fashion white trash nonsense.

Winners will be chosen by the fans who can start voting for their favorites online. For now, check out the full list below and start writing up who you want to win in a little cheat sheet so you can head on over to the website to start voting.

Macklemore and Ryan Lewis Debut New Song

Call it perfect timing or not, but Macklemore and Ryan Lewis have released a brand new track titled, “Stay At Home Dad” which chronicles what it’s like to be a stay-at-home dad.

Time to celebrate all those under-appreciated dads about there that don’t get credit for taking care the household and children. Happy Fathers’ Day to all of those out there.

Check out the song below:

Listen to the ‘Thrift Shop’/’No Scrubs’ MashUp

Could you have ever pictured that TLC’s hit song, “No Scrub” would one day get the mash-up treatment? Well, that indeed happened when someone decided to combine the 90s hit with one of radio’s stupid, yet highly addictive song “Thrift Shop” by Macklemore.

Listen to the mash-up right here:

In case you missed it, you can even get yourself a free download of the track.

But what really begs the question is if Macklemore is a scrub. Is Mackelmore a scrub?

Woman Arrested for Assaulting Boyfriend Over Macklemore Song

This might be one of the craziest stories of the day.

A woman in Colorado was arrested for assaulting her boyfriend who would not stop singing Macklemore’s hit song, “Thrift Shop.” The woman, Samantha Malson, reportedly tried to choke her boyfriend, Lars Hansen, to death after he sang the song 25 times in a row.

Following the incident which occurred this past Saturday, the couple were visited by the police after they received a domestic dispute report. The 23-year-old Malson admitted to the crime telling officers that she and Henson were both drunk at the time. She was then charged with harassment, domestic violence and assault.

The Smoking Gun was able to obtain some extracts from the police report which said the following, “Malson said that she asked Hansen ’25 times’ to stop singing. Malson said, ‘He just annoyed me’ and ‘I pushed him’. Malson demonstrated this (without me asking or prompting) by shoving her fingertips into the air repeatedly. She said she pushed him a couple of times and, ‘I grabbed him around the throat,’ showing me her left hand in a choking type hold. Malson then said, ‘I did it for intimidation’.”

Guess Henson won’t be “wearing your grandfather hand-me downs” anytime soon.
