Listen to Fall Out Boy’s new tune ‘Champion’

After promising fans a brand new song off their upcoming album, Fall Out Boy has kept their promised and released their new tune. On Thursday (June 22), the Chicago-founded band released their second single off M A N I A, “Champion.” Earlier this month, bassist Pete Wentz took to Instagram to give fans a little bit of  background on the new jam. As it turns out, the tune was inspired by the 1984 fantasy-drama, “The Neverending Story.”

“I really started to think that this one really reminds me of this moment in ‘The Never-Ending Story.’ It always stuck out to me as a kid- first they’re like ‘wait you’re just a kid lol we need a warrior,'” wrote the musician on his social media page.  “Then they’re like ‘ok you’ll do I guess you’ll do’ and then ‘no one can help you and if you don’t do this our entire world dies, so no pressure.'” Listen to “Champion” here.

“Champion” will join lead single “Young and Menace” on Fall Out Boy’s upcoming seventh studio album. M A N I A is set to be released on Sept. 15 with pre-orders currently available on the band’s website here.

In support of the new album, Fall Out Boy previously announced a massive tour scheduled to take place later this year. The “M A N I A tour” will kick off on Oct. 20 at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland and wrap up almost a month later on Nov. 18 at the Talking Stick Resort Arena in Phoenix. The complete list of tour dates can be found here.

Before embarking on their North American tour, Fall Out Boy has announced a special show that will be held at the House of Blues in the group’s hometown of Chicago on Sept. 16. Due to the size of the venue, the band has launched a Verified Fan registration to ensure that fans will first access to tickets. More information about that can be found on the band’s website.

In addition to the Verified Fan registration, the group has also revealed that $1 from every ticket sold will go towards the Fall Out Boy Fund. The band created the fund as a way to give back to charities in Chicago.

Fall Out Boy announces new record with new song and massive tour

Last week, Fall Out Boy began to tease that something big was on the horizon. At the time, the band had promised all would be revealed on Friday, April 28. Feeling in a giving mood, the four-piece updated fans the following day that the big reveal would be a done a day earlier. On Thursday (April 27), the Chicago-founded band kept their promise and unveiled a slew of good news.

Sending out a mass email to their legion of followers, the band unveiled that they will be releasing their seventh studio album in the fall. The new record will be titled M A N I A and is set to hit stores on Sept. 15. While they did confirm the release date, the band did slip in that more surprises will be unleashed between now and then.

In addition to announcing the new record, the group also unveiled the music video for its lead single; a track titled “Young and Menace.” Sounding very “unlike Fall Out Boy,” as many fans have pointed out, the new song does give the impression that the band is trying to expand their sounds from what we are accustomed to hearing. While the audio version of the track would have been enough, FOB unveiled the official music video to accompany the song’s debut. Watch “Young and Menace” above.

Because announcing a new record and debuting a new song wasn’t enough for Fall Out Boy, the guys also announced a massive North American tour to coincide with the album’s release. The “M A N I A Tour” will kick off on Oct. 20 at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland and wrap up almost a month later on Nov. 18 at the Talking Stick Resort Arena in Phoenix. Tickets will officially go on sale beginning next Friday, May 5. For those who want to get their hands on tickets first, Fall Out Boy is giving those a special opportunity to do so.

If you pre-order M A N I A before Sunday (April 30), you will be given a pre-sale code to purchase tickets and VIP packages beginning Monday (May 1) at 10 a.m. local times. As a special bonus treat, Fall Out Boy has reduced the price of their album bundles until Sunday. Then on Monday, prices will be raised. the group has also announced that  $1 from every ticket sold will go towards the Fall Out Boy Fund; a fund to give back to their hometown of Chicago. For more information about the tour or the new album, head on over to Fall Out Boy’s website while the full list of tour dates can be seen below.

M A N I A is the follow-up to the group’s lukewarm-received sixth studio album, 2015’s American Beauty/ American Psycho.
