Lovelytheband is back to give their fans all the feels with their latest music video. On Friday (April 19), the California-founded band unleashed the music video for their latest single “maybe, i’m afraid.”
The almost-four-minute clip for the song finds a man reminiscing about his journey to come to terms with his sexuality. The video begins with him as a kid, playing catch with his father, but then sneaking away to read “girly” magazines. As he grows into a young adult, we watch as he begins a relationship with a woman, but by the way they interact, it doesn’t look like he’s in it for love, but rather to hide his true self.
Following a lot of awkward interactions and a massive fight, it looks to be over. He doesn’t seem to take it well as he runs off to the beach and goes into the water; probably his lowest point in life. As he moves into adulthood, we watch as his father appears with what looks like a ring box. The footage shifts to the man now standing at the altar, his father looking all happy for him. As the camera slightly shifts, we see that he’s marrying another man (his father looks so happy for him, crying happy tears).
Watch the music video for “maybe, i’m afraid” above.
The video is a joint effort between the band and Beyond I Do, a campaign to raise awareness of the discrimination millions of LGBT Americans face every day and to promote equality for all Americans.
The idea to join forces with Beyond I Do came after the band learned that LGBTQ Americans in 30 states can legally be fired, evicted or denied service just because of their sexuality. Instead of turning a blind eye to this, the group decided to address this issue with the music video.
“maybe, i’m afraid” joins lovelytheband’s hit single “broken” on the group’s debut record finding it hard to smile.
The band is currently on the road for their finding it hard to smile tour with Flora Cash and Jagwar Twins. Lovelytheband’s upcoming tour itinerary also includes appearances at several music festivals such as Hangout Festival, BottleRock Napa Valley, Firefly Music Festival, and Bunbury Festival.
Cardi B is here to remind everyone that’s she’s here to “make money move,” and her 21 Billboard Music Awards nominations are proof of that.
On Thursday (April 4), Billboard unveiled the full list of nominees for this year’s Billboard Music Awards. The “Bodak Yellow” rapper leads the pack with a total of 21 nominations in several main categories like “Top Artist,” “Top Hot 100 Artist,” “Top Streaming Artist,” “Top Billboard 200 Album,” and more.
The “I Like It” rapper’s number of nominations this year puts her just shy of meeting the record-breaking amount of nominations —22— which was set by Drake and the Chainsmokers in 2017.
Following Cardi B with the most nominations are Drake and Post Malone. Both artists received a total of 17 nominations apiece. The rappers will go head-to-head in several categories including “Top Rap Artist,” “Top Billboard 200 Album,” “Top Rap Song,” and “Top Rap Male Artist.”
Behind Drake and Post Malone is Travis Scott with a total of 12 nominations. Scott will compete in many of the same categories as Cardi B, Drake, and Post Malone.
If you’re looking for who’s representing the rock and alternative genres at the Billboard Music Awards, you don’t need to look very far; there aren’t many rock bands on the list. Maroon 5 leads the “rock” genre with a total of seven nominations while Imagine Dragons come in with a total of six (double nomination in the “Top Rock Song” category).
Panic! at the Disco comes in with four nominations while Twenty One Pilots and lovelytheband are tied with two apiece.
This year, the Billboard Music Awards will feature two fan-voted categories; “Top Social Artist” and “Chart Achievement.”
The 2019 Billboard Music Awards will take place at the MGM Garden Arena in Las Vegas on May 1. The show will air live on NBC at 8 p.m. ET. Kelly Clarkson will host the event. Clarkson, with the help of country duo Dan + Shay, announced the full list of nominees on the “Today” show earlier in the day.
The full list of categories and their nominees can be found below.

Imagine Dragons, Mumford and Sons, and Neil Young are just some of the musicians who will make their way to California in the spring for the 2019 incarnation of the BottleRock Napa Valley Music Festival. On Monday (Jan. 7), music festival organizers unveiled their musically diverse lineup for this year’s festivities due to take place in late-May.
Joining the aforementioned acts on the bill this year will be OneRepublic, Flogging Molly, Jenny Lewis, AJR, Lovelytheband, Pharrell Williams, Logic, Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweat, Juanes, Against Me!, and two of the “greatest living guitarists” Gary Clark Jr. and Carlos Santana.
“We definitely put the emphasis on the rock in BottleRock, with Santana and Gary Clark Jr. We’re also strong on the Latino influence with Santana and Juanes. And Pharrell Williams has produced some of the most well-known songs today,” Dave Graham of BottleRock Presents said in a statement.
“Imagine Dragons can cater to 12-year-olds, soccer moms and 25- to 30-year-olds, and their music appeals to my age and up. I’m 46. Since they played BottleRock the first time in 2015, they’ve taken off and exploded. In 2017, they came out with ‘Believer,’ ‘Thunder,’ ‘Whatever It Takes’ and ‘Natural.’ We’re glad to have them back,” adds Graham.
In total over 80 acts will take over one of six stages during the three-day event.
In addition to the rocking roster, the event will also include access to wine, food, and craft beers all from the Napa Valley area as well as a culinary stage, VIP experiences, spa and salon options, and a silent disco.
Three-day passes for the upcoming festival go on sale beginning this Tuesday. Jan. 8, at 10 a.m. PT. Single-day passes will go on sale this Thursday, Jan. 10. For more information about the music festival, tickets, or the lineup, head on over to BottleRock’s website here.
BottleRock will take place in Napa Valley during the weekend of May 24 – 26. Doors open each day at 11:30 a.m. while the last act ends at 10 p.m. each night.
The full lineup for this year’s BottleRock can be found below.
It’s been several years since 104.3 The Shark invaded the air waves of South Florida and by the looks of how many artists have made their way down south, they are definitely staying true to their goal of bringing in the biggest rock musicians to one of the most forgotten parts of the country. After spending much of the week dropping hints on their social media accounts in the form of stitching art, South Florida’s only rock radio station announced their much-anticipated lineup for the 2018 incarnation of their annual Sharkwrecked at the Riptide Music Festival.
On Friday (Sept. 7), during their morning show “The Big Mistake,” hosts Ashley O. and Spanish unveiled the complete list of artists who will descend on South Florida during the first week of December for the festival. Day one will primarily feature artists who are currently finding homes on the rock and alternative radio charts.
Headlining the first day of the event will Panic! at the Disco, who earlier this summer unleashed not only their sixth studio Pray for the Wicked by also hit the touring circuit for a massive North American tour. Also taking the stage during the first night of the two-day event will be Sublime with Rome, Young the Giant, Blue October, Cold War Kids, lovelytheband, and Shipwrecked alums the Dirty Heads and Robert DeLong.
While day one’s lineup primarily focuses on artists who are currently appealing to the general masses, day two will feature a more throwback-centric lineup with acts like 311, LIVE, Third Eye Blind, Collective Soul, Sugar Ray, Everclear, and newly added Matt and Kim.
Pre-sale tickets for members of the station’s Chum Club will go on sale beginning next Wednesday, Sept. 12, at 10 a.m. local time and conclude on Thursday, Sept. 13, at 10 p.m. local time. After that, general ticket sales will begin.
Earlier in the month, the radio station revealed that the one-day event geared towards the younger rock fans had expanded to two days.
Sharkwrecked at the Riptide Music Festival will return to its home of Fort Lauderdale Beach in Fort Lauderdale, Florida during the weekend of Dec. 1-2.
The official poster for the event can be seen below.
Lovelytheband may currently be in the middle of their tour with AWOLNATION, but don’t expect the act to take any time off once that summer trek ends. Last week, the Los Angeles-founded group announced plans to keep their nonstop touring party going with another major excursion during the months of August, September, and October.
Titled the “Broken Like Me” tour —after their breakout single “Broken”— the fall tour will begin on Aug. 15 at the Velvet Underground in Toronto, Ontario and conclude on Oct. 19 at the Basement in Columbus, Ohio. While the vast majority of the tour dates were confirmed on social media by the band, it looks like there are still some shows that the group has yet to formally announce.
Tickets for the “Broken Like Me” tour are currently available on lovelytheband’s website.
Following a quick break, the trio will then cross the Atlantic to join 5 Seconds of Summer on the United Kingdom/European leg of their “Meet You There” tour. Tickets for those shows will go on sale beginning this Friday, June 15.
Thanks to their breakout single, lovelytheband has found lots of success on the radio waves and the music charts. Since the release of “Broken” in July of 2017, the song has racked over three million streams on Spotify and charted at the number one spot on Billboard’s Alternative Songs chart. After weeks of sitting at the number two spot on the Rock Airplay chart, “Broken” finally managed to dethrone Imagine Dragons’ latest hit “Whatever it Takes.”
Recently, the group released their latest single “These are My Friends.” Listen to the new tune above while the complete “Broken Like Me” tour itinerary can be found below.
