Grammy Nominations Concert to be Held in December

The Grammy’s have announced that they will be holding the Grammy’s Nomination Concert Live on December 6, where all the nominees for the yearly award show will be revealed.

Last year, the concert special had been held in Nashville, but this year, the association have chosen to go back home to Los Angeles for the revealing of the nominees. The hour-long CBS concert special will take place at the Nokia Theatre L.A. live on Friday, December 6 at 10 p.m. EST.

Kind of a bad timing for those that like to actually go out Friday nights, but we guess that’s why TiVo and DVR were created.

Not only will the nominees be announced, but like the titled states, there will be some artists hitting the stage during the broadcast. Now, who will actually be gracing the stage to perform and present is still unknown, but that information should be coming our way sometime soon, at least according to the press released issued by the academy earlier today.

Last year, the concert was held at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. The show was hosted by Taylor Swift and LL Cool J while performers for the evening included Maroon 5, Ne-Yo, fun. and Hunter Hayes.

As for the actual Grammy Awards, it will be broadcast live on CBS on January 26, 2013 from the Staples Center in Los Angeles starting at 8 p.m. EST.

T.Swift and J.Lo ‘From the Block’

“Don’t be fooled by the awards that she’s got, she’s still T. Swift from the block”

Just in case that wasn’t enough of a hint of who Taylor Swift had as her special guest at her final tour stop at Los Angeles’ Staples Center then we don’t know what is.

Just yesterday, we got video of Swift performed with Ellie Goulding her 2012 hit song, “Anything Could Happen” and today we received another video of the pop star bringing another pop star on stage to sing her hit song; Jennifer Lopez.

Swift starts off the introduction by reminiscing about when she was a little girl.

“You know how you have your favorite song that you just play over and over and over again,” she said. “You just blast it in your room and you’d sing in front of your mirror into a hairbrush, right? You have that one favorite song. It was your favorite song to dance to. Los Angeles, this is my hairbrush song.”

The audience which included about 15,000 Swift fans heard the opening notes of Lopez’s 2002 song from her third album, This is Me…Then.

Watch the video of the two pop star sing the song and strut around the stage surrounded by Lopez’s dancers.

Miguel Arrested for D.U.I.

When you’ve got a song with the titled, “How Many Drinks?” you might have to start to wonder if it came from past experience and for Miguel, it looks like that just happened.

The singer who has become famous for injuring a girl during his leapfrog stunt at the American Music Awards, as much for his music, was arrest early this morning for drunken driving in Los Angeles.

The  singer was pulled over by California Highway Patrol at around 2:15 a.m. when they noticed his BMW speeding. When they pulled him over, officers reportedly smelled alcohol on him and proceeded to fail several  field sobriety tests.

When he was given the breathalyzer tests, the “Adorn” singer blew .10 and .11; in California, the legal limit is .08. Officials said that he was very cooperative the entire time and was later released on $5,000 bail at 5 a.m.

The Grammy winner, who’s full name according to the arrest report is Miguel Pimentel, is currently scheduled to be back in court Sept. 9 in Los Angeles.

Now this would be the part where all the “How Many Drinks?” jokes can start.

System of a Down Releasing New Music Soon?

UPDATE: A day after we published this, it turned out that frontman Serj Tankian has once again put to rest any rumors of the band releasing a new album soon. During an AMA on Reddit yesterday, Tankian answered a fan’s question about the talk of a new album coming soon by saying the following:

“No, that is not true. A quick scan of press online will show that we have not yet agreed on a timetable for another record due to its time commitments.”

Then the fan continued by writing the frontman, “Seriously I think everyone wants a new System Of A Down album. It’s been too long since the last one.”

Tankian then stated, “We really appreciate that, but we have to make a record when we think it’s time, not anyone else.”

Guess that just squashed all fans’ hopes, huh?

Could System of a Down be working an a new album?

Well, that’s been the question being asked for a couple of month now, but thanks to a YouTube video posted online, this might be the proof needed to reassure fans that the band are not joking around.

During their one-off show in Los Angeles earlier this week at the Hollywood Bowl, drummer John Dolmayan was recorded shouting at the audience, “Next time we come back here, we’ll have a new fucking album.”

While the band haven’t exactly been hurrying to clarify or confirm this rumor, issues and differences within the band since had surfaced about what would become of the album following 2005’s Mesmerize/Hypnotize. In May, bassist Shavo Odadjian wrote a now-deleted Facebook post about how frontman, Serj Tankian, was holding them back. That added fuel that the band might be going their own route and even be searching for a new frontman to replace Tankian.

Of course, the band released a statement which said that Odadjian’s comment was the result of “a temporary state of bad judgment on his part alone.”

While Odadjian, feels the way that he does about the pace of the band making new music, Tankian says that he’s in no hurry to put out new music. “I can’t write a forced record,” he said while being interviewed by ArtistDirct back in June. “It’s like romancing someone at a time you don’t want to be romantic.”

“A new record requires three years. It’s not something I can do right now. When I can commit to a three-year album cycle, I’ll be down to do it,”  he added.

When not with the band, Tankian has had a successful career as a solo artist releasing Jazz-iz-Christ and Orca earlier this year. Last year, he exercised his political activism muscle by joining forces with Rage Against the Machine guitarist, Tom Morello for the occupy Wall Street’s one-year anniversary.

As for System of a Down, they have another show on  August 7 at Russia’s Kubana festival.

Lil Wayne Leaves Hospital

The fact that Lil’ Wayne has managed to leave the hospital an exact week after allegedly having a seizure that almost killed him, is a miracle in itself.

Last week, the Young Money rapper was reportedly rushed to Los Angeles’ Cedar-Sinai Hospital because of a seizure that almost killed him. According to gossip site, TMZ, the rapper has suffered a seizure due to an overdose of codeine and even had to get his stomach pumped three times.

After the initial news hit the headlines last Friday, there were many contradicting statements about what was happening at Camp Weezy. First his people claimed that he was okay, just watching basketball but then a tweet sent out on the rapper’s officially Twitter said that he was “okay” and “alive” and thanking the fans for all their prayers. The same evening, a hospital worker said that there was no way that such a tweet could have been sent by Lil’ Wayne since he was fast asleep at the time.

When talk of the seizure being cause by an overdose started to run rapid, many of his friends including mentor, Birdman said that there was no way that the seizure was caused by an overdose, it could be attributed to all the stress that the rapper had on his shoulder he said in an interview with Hot 97 DJ, Miss Info.

Lil’ Wayne is reportedly doing well at home, just laying low and getting better, but his new album, I Am Not a Human Being II is still set to drop on March 26.
