State Champs take fans behind the scenes in ‘Mine is Gold’

Last month, State Champs announced the release of their third studio album with a brand new song titled “Dead and Gone.” Soon after, they followed it up by premiering another new jam titled “Crystal Ball.” Now, the group is giving fans yet another taste of the impending release. On Thursday (May 24), the New York-founded band joined forces with Billboard to unleash the music video for “Mine is Gold.”

The barely three-minute clip features black-and-white footage of the band in the studio recording what we can assume is the new album. In between footage of the guys being serious in the studio, the fans get to see them let loose by going fishing, riding a bike, watching hockey, and even shooting footage of a bag of Skittles. “Mine is Gold” will join previously released singles “Dead and Gone” and “Crystal Ball” on the group’s forthcoming album. Living Proof is due out June 15 through Pure Noise Records. Pre-orders for the new album are available on the band’s website.

In support of Living Proof‘s release, State Champs will hit the road this summer on the final Vans Warped tour excursion. The full Warped Tour itinerary can be found here.

State Champs announce new album with new song

Earlier this week, State Champs uploaded a cryptic, hypnotic photo on their Twitter account leading fans to quickly speculate what was going on with them. As many assumed at the time, it was just the beginning of the band announcing their new era. On Thursday (April 19), the New York-founded band announced the release of their third studio album, Living Proof. Instead of just confirming that a new set of tunes was coming out in a couple of months, the band unleashed the music video for the album’s lead single, “Dead and Gone.”

The three-and-a-half minute clip begins with a guy passed out in what appears to be an abandoned warehouse. He wakes up and notices that there is what appears to be an old-school iPod next to him. He picks it up, places the ear buds in his ears, and presses play. On the other side of the mini speakers are the guys of State Champs performing the song from what looks like an airplane hangar.

While the music plays through the ear buds, the protagonist is looking at a wall that has random newspaper clips. After a while, he decides to leave the warehouse only to be corner by two guys wearing gorilla masks. He quickly makes up his mind to run away from the two men, trying his hardest to elude them eventually succeeding in his mission.

“Dead and Gone” will be featured on Living Proof which is set to be released on June 15 through Pure Noise Records. Pre-orders for the new album are available on the band’s website. The band is offering several different bundles to satisfy every fan.

In support of Living Proof‘s release, State Champs will spend the summer touring around the country on the final trek of the Vans Warped Tour. Those dates can be found here.

Living Proof is the follow-up to the group’s 2015 release, Around the World and Back. Around the World and Back peaked at the number 30 spot on the Billboard 200 chart and the number three spot on both the Top Alternative Albums chart and the Top Rock Albums chart.
