Kendrick Lamar, Ed Sheeran lead 2018 Billboard Music Awards nominations
The 2018 Billboard Music Awards nominees have been unveiled and it looks like Kendrick Lamar and Ed Sheeran are leading the pack with the most nominations this year. On Tuesday (April 17), the official list of nominees for this year’s event was announced, revealing that Lamar and Sheeran are tied with a total of 15 nominations apiece. Both Grammy winners’ nominations include Top Artist, Top Billboard 200 Album, Top Hot 100 Song, and Top Selling Album.
Coming in second with a total of 14 nominations is Bruno Mars. Mars, who is also a recent Grammy winner, is nominated for Top Radio Songs Artist, Top R&B Artist, and Top R&B Song which features two of his current hits (“That’s What I Like” and “Finesse” with Cardi B).
Right behind Mars is Post Malone with a total of 12 nominations. The “Rockstar” rapper’s nominations include Top Collaboration with 21 Savage for “Rockstar,” Top Streaming Songs Artist, and Top Streaming Song (Audio) which features two of his songs (“Rockstar” and “Congratulations”).
Injecting the awards show with a little bit of rock are the guys from Imagine Dragons who garnered a total of 10 nominations this year. The Las Vegas guys’ nominations include Top Radio Song, Top Duo/Group, and Top Selling Song which include two of their Evolve singles; “Believer” and “Thunder.”
Tied with a total of eight nominations apiece are Cardi B and Justin Bieber. The Bronx-based rapper’s nominations include Top Streaming Songs Artist, Top Streaming Song (Video) for “Bodak Yellow (Money Moves),” and Top New Artist.
As for Bieber, most of his nominations come in the form of song contributions (Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee’s “Despactio” and DJ Khaled’s “I’m the One”). The only non-contribtuion nomination the pop star received this year is in the Top Social Artist category.
The 2018 Billboard Music Awards will take place on May 20, live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The complete event will air live on NBC beginning at 8 p.m. EST. Tickets for the awards show went on sale last week and can currently be purchase here.

Listen: Linkin Park unveil their ‘Battle Symphony’
A week ago, Linkin Park unveiled the dark and emotional music video for their song “Heavy” which found frontman Chester Bennington battle with his alcohol addiction. Now, the band has treated fans to another new song off One More Light. On Friday (March 17), the California-founded band unveiled the lyric video for their new single, “Battle Symphony.” Listen/watch the lyric video for the new song above.
Earlier this week guitarist/co-vocalist/rapper Mike Shinoda teased fans on social media by “thinking” about releasing another new song from the impending record. “I think we should put out another song today,” Shinoda wrote on Twitter on Thursday. Staying true to this thought/tease, Linkin Park released the second official single from their upcoming seventh studio album.
“Battle Symphony” will join lead single “Heavy” on One More Light. One More Light is set to be released on May 19 and marks the group’s first new album since 2014’s The Hunting Party. Pre-orders for the new album are currently available on the band’s website.
Watch: Linkin Park goes dark with ‘Heavy’ video
Last month, Linkin Park unveiled their brand new song, following months of posting behind-the-scenes looks at the making of their new album. The song, “Heavy” was met with some mixed reactions from fans, but that didn’t deterred the band. On Thursday (March 9), the California-founded group unleashed the emotionally charged and gloomy video for the new tune.
The music video predominately features frontman Chester Bennington and the track’s guest vocalist, Kiiara. The majority of the two and a half-minute clip finds both Bennington and Kiiara in what appears to be an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting. In between shots of Bennington and Kiiara at the meeting, we see the frontman at “home” where he is surrounded by bottles of alcohol and not exactly in his right mind. He goes on rampages and destroys things at a drop of a hat which doesn’t seem to be isolated to when he is home. Watch the music video for “Heavy” above.
“Heavy” will be featured on Linkin Park’s upcoming new studio record, One More Light. One More Light is set to be released on May 19 and will be the follow-up to the band’s 2014 release, The Hunting Party. Pre-orders for the new album are currently available on the band’s website.
During a recent interview, guitarist/co-vocalist/rapper Mike Shinoda, revealed that “Heavy” is just a taste of what listeners should expect from the impending release.
“This wasn’t a scenario where the whole album sounds one way and the single sounds different. This is how the album sounds,” Shinoda explains. “So we wanted to go out with a song like that, where everybody can get a sense of the direction of this body of work.”
Watch Motionless in White Cover Linkin Park
Motionless in White treated fans in Boston to a nice throwback with a Linkin Park cover. During their stop at Boston’s House of Blues on Monday (Oct. 19), the Pennsylvania band treated fans to a cover of “One Step Closer” which ended up being a pretty good cover of Linkin Park’s Hybrid Theory hit. Check out the fan-shot video of the cover below.
As with any fan-shot video, we do give a warning that the audio is a little hard to hear (Chris Motionless sounds drowned out), but the actual footage is probably one of the better videos we’ve seen in a while. Also, there is a lot of use of flashing lights, so be warned.
Motionless in White are currently in the middle of their co-headlining “Apollo X Tour” with The Devil Wears Prada. The two bands alongside opening acts The Word Alive, Upon A Burning Body, and the Color Morale, are scheduled to perform at the London Music Hall in London, Ontario, tonight (Oct. 21).
For the complete list of tour dates for the co-headlining trek, head on over here for all the upcoming stops.

Canada’s Amnesia Rockfest Announce Tenth Anniversary Line-Up and Reunions
Canada’s Amnesia Rockfest will be celebrating its tenth anniversary in a big way this year with artists like System of a Down, Linkin Park, The Offspring, and Slayer making the trip to Montebello, QC for the weekend-long festivities.
But even with the big name headliners for this year’s event, it looks like the theme might be reunions and anniversaries. One of the several bands reuniting this year at the show will be Thrice, who officially said good-bye to fans in 2012.
Late last year, the band posted a cryptic photograph on their social media accounts with the band’s name and “2015.” Since then, there have been no updates unless you count frontman Dustin Kensrue releasing a new song yesterday or drummer Riley Breckenridge being part of Angels and Airwaves.
The new year is a month and a half in and it looks like one of the big things coming for them in 2015 is a reunion at the show. The timing of the reunion couldn’t come at a better time for fans of the California band since their fourth studio record, Vheissu, turns ten in October.
Sadly, this is as close as we have gotten to any updates from the Thrice camp.
But don’t leave it to Thrice to have all the fun during the weekend; Refused, From Autumn to Ashes and Atreyu will all be reuniting during the weekend-long festival. but like we said, it seems Amnesia is taking a page out of Riot Fest’s book and having bands performing some important albums from their discography in full.
The Offspring will perform Americana, the Deftones will perform Around the Fur and Rancid will perform…And Out Come the Wolves.
Check out the full line-up below.
Amnesia Rockfest will take place during the weekend of June 18-21.

With the initial announcement made last year, the festival had revealed that acts like Metallica, No Doubt, Deftones, Linkin Park, John Legend, and Taylor Swift had been confirmed to perform at the inaugural event.
Now, the festival organizers have announced the complete, massive line-up for the event slated to take place over the course of two weekends in May.
Announced via a press conference, Sam Smith, Charli XCX, Bleachers, Jessie J, Magic!, The Pretty Reckless, Hollywood Undead, Foster the People, Gary Clark Jr., Saints of Valory, Of Mice and Men, and many more were added to the original line-up from last year.
“We want different flavors. We want different types of artists,” said Roberta Medina, daughter of festival founder Robert Medina in a voice over about the chosen performers.
Tickets for Rock in Rio USA will go on sale beginning this upcoming Monday, Jan. 19 at the festival’s website. General-admission weekend passes will put attendees back $298 while VIP weekend tickets with access to VIP areas, open bars, buffet, and access to an exclusive entrance will cost those interested, $498.
The first weekend, named the “Rock Weekend,” will take place May 8-9, while the second weekend, named the “Pop Weekend,” will take place May 15-16 at the City of Rock MGM Resorts Festival Grounds.
It is estimated that a grand total of 240,000 to 320,000 attendees will show up during the course of the weekend with festival organizers hoping to have 80,000 a day though they admit it might be more like 60,000 attendees per day.
