Beartooth add new members to lineup

Beartooth fans may notice some new faces when the band hits the stage alongside A Day to Remember and Silverstein later this month. On Friday (June 8), the Ohio-founded band formally announced the addition of two new members; guitarist Zach Huston (ex-Like Moths to Flames) and drummer Connor Denis. Taking to social media, Beartooth vocalist Caleb Shomo confirmed the news.

“Just to clear the air Connor Denis is the drummer of Beartooth. Zach Huston is the guitar player of Beartooth. Full official members. This is the lineup. Ride the lightning.”

The new additions come a few months after the band’s longtime guitarist, Taylor Lumley, announced his departure. Back in April, Lumley posted on social media that he had made the hard decision of leaving the band so that he could focus “on my life and my art.” While some band departures are not exactly amicable, Lumley reassured fans that there is no ill will between him and the other guys in the band or their crew.

Prior to Lumley’s departure, Shomo had confirmed that the group was in the process of working on new music, thought it was taking a little longer than usual. According to the musician, the band was taking their time because they wanted the new record to be the album fans deserve.

“This record is extremely important to me, mainly because I feel like I owe you all the record you deserve.”

The still-in-the-works record will be the follow-up to Beartooth’s last studio album, 2016’s Aggressive.

Though things seem a little quiet on the Beartooth front, the new lineup will appear at three Vans Warped Tour stops this summer; July 19 at the Riverbend Music Center in Cincinnati, July 20 at the Meadow Brook Amphitheatre in Detroit, and July 21 at the Hollywood Casino Amphitheater in Chicago.

Former Asking Alexandria frontman officially returns to band

aa2014

In a shocking update, Asking Alexandria has announced that former frontman Danny Worsnop has returned to the band, replacing Denis Stoff. On Friday (Oct. 21), founding member/guitarist Ben Bruce made the revelation in an eight-and-a-half minute clip. About a minute into the Facebook live video, Bruce confirms that the band, and Stoff, had departed ways; barely two years after the Make Me Famous singer joined the group. Bruce explains that the band did not kick Stoff out, but rather, the former singer just stopped speaking to them all together.

“Basically, to a cut a long story short, we didn’t kick Denis out of the band. He just stopped talking to us,” Bruce explains in the clip. “Everything seemed fine and then he just stopped responding. I texted him a bunch, loads of emails back and forth, no response whatsoever.”

As the video continues, we hear Bruce’s side of the story as well as if he regretted adding Stoff to the lineup for the year and a half that he was with them. “Do I regret the last year and a half I spent touring the world with Denis? Absolutely not. Do I regret releasing and writing The Black? Absolutely not. Do I go back on anything I said? Absolutely not. The Black was a very honest and open record and that is I felt at the time, how we all felt at the time. We’ve moved on, we’ve moved upwards. I’m not gonna sit here and talk shit on Denis, he came into this band and he was amazing for us at the time. We had a blast with him, we had the best time ever.”

But one good thing came out of Stoff’s not-so-sublte departure; original singer Worsnop and the rest of the guys of Asking Alexandria have buried the hatchet. Last month, Worsnop had teased posted on social media that he was on his way to visit Bruce and From First To Last’s Matt Good to “maybe play a little music.”

“Obviously over the last sort of few months we’ve rekindled our relationship with Danny and what happened in the past sucked and it hurt us, obviously I said things and Danny has said things—that happens,” says Bruce in the video. “It was in the past and it was shit. But at the end of the day, we’ve been best friends for a decade and that’s why this is the move that’s right for us. Right for us as a band. Right for us as people and friends and right for us as Asking Alexandria. This is full circle. This is right back where we started and why we started the band.”

Worsnop left the band in early 2015 when he decided “to pursue other musical interests” in the form of his band We Are Harlot. Shortly after Worsnop’s departure, the remaining members enlisted Stoff to take over vocals for not only their live shows, but also for their recently released record, The Black.

Bruce’s Facebook live stream can currently be viewed here, while the complete transcript of the video, courtesy of The PRP, can be found here. Asking Alexandria is set to hit the road for Sumerian Records’ “10 Years of the Black” tour. The British band will travel across the country with Born of Osiris, I See Stars, After the Burial, Upon A Burning Body, and Bad Omens. The trek will kick off on Oct. 25 at the Showbox Sodo in Seattle and wrap up on Dec. 6 at Livewire in Scottsdale, Ariz. The complete list of tour dates can be seen below.

iHeartRadio announce 2016 iHeartRadio Music Festival Daytime Village performers

The sixth annual iHeartRadio Music Festival may be taking place this September, but the yearly event has just unveiled who well be hitting the stage at their daytime village. On Thursday (April 7), it was announced that acts like the recently reunited Good Charlotte, Panic! at the Disco, Cold War Kids, and Cage the Elephant will perform at the festival’s Daytime Village.

The Chainsmokers, Jeremih, Daya, and Lissie will join the four bands as well as previously announced artists, Sam Hunt and Alessia Cara. The iHeartRadio Music Festival’s Daytime Village event will return to the Las Vegas Village across from the Luxor Hotel and Casino on Sept. 24.

“In just three years, the Daytime Village has become the perfect complement to the historic iHeartRadio Music Festival,” said president of national programming group for iHeartMedia Tom Poleman. “Fans love the village vibe where they can check out their favorite artists in all different genres while partying on the strip with their favorite iHeartRadio personalities.”

This year, the iHeartRadio Music Festival will celebrate its sixth-year anniversary. While the Daytime Village performers have been announced, those waiting for the actual festival performers will have to wait a little longer. That lineup will reportedly be announced later this summer. The iHeartRadio Music Festival will take place on Friday, Sept. 23 and Saturday, Sept. 24.

Taste of Chaos announces first tour in over five years

image

Taste of Chaos made a triumphant return in 2015 with its one-day music festival in California and now, it looks like they are ready to conquer North America once again. On Monday (March 14), it was announced that the Vans Warped Tour’s sister festival will once again hit the road in 2016. Instead of traveling across the country in the winter which is how it earned its nickname, Winter Warped, the traveling rock show will take place during the spring/summer.

But if the plans to hit the road after six years of radio silence isn’t enough to get you to go, then the bands that will hit the road on the tour will convince you. Bands like Taking Back Sunday, Dashboard Confessional, and The Early November will headline all the tour dates. Saosin, Motion City Soundtrack, and The Starting Line will also play selected dates. This will be the second full tour this year that Saosin will go on that will feature former vocalist Anthony Green on the microphone. Unlike this being good news for Saosin fans, this tour might mark the last time Motion City Soundtrack hits the road together before their indefinite hiatus.

The 2016 Rockstar Energy Drink’s Taste of Chaos tour kick-off on June 3 at the FirstMerit Bank Pavilion at Northerly Island in Chicago and wrap up a month-and-a-half later on July 16 at the San Manuel Amphitheater in San Bernardino, CA; the place where the resurrection of Taste of Chaos all began last October. Rock on the Range Unveil More Information About Tenth Anniversary

Rock on the Range will be celebrating its tenth anniversary this spring. Festival organizers previously confirmed that a slew of artists including the newly reunited At the Drive-In, Rob Zombie, A Day to Remember, Bring Me the Horizon, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Lamb of God, Disturbed, and more would be making their way to the MAPFRE Stadium in Columbus, OH in late May. Now, festival organizers have unveiled another huge band heading to the three-day music festival.

On Monday (Feb. 8), Rock on the Range organizers revealed that the Deftones have been added to their list. The California band recently revealed that their new album, Gore, would be released on April 8, a little over a month before they take the stage at Rock on the Range. “Rock On The Range has always been a show we enjoy playing, and to be a part of the tenth year is particularly exciting for us, especially with a new album in tow. See you all in May,” Deftones frontman Chino Moreno said.

In addition to the Deftones joining the lineup, it was also revealed that on Saturday (May 21), Rock on the Range will include a live version of VH1 Classic’s program, That Metal Show. The live show will feature interviews with various bands on the lineup, a “Stump The Trunk” segment, and That Metal Show commentary by hosts Eddie Trunk, Don Jamieson, and Jim Florentine.

Tickets for the Ohio-based festival are currently available on the festival’s website, but it is recommended that those who are digging the lineup so far get their tickets as soon as possible. Beginning Monday, Feb. 22, the prices of all tickets will increase. Weekend general admission prices will increase to $229.50 (plus fees) while weekend stadium general admission tickets will go up to $159.50 (plus fees).
