After confirming to fans that new music was on the horizon, Trent Reznor and the rest of Nine Inch Nails have come through. On Thursday (July 13), the industrial icons revealed that they will be releasing a new EP at the end of July. The new five-track record, which has been titled ADD VIOLENCE, will be the second installment of their EP trilogy. At the end of 2016, the band released the first installment, Not the Actual Events. To accompany the ADD VIOLENCE announcement, Nine Inch Nails has also released the lead single from the record, “Less Than.” Watch the Brook Linder-directed clip for the new tune above.
ADD VIOLENCE is set to be released digitally on July 21, but if physically copies are your thing, you will need to wait a little longer. The CD and vinyl versions of the upcoming album will see a release date of Sept. 1. Pre-orders for the record can currently be found on Nine Inch Nails’ website. In addition to the new songs, fans will reportedly receive a “physical component” to the album. The group did the same when Not the Actual Events was released. The physical component for the 2016 release was a mysterious black powder which was packaged with a warning that read: “This will make a mess.” No details have been given about what ADD VIOLENCE’s physical component will be.
ADD VIOLENCE’s release confirmation comes a month after Reznor unveiled that the group will be releasing a trio of EPs with last year’s effort being the first installment. The full track listing for the album can be seen below while the group’s upcoming festival appearance can be seen below that.
