La Dispute Guitarist Parts Way with Band

During the weekend, fans of La Dispute got some saddening news; the band would be losing guitarist Kevin Whittemore.

Whittemore, who helped found the Grand Rapids band, revealed during their hometown show Sunday (April 13), he would no longer be a member of the band. At the time of his announcement, there had been no official reason behind his sudden departure. Two day later, the band’s publicist has confirmed that he has in fact left the band.

“This band has been a dream come true for me… I thank God every day for giving me this opportunity,” the guitarist said, according to a post by Alternative Press.

Though Whittemore had a desire to the leave the band for the unknown reason, it was nice to see that he stayed on the band’s headlining United States tour until the last tour stop in Cleveland last night. Considering the curiosity of fans, an official statement on behalf of the band should be expected.

As for their upcoming European tour which is scheduled to begin on April 27 in Munich, Germany, it can only assume that the tour is still on though, there has been no word on who will be replacing Whittemore. Their upcoming tour is slated to begin in Germany and then visit several places including Austria, Russia, the United Kingdom, and Singapore. After that, they will head to Australia where they will tour from June 7 to June 20 followed by two stops in New Zealand.
