Dan Reynolds, Kesha, Tegan & Sara to headline LoveLoud Festival 2019

Kesha, Tegan & Sara, and Martin Garrix are just some of the acts who will make their way to Utah in the summer for the annual LoveLoud Festival. On Wednesday (March 13), festival creator and Imagine Dragons’ frontman Dan Reynolds formally announced the lineup for the 2019 incarnations of the annual event.

Joining Kesha, Tegan & Sara, and Martin Garrix on the lineup for the third annual festival are PVRIS, Grouplove, Daya, K. Flay, Laura Jane Grace of Against Me!, and Reynolds. According to a press statement, additional performers and speakers will be announced at a later date.

“I’m truly honored and humbled to be headlining LoveLoud this year,” Kesha said in a statement.

“I stand with my talented friend Dan Reynolds and Imagine Dragons in this fight for equality. We need to make sure that all LGBTQ+ people feel accepted and supported and that families have the support that they need. It’s important to try to keep families together and having positive, open-minded conversations and, for me, to be a part of something that can continue building the bridge to create a safe space for everyone sounds like a beautiful opportunity. A place that supports all people and all love.”

Reynolds founded the LoveLoud Foundation and its companion festival in 2017 as a way to raise money and awareness for organizations that benefit the LGBTQ+ community, particularly those focused on mental health and suicide prevention.

As with the past incarnations of the festival, this year they aim to raise more than $1,000,000 which will be donated to a slew of LGBTQ+ organizations including The Trevor ProjectGLAAD, the Human Rights CampaignTegan and Sara Foundation, and Encircle. Last year, the festival surpassed its goal.

LoveLoud Festival will take place on June 29 at the USANA Amphitheatre in West Valley City, Utah. The date for the one-day event also has a special meaning; it’s the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots.

On June 28, 1969, New York City police raided the Stonewall Inn, a gay club in Greenwich Village, and roughly hauled employees and patrons out of the bar. The next day, angry patrons and neighborhood residents took to the streets to protest the treatment which led to violent clashes between the protesters and law enforcement.

For those who will not be able to make it in person, the entire event will be live-streamed on AT&T’s social media channels.

Tickets go on sale this Friday, March 15, at 10 a.m. MST. For returning LoveLoud Festival attendees, an exclusive pre-sale is currently happening here.

Panic! at the Disco, P!nk, Kelly Clarkson to lead ‘The Greatest Showman’ covers album

The soundtrack to The Greatest Showman is one of the bestselling albums of the last year, so what better way to celebrate its momentous success than to release an album full of covers all done by some of music’s biggest stars. On Tuesday (Oct. 9), Atlantic Records announced plans to release a “reimagined” version of the RIAA 2x platinum-certified soundtrack. Panic! at the Disco, P!nk, Kelly Clarkson, and Sara Bareilles are just some of the artists who have been tapped to cover the film’s songs.

The Greatest Showman – Reimagined will arrive on Nov. 16 through Atlantic Records. The reimagined version of the album was produced by the soundtrack’s songwriters Grammy, Tony, and Academy Award-winning duo Benj Pasek & Justin Paul.

The Greatest Showman‘s soundtrack is the first album of 2018 to sell one million copies in the United States and the seventh in Billboard history to spend 31 non-consecutive weeks on the Billboard 200’s top ten. Kesha and Macklemore to embark on ‘The Adventures of Kesha and Macklemore’ tour in 2018

As the winter blues are starting to kick in, Kesha and Macklemore are getting ready to bring the heat during the summer months of the new year. On Monday (Dec. 11), the two musicians announced plans to hit the road during the summer months of 2018. The 30-date tour which has been named “The Adventure of Kesha and Macklemore” tour will kick off on June 6 at the Ak-Chin in Phoenix. After touring around the United States and Canada, the excursion will wrap up two months later on Aug. 5 at the MIDFLORIDA Credit Union Amphitheatre in Tampa.

“The Adventures of Kesha and Macklemore” tour will be in support of both musicians’ new albums. Earlier this year, Kesha released her highly anticipated album, Rainbow, which has now earned her two Grammy nominations (Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Pop Solo Performance). As for Macklemore, the rapper released his new album Gemini back in September. The new album marks Macklemore’s first solo album in 12 years. Typically, the rapper’s records feature his frequent collaborator, Ryan Lewis.

Though at first glimpse the partnering between Macklemore and Kesha for a two-month tour may seem a little odd, it’s interesting to point out how both collaborated on the track “Good Old Days” which is featured on Macklemore’s album.

Tickets for the 30-stop tour will go on sale beginning this Friday, Dec. 15 at noon local time. For those who are Citi card members, pre-sales will begin on Wednesday, Dec. 13 at noon local time and wrap up on Thursday, Dec. 14, at 10 p.m. local time.

As if a huge summer party wasn’t enough, proceeds from the ticket sales will reportedly be donated to the two different organizations.

“$1 from every ticket sold will be donated on ‘The Adventures of Kesha and Macklemore’ tour,” Live Nation said in a press release. “Kesha will donate her proceeds to RAINN (Rape, Abuse, & Incest National Network), the largest anti-sexual assault organization in the US. Macklemore will donate his proceeds to M Plus1, an organization that advances racial and social justice through the M&RL Equity Fund.”

Watch Kesha get emotional in ‘Rainbow’

With Kesha’s “come back” album officially out, the singer has decided to give her longtime and dedicated “Animals” a little something extra on this record release day. On Friday (Aug. 11), the pop star unleashed the music video for her new album’s title track, “Rainbow.” Though the song is an emotional one, it’s understandable why the songstress decided to make a simple video to accompany the new tune.

The over-four-minute video begins with a quick shot of the sign where “Rainbow” was record (Capitol Studios in Los Angeles). The shot changes to the inside of the studio where a slew of studio musicians are preparing for their day as Kesha walks in. The pop star is seen greeting her soon-to-be co-workers before the footage changes to her walking the musicians through the harmonies of the song. About 35 seconds into the clip, the footage shifts to Kesha, alone in a sound booth, recording “Rainbow.” Watch the simple, but emotion-filled clip for the new song above.

“Rainbow” will join previously released tracks “Learn to Let Go,” “Woman,” and lead single “Praying” on Kesha’s recently released third album, Rainbow. In support of the new album, Kesha recently announced a massive North American tour set to take place during the fall months. The “Rainbow” tour will officially kick off on Sept. 26 at the Iron City in Birmingham, Alabama and wrap up a little over a month later on Nov. 1 at Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles. Tickets for the tour are currently available on Kesha’s website here while the complete list of tour dates can been seen here.

In a caption accompanying the tour announcement, Kesha took the time to admit that she wouldn’t have made it through the tough times without her “animals”(her fans). “ANIMALS! I’m going on tour! I would not have made it to this point without you, so come out and join the celebration with me.”

The “Rainbow” will be in support of Kesha’s upcoming new album, Rainbow. Rainbow is set to hit stores on Aug. 11. The record, her third, is not only her first new album in five years, it’s also her first record  since becoming involved in an ongoing legal battle again former collaborator Dr. Luke.

Kesha vs Dr. Luke: Round 2

drlukekesha

In a matter of hours, it looks like the legal battle between Kesha and her longtime producer, Dr. Luke, has heated up.

Now, in response to Kesha’s (real name Kesha Rose Sebert) lawsuit which accuses the producer of abusing the signer, the producer has fired back, filing his own lawsuit against Kesha, her mother Pebe, and Kesha’s management, Vector Management.

In the complaint filed at the New York Supreme Court, the producer, real name Lukasz Gottwald, claims that the original lawsuit stems from a denial to amend Kesha’s longstanding record deal. The agreement with Gottwald states that Kesha was contracted for “at least six recordings.” From her record earnings, Gottwald would then receive a “specific” percentage of the sales from the albums he produced.

Gottwald then claimed that there was an amendment done to the contract previously, but that it might have not been what Kesha desired.

“As part of the effort to get out of the Gottwald Recording Agreement, Kesha and Pebe have also orchestrated a campaign of publishing false and shocking accusations against Gottwald to extort Plaintiffs into letting Kesha out of the Gottwald Recording Agreement” the complaint states.

As stated before, the counter-sue may not take aim directly at the legal papers filed by Kesha on Monday, but rather the steps that led to the the actual filing. Allegedly, Kesha’s mother, Pebe, wrote a letter last October that claimed abuse and threatened to send it to a blogger for publication.

Though Gottwald’s claim does not go into specifics about what it was, it does say that Kesha and her mother published statements about abuse that they admitted, themselves, were false.

Gottwald is now suing for defamation and breach of contract against Kesha and her mother. As for Vector Management, who were hired by the signer in 2013, he claims they are trying to get a bigger share of her record profits.

“It’s despicable thing of  what he is doing,” Kesha’s attorney, Mark Geragos responded.

“It reminds me of Ray Rice threatening to sue his wife for ruining his career. [Dr. Luke] thinks that he has got more money than he knows what to do, he can do whatever he wants. Our complaint is accurate and supported by evidence and witnesses.”

Both the singer and the producer agree that this all began in 2005 when he signed her, but after that everything differs. Kesha claims that it began a one-sided relationship which resulted in abuse, rape, and manipulation. The producer, on the other hand, claims that he took a nobody and made her a platinum-selling somebody.

Kesha Files Abuse Lawsuit Against Longtime Producer

kesha

It’s going down and it looks like Dr. Luke will be the one yelling timber.

Months after leaving a rehabilitation center for an eating disorder, Kesha (real name Kesha Rose Sebert) has filed a lawsuit against longtime producer, Dr. Luke (real name Lukasz Gottwald) and according to recently filed documents, it appears that there was no harmony between the two.

The Rising Star judge is claiming that over the course of ten years, the super-producer was abusive to her, physically, mentally and emotionally.

In the lawsuit documents, obtained by TMZ, Kesha alleges that Dr. Luke began abusing her after signing to his record label, Kemosabe, when she was 18 years old. From there, she says that she was forced to use drugs and alcohol while experiencing several sexual advances from him.

In the documents, Kesha chronicles several times that she has been abuse by Dr. Luke was also asking the judge to let her out of her contract with him.

Several examples of abuse includes one time in which the singer says she was “made to snort something” before getting on a plane. Later on, Dr. Luke forced himself on her. There was an other instance reported that the producer slipped her some “sober pills” and when she woke, she was in his bed with no recollection of how she got there.

“This lawsuit is a wholehearted effort by Kesha to regain control of her music career and her personal freedom after suffering for 10 years as a victim of mental manipulation, emotional abuse and an instance of sexual assault at the hands of Dr. Luke,” Kesha’s lawyer, Mark Geragos, told TMZ.

“The facts presented in our lawsuit paint a picture of a man who is controlling and willing to commit horrible acts of abuse in an attempt to intimidate an impressionable, talented, young female artist into submission for his personal gain. Kesha is focused on moving her life and her career beyond this terrible time.”

During the pop star’s stint in rehab, it was revealed that part of the reason she had checked herself in had to do with Dr. Luke and all the insults about her looks and her weight. In one instance, Kesha says the producer called her a “fucking refrigerator” and urged her to lose a lot of weight while during some tour downtime.

At the time, Dr. Luke had said that the claims were “completely false.”

This isn’t the first time some problems had been brewing between the two. Last October, fans of the “Warrior” has started a petition for her to be let out of her contract saying that the producer was forcing her to sing “recycled” crap.

‘Rising Star’ Announce Their Judges, Host

image

ABC is trying to get in on the singing reality television business with their new show, Rising Star. The commercials, which have been airing during their primetime shows’ season finales doesn’t give much except the fact that it’s a singing show, kind of in the vein of The Voice, but more “interactive.”

Today, more information has been given about the show including who the host and judges are going to be. Kesha, Brad Paisley and Ludacris have been tapped to appear as judges on the show while Josh Groban will take on the role as the summer competition program’s host. Like many musical artists before them, this is their first venture into the show world like this. Brad Paisley has played host at the CMA’s with Carrie Underwood several times while Ludacris has acted and will host this weekend’s Billboard Music Awards.

Kesha had her own “unscripted” MTV show, Kesha: My Beautiful Crazy Life which is as far as she’s gone, while Josh Groban almost beat out Michael Strahan for Regis Philbin’s vacant seat on Live! thanks in part to his many guest co-hosting gigs on the show.

Rising Star is based off a popular Israeli show with a similar set up. This will be ABC’s second attempt at this kind of show; their first attempt was 2012’s Duets which was a dud from the get-go.
