Watch Charlie Puth and Kehlani resurrect the 80s for ‘Done for Me’

With less than a month until the release of his sophomore album, Charlie Puth has returned with the official music video for his latest single. On Monday (April 23), the New York-based musician unleashed his music video for “Done for Me” featuring R&B songstress Kehlani. The almost-three-minute clip begins with Puth, sitting alone in a dark room. As the song begins, the room lights up, revealing an 80s-tastic bedroom with Puth dressed like an extra from Miami Vice.

As the music video continues, the viewer watches as the scenery repeatedly changes between the bedroom from the beginning of the clip, a room of mirrors, a nightclub, and other locations. Throughout the first half of the video, we watch Puth try to get the attention of two female dancers, but fails in his attempts. Unlike Puth, who ends up going home alone at the end of the video, Kehlani is not only able to obtain the dancers’ attention, she also manages to take them home.

In a press statement, the music video is described as “a sultry homage to analog videos of the early 80s” which is quite evident in the presentation of the clip. Watch the RJ Sanchez and Brendan Vaughan-directed music video above.

“Done for Me” will join Puth’s previously released tracks “Attention” and “How Long” as well as “If You Leave Me Now, ” his Boyz II Men collaboration, on his soon-to-be released new album. Voicenotes will be released on May 11 through Atlantic Records. Pre-orders for the album can be found here.

Voicenotes is the follow-up to Puth’s 2016 RIAA-certified platinum debut, Nine Track Mind.
