Taste of Chaos Tour Resurrected

Ladies and gentle-dudes who grew up in the mid-00s, Taste of Chaos is back!

For anyone who grew up during the era of “emo bands,” Taste of Chaos, the sister traveling festival to Warped Tour, was definitely something you wanted to go to. Unlike Warped Tour, TOC concentrated on heavier bands like Avenged Sevenfold, Bullet For My Valentine, Atreyu, and many more.

In 2010, fans of the festival were given the saddening news that it would no longer exist, at least in the United States.

Fast forward five years, and now it has been resurrected from the festival funeral home.

Founder Kevin Lyman had been hinting at a resurrection over the past few weeks, but did not confirm whether the festival would return or if he was just being a troll.

Surprise, it’s back, but with some changes.

Instead of traveling across the country like it had done in the past, Taste of Chaos will stay stationed at the San Manuel Amphitheater Festival Grounds in San Bernardino, CA.

But if its return is not enough to get those dark hearts of yours beating, then the newly announced line-up will do the trick.

Newly reunited Thrice, Jimmy Eat World, The Used, Saves the Day, The All-American Rejects, Dashboard Confessional and more are all slated to hit the stage on Oct. 3.

While the line-up may not be completely heavy, like the past incarnations, it’s nice to see that some veteran TOC bands (Thrice, The Used, Story of the Year) will be featured on the line-up.

Check out the complete line-up below.

Jimmy Eat World
The Used
Dashboard Confessional
The All-American Rejects
Saves The Day
The Movielife
Story Of The Year
Mark Hoppus (DJ set)
Greek Fire

Tickets for Taste of Chaos are scheduled to go on sale beginning Monday (June 22) on their official website which has yet to formally launch. Tickets start at $25 and for those are into camping, the festival will be offering accommodations for that.

A few days after revealing he would be performing a couple of solo shows in June, Jimmy Eat World frontman, Jim Adkins, has revealed that those three shows are just the beginning of his Summer and Fall solo trek.

The singer had previously revealed that he had been working on some solo material during Jimmy Eat World’s downtime, but now it looks like he’s ready to take the solo act on the road.

In a letter to fans which he released earlier in the day, Adkins reveals that after 21 years of following the same cycle with JEW (“write, tour, record, tour, pull our heads together, and then write again”) he had gotten bored and was ready for something new and exciting (no, they are not going on hiatus).

Thanks to a chance opportunity in Berlin while JEW was on tour in Europe, Adkins decided to go on his own and perform a solo show. He found the opportunity to play solo to be “pretty different” and “fun” and decided to extend that further with a tour and like he writes, “2015 seemed like as good as any.”

Adkins reveals that the tour will be just him and a guitar traveling around the country this Summer and Fall. As of now, he hasn’t released any specific tour stop, except for the three tour dates he had previously released earlier this week (June 21: The Haunt – Ithaca, NY; June 22: BSP Kingston – Kingston, NY; June 23: The Space – Hamden, CT).

Craig Aaronson (A&R for Jimmy Eat World, My Chemical Romance, and More) Passed Away

Normally, hearing that someone from a record label passed away doesn’t really make headlines, but sometimes that person played a key role in discovering some of your favorite bands. In news that feels like a dagger to the heart, the A&R guy responsible for discovering many of the bands that helped shape our music taste and love of music, passed away.

According to several music publications including Billboard and Alternative Press, Craig Aaronson famed A&R guy from Warner Bros., passed away after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Many artists, including those that he played a key role in discovering, have already taken to Twitter to express their condolences. Here are just some of the ones that we have found on our Twitter feed with more coming as the day progresses.

It's with great sadness in our hearts that we write this message to you all. An integral part of our A7X family has passed away. Craig Aaronson was one of the driving forces behind our decision to sign with Warner Brothers Records back in 2004 along with Tom Whalley and Andy Olyphant. We had heard horror stories about independent bands signing with major labels so when we first met Craig we were skeptical. We ended up trusting him and Warner Brothers Records and in the end we are glad that we did. Craig had not only been a personal friend to us through the years, but also helped spearhead many of the bands successes, including allowing us to have complete creative control throughout all of our albums. No matter what we handed into the label he would get behind it and go to work. Our manager Larry Jacobson has always said working with Craig was like working with a partner, always agreeable even when you disagreed, and because of that, A7X and WBR got so many good things done together. A couple of years ago Craig left Warner Brothers to do other things, we were saddened by his decision but realized he needed to move on. A few months later we were informed that Craig had been diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. While on chemo Craig still made it out to our Hail to the King album release show in Los Angeles earlier this year. We were all blown away by his dedication and will to live. Sadly, yesterday he lost the battle against cancer. He is survived by an amazing wife and kids. We will always be grateful to Craig and everything he has done for us. He has done the same for many other countless bands and without a doubt will be sorely missed. Thank you for everything Craig. Love A7X P.S. Life is too short, spend some extra time with the ones you love today.

Aaronson was most well-know for bringing bands such as My Chemical Romance, The Used, Jimmy Eat World, Taking Back Sunday, Avenged Sevenfold, Against Me! and more to the label and helping them reach success.

If anyone needs an example of Aaronson’s enthusiasm for the bands he helped discover and love of his job, the perfect example can be found on MCR’s first DVD, Life on the Murder Scene where we see Aaronson listening to some new tracks the band were working on at the time and how passionately excited he got while listening to them.

Aaronson kicked off his lengthy resume of successful bands by signing Jimmy Eat World back in 1995 to Capitol before leaving and getting his job at Warner Bros. Jimmy Eat World recently wrote about that and how when they had no money, Aaronson had let them sleep in his house.

All we can say is thank you very much for discovering those bands and we owe you a lot, Craig. You had a role in helping shape who we are today.

Awful News: Two Men Arrested for Assaulting Woman at Reading and Leeds

What should be one of the most enjoyable weekends across the pond has turned into an awful one for one attendants.

The Guardian is reporting that two people were arrested during yesterday’s installation of Reading and Leeds and not for some petty crime charge like theft or drugs, but for something a lot more serious.

According to British press, a 14-year-old boy from Surrey and a 31-year-old man from London have been arrested on suspicion of raping a young woman and are currently being held by Thames Valley police.

The victim, a 19-year-old woman, reported being attacked Thursday night “in a caravan on the festival trader’s site.” The woman, said she had met the man and the boy earlier in the day near an ice-cream van near a mobile phone charging station in one of the campsite.

But for those attending this year’s event and are a little concerned about things like this being a norm, don’t worry because it appears that the police have things under control, according to Chief Inspector Dave Parker, who spoke directly with The Guardian about this possibly occurring again.

“There is currently a scene watch in place and I would like to reassure those attending the festival that crime levels remain low and crimes of this nature are very rare. Officers are patrolling the site to support on-site security and if anyone has any concerns, please feel free to approach our officers to discuss this.”

On the upside, there have only been 21 (reported) crimes committed since Wednesday; five alleged drug offenses and 13 suspected thefts.

This year’s line up of Reading and Leeds has quite roster with blink-182, Paramore, The Arctic Monkeys, Jimmy Eat World, Queens of the Stone Age, Imagine Dragons, You Me at Six and many (many, many) more.

Jimmy Eat World Cover Taylor Swift

Jimmy Eat World covered a version of Rihanna’s “Only Girl in the World” a month or so back while visiting the office of mega music magazine, NME. Now we have gotten video of  the band covering a very unlikely song (or is it likely?) Taylor Swift’s “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.”

The band have been playing the radio hit during their current Summer tour and now fans can see a portion of their take on it here:

Jimmy Eat World recently released their new album, Damage which debuted at number 14 on the Billboard 200.
