Beyoncé and Jay-Z to Go “On the Run”

tour

Remember that Jay-Z and Beyoncé tour rumor we were on the fence about a few months ago? Well, maybe we should have listened for once because the tour has now been confirmed to be real. Looks like fans of the power couple will need to cancel their upcoming Summer plans because the Carters are taking over.

A few weeks ago, rumors began about this massive tour, but the only thing confirmed was plans to have Jay-Z’s “Made in America” Festival have a version of it take place in Los Angeles. Now, the power duo will be taking the act on the road. The “On the Run” joint tour is fitting named after, we hope, their “Bonnie and Clyde ’03” track.

The 16-date tour will begin in Miami at Sun Life Stadium on June 25 and hit up cities such as Philadelphia,  Chicago, Atlanta,  San Francisco and several more.

Good news for Beyoncé’s fan club, The Beyhive; they get first dibs on tickets beginning their pre-sales at 8 a.m. tomorrow.

Jay-Z’s Made in America Festival to Hit Los Angeles

madeinamerica

Rumors of Jay-Z and Beyoncé going out on tour might have been a little pre-meditated, but there is good news coming from Jay-Z’s team; his Budweiser Made in America Festival will once again be coming back, but this time it will be happening on two different coasts.

Today, HOV held a press conference in which he announced the plans to bring back the two-day festival, but unlike last year, the show will be held in two cities. One of the locations will be thee same place it was held last year, Philadelphia, while it was announced that the new location will be downtown Los Angeles.

The music mogul, along with the city’s mayor made the announcement today at City Hall that the festival in Los Angeles would run simultaneously with the one in Philadelphia which will take place during Labor Day weekend. According to reports, about 50,000 concertgoers are estimated to attend the downtown show. At the time of the announcement, no performers had been revealed,

Maybe this is where the Jay-Z Beyoncé rumor might have stemmed from. Early bird tickets for both events are currently on sale while the line-up will be revealed sometime soon.

The only concern the Los Angeles City Council is concern about is that the two-day festival, and the concertgoers, would be disruptive to the downtown residents.

It’s Los Angeles guys and you aren’t the only city to deal with concerts disturbing residents.

The 2014 Oscars’ Best Original Song (Not So) Short List

AcademyAwards

Seventy-five.

Seventy-five is the amount of songs that have been nominated for the 2014 Academy Awards Best Original Song short list.

Songs that made the long list, which ironically is called the short list comes from several different film with, of course, different music styles, but with a killer soundtrack, nonetheless.

One of the songs to make the list is one that could be attributed to some foreshadowing. About a year ago, Paul McCartney said that there might be a Nirvana reunion with him taking the place of the late Kurt Cobain. That is exactly what happened during the 12-12-12: The Concert for Sandy Relief, when the former Beatle was back by Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic, and honorary Nirvana member Pat Smear.

The song that they performed at the time “Cut Me Some Slack,” was just a treat, but it later turned out to be for Grohl’s Sound City: Real to Reel documentary film soundtrack.

Also making the not-so-short short list are many of the songs that were also nominated for the same award at the Golden globes. Those include Taylor Swift’s One Chance contribution, “Sweeter Than Fiction,” U2’s “Ordinary Love” which was featured on the Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom soundtrack and Coldplay’s “Atlas” from The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

Instead of going into detail about every song on the list, check them all out below, and believe us, it’s a pretty long list, so get your patience on.

The 86th Annual Academy Awards are scheduled for March 2.

Beyoncé Nearly Breaks the Internet with Secret Release

bey

So yes, Beyoncé did what most artist wish the could do; release a new album under everyone’s nose with out them even getting the feeling it was coming. Talk about being one sneaky bugger.

Just before midnight on Friday night, Beyoncé did what could be one of the coolest and unexpected things of 2013; she released her fifth, self-titled album on iTunes. At the moment, information is still coming in as to who was the production team behind the surprise album, but some guests on the album have already been confirmed as Jay Z, Drake, Frank Ocean and of course, her daughter, Blue Ivy.

Beyoncé, is the singer’s first new album since 2011’s 4 or like some like to point out, her first new album since giving birth to Blue Ivy. The album consists of 14-brand new song including “Drunk In Love” a new collaboration with husband Jay Z,”Mine” featuring Drake and a song written about Blue Ivy titled “Blue.”

Every song on the album has also been given a video, all of which are currently available on iTunes. Funny enough, the video that was a hint that new music was on the way, “Grown Woman” has been cut from the track list of the album, but the video is featured as a bonus. Also missing in action is the Sia-penned song, “Standing on the Sun” which was featured on her H&M ads.

But the hints keep dropping that the album shouldn’t have been a surprise. Back in October, Columbia chairman, Rob Stringer threw some shade by saying there were “one or two records” currently in production and that they had them “lined up that hopefully will make the beginning of December.”

Come on, that’s almost a confession right there.

iTunes is expected to have a week-long exclusive on the album, before a retail release which is so far set for Saturday, December 21, just in time for the Christmas holiday, according to sources.

Artists Protesting Florida? Not So Fast

Justin Timberlake/Jay-Z

After the George Zimmerman/Trayvon Martin ruling two weeks back, many artist have come out of the woodwork to protest the state of Florida over a reason that no one truly knows. Whether it’s the ruling (just for those that are not familiar, Zimmerman was found not guilty) or the actual “Stand Your Ground” law, artist were rumored to be protesting the state (you read right, the state, not just that particular city).

Word got around yesterday through the Huffington Post that artists such as Justin Timberlake, Jay-Z, The Rolling Stones and many more would be staying clear from Florida due to the verdict outcome. The Monday after the verdict, Stevie Wonder had come out saying that he would not be entering the state of Florida for anything as a protest. Today, it turns out, many of the representatives are coming to the defense of their performers saying that their clients had never heard of or been contacted about the list.

American Urban Radio Network’s White House correspondent April Ryan first reported the list, claiming that she had gotten the information from credible  “sources close to the Stevie Wonder camp.” The Huffington Post had said that they were at the time trying to contact the artists’ representatives even though they had posted the list. At the time, the only representative that had gotten back to them was Rihanna’s who revealed that she was not involved. MotherJones got word that The Rolling Stones had not even heard about the campaign.

When doubt started to reach an all time high, Ryan released a statement on her website where she explains that she got a ext in the middle of the night from someone who were “in support of Stevie.” Her statement could be seen below:

I obtained from multiple sources early Monday a list of artists and entertainers who my sources told me had committed to a boycott of Florida following the George Zimmerman acquittal. Since publishing that list I have heard from several representatives of the artists named who say, on behalf of their clients, they are uncomfortable being identified on that list and are seeking additional information.

Additional representatives have come out to debunk that their clients, who were on the list, were even aware that their names had been put on the list of protesters, which begs the question, if Ryan didn’t put this list together then who did?

Supposedly protests not only those mentioned above, but also

Jay-Z Reveals ‘Magna Carta’ Album Art

jay1

Call it great publicity or just a bad move, but Jay-Z has revealed the album art for his upcoming new album, Magna Carta Holy Grail and the same exact place where four of the last remaining versions of the Magna Carta are being house. You know, because he is Jay-Z and he can do whatever he wants whenever her wants.

The rapper revealed on his Life + Times page, a photo of his album art just sitting next to the Magna Carta which is currently housed at Britain’s Salisbury Cathedral. But just when you thought that it was just for some kind of publicity, came word that the album could be seen by fans m inside the cathedral until the end of July.

Viewings will take place in the Chapter House at Salisbury Cathedral from 9.30am to 4.30pm Monday-Saturday and 12.45pm to 3.45pm on Sundays.

The Dean of Salisbury, the Very Revd June Osborne released a statement saying:

“We are delighted that Jay-Z has chosen Salisbury Cathedral, home to the finest of the four surviving original copies of the Magna Carta, as the location for the global premiere of his artwork for ‘Magna Carta… Holy Grail’. We know how important Magna Carta, and all it represents, is to people across the globe. The ideals it embodies are still relevant today. Jay-Z, through his album, is creating a huge awareness of this historic document and its modern significance to a huge audience in the run up to its 800th anniversary in 2015. We hope to welcome many of his fans here this summer to see the artwork in the Chapter House alongside our Magna Carta.”

The Magna Carta Holy Grail will be released tomorrow for those who downloaded his Samsung app. The album will also feature a laundry list of guest stars such as Rick Ross, Frank Ocean, Beyoncé and Justin Timberlake.
