Scott Weiland Impostor Reportedly in Stone Temple Pilots Cover Band

wpid-scott_weiland.jpeg

As if the Scott Weiland impersonator wasn’t good enough to pass for the former Stone Temple Pilot frontman in prison, it turns out he actually played in a Stone Temple Pilots cover band.

Considering his past at portraying Weiland, it might not come as that much of a shocker that he did the same when he was busted last month for shoplifting at a pharmacy and then charged with both shoplifting and being in possession of methamphetamine.

On Facebook, Hurley had written about participating in a Stone Temple Pilots tribute show at the Roxy in Hollywood, though TMZ, who originally broke the news that the real Weiland was not arrested, noted that the band might have not quite existed yet.

Hurley was arrested back in July and last week, the “Celebrity Arrest” made headlines when the Beverly Hill Police Department revealed to TMZ that they had had Weiland in prison for four weeks.

Following the release of the TMZ story, the gossip site received a message from Weiland, himself, straight from the studio where he was working on an album with his new band, The Wildabouts; not from the inside of a jail cell.

In the video post, Weiland sets the record straight by saying that he had just read “something very interesting, a nice piece of fiction from TMZ saying that I was in jail and had been for [four] weeks.”

“I’ve actually been touring, writing and recording my new album. Yeah, this is the studio we’re in right now. So all I have to say to our fans is whether you find it funny or interesting or whether you find it sad, don’t worry, don’t fret, it’s all a lie.”

Hurley’s real identity did not come out until Weiland posted that video, in which the BHPD performed an FBI fingerprint check which revealed his true identity. Why the police did not perform the check after the initial arrest, the world will never know.

Hurley was set to appear in court today, and we are still wondering if arrest records still has him listed as Scott Klein Weiland.

Jailed Man Claimed to Be Former Stone Temple Pilots’ Frontman

image

If you ever get arrest and happen to look like celebrity, claiming to be said person might come back to bite you in the rear.

That’s exactly what happened to one guy when he claimed that he was former Stone Temple Pilots’ frontman, Scott Weiland.

Last night, TMZ reported that the Beverly Hill Police Department had had Weiland in their prison since July 26 for possession of meth. The Weiland impostor had allegedly been busted by the BHPD after shoplifting some razors from a Rite Aid and then was busted for the drugs when he was searched. The supposed frontman was then locked up, with bail set at $95,000.

The problem in the story is the fact that Weiland was never arrested. The singer had been in the studio with his new band, The Wildabouts and it took a video from the studio with Weiland present for the police department to confirm the arrested man’s correct identity.

For four weeks, the man had the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department fooled.

In his video post on Facebook, Weiland calls TMZ’s report a “nice piece of fiction” and that the gossip site “will be hearing from my attorney.”

Like they’ve never heard that before.

The issue with Weiland’s threat in the video is the simple fact that the site got the news story, and evidence, from a reliable source; the police department themselves.

When TMZ received (or saw) the video from the real Scott Weiland, the site called up the police department to break the news to them that they did not arrest who they thought they did. That led to the police department to perform a “physical check” which revealed the guy was not who he said he was.

In reality, the man who had been imprisoned for four weeks was 44-year-old Jason Michael Hurley. On top of his previous charges, Hurley will also be charged with giving false information to the officers.

As of today, Hurley is still listed as Scott Klein Weiland in the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department Inmate Information Center and is due in court on Tuesday, August 26.

SXSW Release Statement About Early Morning Crash

SXSW-2014

By now, many media outlets have already reported about the tragedy that took place early this morning at Austin’s South By Southwest Festival. The police department and many artists have taken to the internet to speak out about the tragedy that occurred.

Just a short while ago, organizers behind the annual event released their own statement on behalf of themselves and all the staff about what happened. The statement, though short also revealed that one of the victims was identified as Steven Craenmehr, MassiveMusic’s Amsterdam-based creative director and that all events will still be going as scheduled unless they are told otherwise.

“The SXSW staff is stunned and deeply moved by the events of last night.

Dozens of us were on the scene when the incident occurred and we worked closely with APD to create a perimeter around the area, turning back all the visitors spilling out of the clubs who headed north on Red River Street.

To avoid confusion we plan to carry on with our scheduled daytime events at the Austin Convention Center in order to serve our tens of thousands of participants during this tragic time.

All of the SXSW staff and volunteers reported for their regular duties this morning and will continue working today on the event.

We are contacting all of the venues to find out if they have made any decisions about their operations that might impact our visitors.

Despite all of our preparations for dealing with a major incident during SXSW, nothing could really prepare us for how this feels. As much as we would like to just go home and spend time absorbing the shock of this horrific event, we feel our best use is to continue to operate today.

One of the fatalities was a SXSW registrant, a gentleman from the Netherlands.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the injured and with the families of the fatalities.”

The Mohawk, the venue where the crash occurred in front of, has revealed they will be cancelling all afternoon events while events for this evening are still pending.

Ian Watkins Tries to Apply for Appeal of Sentence

IanWatkinsCourtPA261113

If you though being a pedophile made you looks like a major scum bucket of the Earth, having the balls to apply for an appeal makes you the scum bucket of the universe.

Last month, former Lostprophets singer, Ian Watkins had been given a 29-year sentence plus six more years after pleading guilty to 13 counts of sex offense including the attempted rape of a baby.

According to the BBC, the Court of Appeal confirmed that the application to appeal his sentence was lodged in two days ago.

While the case was going on, Watkins admitted that he had conspired to rape a child, as well as three counts of sexual assault involving children, seven counts involving taking, making or possessing indecent images of children, and one of possessing an extreme pornographic image involving a sex act on an animal which even the judge was sickened by.

At first, Watkins had pleaded not guilty to all accusations, but when hard evidence arose from his storage cloud, it was inevitable. He did, though, plead not guilty to the rape.

The former singer was sent to jail as well as two women who turned out to be the mothers of the children that he had abused.

But it looks unlikely that Watkins will see the light of day anytime soon. When a judge tells you that you are better in jail because you are a “significant risk” to children, that is a sure-fire way to get stuck behind bars, for your full term.

Even if by some slim chance the appeal is looked at, Watkins is still being investigated by the South Wales Police on whether he had committed the same atrocious acts in Germany and the United States. The Independent Police Complaints Commission has also confirmed it is investigating three police forces over the case.

Lauryn Hill Sentenced to Three Months for Tax Evasion

LH

Fugees singer, Lauryn Hill has been sentenced to three months in a federal prison followed by another three months of house arrest for failing to pay taxes on an estimated $1 million in earnings.

The Associated Press say that Hill delivered a strongly worded statement today, where she explains that she meant to one day pay back all the taxes that she owed, but had a hard time doing so after she withdrew from the music industry.

“I needed to be able to earn so I could pay my taxes, without compromising the health and welfare of my children, and I was being denied that,” Hill told the judge.

“I was put into a system I didn’t know the nature of,” Hill continued. “I’m a child of former slaves. I got into an economic paradigm and had that imposed on me. […] I sold 50 million units. […] Now I’m up here paying a tax debt. If that’s not likened to slavery, I don’t know what is.”

A few weeks back, Assistant U.S. Attorney Sandra Moser, called Hill’s bluff when she claimed in court that Hill had signed a deal with Sony Music which would result in a pay-day of $1 million for five new songs. Hill countered Moser’s claim saying that the  pay-day was “inaccurate” while the deal was real.

Robert Todd Harrell, bassist for 3 Doors Down has been charged with vehicular manslaughter after being involved in an accident that caused the death of another person.

A police statement released said that Harrell had been driving at a high rate of speed in a Nashville suburb when he clipped a pick-up truck driven by the victim,  47-year-old Paul Howard Shoulders Jr. The pickup then went out of control, struck a guardrail, went down an embankment and overturned. At the time, Shoulders was not wearing his seat belt which resulted in him being ejected from the truck.

Harrell’s car hit a retaining wall and stopped about a quarter-mile away from the crash site. When police arrived on the scene, they noted that he showed signs of impairment when he underwent field sobriety tasks and even acknowledged that he had consumed hard cider and had taken prescription Lortab and Xanax.

Once taken into jail, he was also charged with bringing controlled substances into the jail when it was discovered that he had a plastic bag concealed in his sock with eight Xanax pills, 24 Oxycodone pills and four Oxymorphone pills during a search at the booking room.

While Harrell is still holed up in the Nashville jail despite a $100,000 bond, his band released the following statement on their website: ““We are deeply saddened by the passing of Paul Howard Shoulders, Jr. Our hearts and prayers go out to his family and friends at this difficult time.”

The Gossip’s Beth Ditto, Arrested

Beth Ditto

The Gossip’s lead singer, Beth Ditto was arrested early Tuesday morning in Portland after she allegedly got super wasted, walked into the middle of the street, blocked traffic and started to yell.

Portland PD were called to the scene and found Ditto, real name Mary Beth Patterson, “standing in the middle of the street with her arms extended from her sides like an airplane” according to Portland PD spokesman, Sgt. Pete Simpson.

A source told the Willamette Week, a bartender at the Bungalo Bar cut the singer off because she was completely drunk. Not feeling the fact that she was cut off, Ditto went outside, threw her shoes and purse and started to shout, “Obama! Obama!”

She was taken into custody after ignoring requests by officers who were trying to bring the singer off the street where she was blocking four cars. That’s where all the nuttiness ends because she was taken into custody without any incident and was booked on one count of disorderly conduct at nearby Multnomah County jail.

But all is good, she was released a short time later. Now she can continue her one man (woman?) cheer party for the president.

2 Chainz Arrested for Pot Possession

2Chainz and Cops

Rapper 2 Chainz was arrested last night for  Marijuana possession the van he was in was pulled over. the rapper and his entourage were on their was to a school when the vehicle they were in was caught going 79 in a 50 miles-per-hour zone. When the Maryland State Police pulled over the vehicle, there was an odor of weed and with probable cause, were able to search the vehicle. Inside, they found a backpack that had a grinder, a device used to grind marijuana so that it could be smoked, with remnants of weed in it.

The only person in the group to be arrested was 2Chainz and lets just say that he wasn’t too happy to be in that position. After being booked and released, the rapper went onto his Twitter to inform fans about what had just happened and what he thought about the incident. The interesting part about the story was the photo that was taken with two of the police officers(seen above). When the Maryland State Police was asked about who initiated the photo, 2Chainz or one of their officers, the spokesperson simply said: “We cannot confirm who initiated that at this time.”

J.Lo Saves Adele from Crazy Fan

JLo and the Crasher

This might be the reason why Adele referred to Jennifer Lopez as her good luck charm. While J.Lo and co-presenter, Pitbull presented Adele with her award for “Best Solo Pop Performance,” a crazy fan by the name of Vitalii Seduik, somehow managed to sneak through all the security to the stage and crash her winning moment. In the video, he can clearly be heard saying, “It’s such an honor to receive this award” and “I love you Adele!”.

You can check out J.Lo giving Seduik the boot with a slight motion of her thumb and then look towards the back of the stage making sure that he made his grand exit out.

For those of you who might not be familiar with Seduki, he was the Ukrainian reporter that tried to make out with Will Smith during his Men in Black III promotions tour. He was also the one who sent Madonna hydrangeas which, by the way the entertainer despises.

Seduki, Sacha Baron Cohen called, he wants his Borat act back.
