Kings of Leon to Postpone Several Tour Dates Due to Injury

Over the weekend, Kings of Leon suffered a mishap that resulted in drummer Nathan Followill breaking several ribs and the band having to postpone several of their upcoming tour dates.

While en route to their hotel following their show in Boston, when a pedestrian jumped in front of their tour bus, causing the over-sized vehicle to stop short resulting in Followill being injured. At the time, he had said he was just “banged up,” but it turned out he had a broken rib.

At the time, the band had just said that the would be postponing their Saratoga Spring, NY show, this past Sunday (August 10) and any show until “further notice”

Today, KOL have confirmed that they have nixed all tour dates for the next two weeks to allow Followill to heal, per doctor’s orders. At this rate, the band’s next show will take place on august 28 at the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, NJ.

Of course, it sounds like Followill is getting some kind of cabin fever already and is eager to return to his drum kit. “I’m, counting down the days until I can get back in the saddle and continue what has been out best American tour so far.”

But, the band will appear on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon where resident band leader Questlove will take over the drum kit for the group during their song “Family Tree.”

The band’s current tour, the Mechanical Bull tour is in support of their 2013 album by the same name. This tour marked the return of the band after their scrapped a full tour due to internal band issues among the members of the group.

Miss May I Fan Dies After Show

Miss May I might be finishing up their current small venue tour in support of their new album, Rise of the Lion, but sadly, this weekend something happened to one of their fans during the show. Alberto Scott, a 21-year-old fan of the metalcore band collapsed outside of The Studio at Webster Hall in New York this past Saturday.

Originally, it was reported that he had hit his head on the floor when he staged dived from the stage into the audience. Many venues, due to this consequence, have become aware of it and began to enforce a zero tolerance for stage diving (posted signs and security at the foot of the stage have been added to several venues).

The BrooklynVegan was the first to report about the incident, getting first hand accounts on what happened, with bystanders even claiming that he had not hit his head and collapsed like it had been assumed, but rather it all happened outside the venue.

Webster Hall did post on Facebook that “the patron in question did not die while stage diving. The patron collapsed while exiting the venue, as video footage and the police corroborate.”

At the moment, neither the venue or the band have released a full-length statement about the event. Last night, Miss May I did post a letter to fans, promising to release a full statement about Scott’s death, soon.

The band wrote: “Hey everyone, we are aware of the incident that occurred at Webster Hall last night and will be posting a statement shortly. However, we are awaiting further information regarding the situation before we are able to make a full statement.”

According to many of Scott’s friend who quickly went online to post their condolences and sentiments about his passing, revealed that he lived and breathed music and even had posted a picture of him with Miss May I vocalist, Levi Benton.

He is survived by his sister who lives in Florida.

Silverstein Guitarist Hospitalized

We haven’t heard much from Silverstein in a while, but last night, the band released a statement to fans that one of them was sick. Guitarist, Paul Marc had been admitted into the hospital at their Cornwall, Ontario stop of their current tour.

In the statement, singer Shane Todd revealed that Marc had started to feel some pain before their show in Sherbrooke and decided it would be wise to stop at a hospital to have him check out. It was a good thing that they did so because Marc had to have emergency abdominal surgery.

As of now, all upcoming tour dates ave been reschedule and hopefully will be able to hit the road again sometime next weekend. The full statement from Todd, on behalf of the other members, can be read below.

“Hi everyone, we have some bad news. Paul Marc is in a hospital in Cornwall, ON after having to have emergency abdominal surgery last night. He started feeling severe pain right before our show in Sherbrooke and it got so bad we had to stop at a hospital on the way back to Toronto. Right now our shows in Windsor, Kitchener and Hamilton are being rescheduled. Paul Marc got through the surgery okay, and hopefully he is recovered for the shows the next weekend in Etobicoke and Scarborough. Please feel free to send him well wishes through his twitter @paulmarc or Instagram @paulmarcsees . We’ll let you know when we have new dates for the makeup shows. Thanks for your understanding.

Fan Gets Broken Nose During Pearl Jam/Arcade Fire Game

arcadefire

What happens when two of the world’s biggest band come together for a pick-up basketball game? Apparently, someone comes out losing with a broken nose.

During this weekend’s Auckland installment of the Big Day Out Festival, Pearl Jam fan Sherif Hassan revealed that during a particularly aggressive game of pick-up basketball, he suffered a broken nose. According to him, it was the last play of the game which included Arcade Fire’s Win Butler and Pearl Jam’s Jeff Ament.

In an interview with Triple J radio, Hassan explained what happened during that game.

“[Jeff Ament’s] aggressive, I’ll tell you that much. He broke my nose.” He added “it was actually the last play of the game. All I heard was Win [Butler] going off about how the rules are rubbish down here, and throwing balls around and chucking a bit of a hissy fit.”

But it looks like the broken nose might have been just fine for Hassan who got an impressive consolation prize thanks to his injury. He got to go backstage at the festival and meet Lorde, Major Lazer, Mac Miller and even got a shout out from Eddie Vedder.

But then again, Butler has a rough history with basketball and that should have been warning enough.

Acoustic Basement Head Shocked at Warped Tour

It’s been known to rain and pour during Warped Tour in selected cities, but yesterday afternoon, the long running music festival met unexpected weather conditions when they arrived in West Palm Beach, Florida which resulted in not only a temporary cancellation for several hours, but also the venue lost electricity.

The worst part of the day was that the man behind the recently popular Acoustic Basement as well as Therefore I Am, Brian Marquis, was injured during the torrential storm that struck the festival. It was unclear whether he had been electrocuted or if he was struck by lightning at that time.

Earlier today, Marquis released a short message where he reveals that he is fine after what occurred at yesterday’s Warped Tour stop as well as picture of him in what looks to be a hospital.

“I am alive and relatively okay. I fought a little lightning and won. Thank you for all the love and concern. I am so grateful for you all.”

After the catastrophe had happened, former The Voice contestant and current Warped Tour performer, Juliet Simms, released a tweet that started everyone’s concern about what had transpired at that moment.

Edit: We were at yesterday’s Warped Tour and had to endure almost two hours (three if you include the drive to West Palm) in the car while the storm passed. The venue was flood to the point that some audience members said that they went swimming int he water.

Warped Tour officials let fans know that if they chose to leave the show early, their tickets would be honored at today’s show in Orlando as well as signing tickets as well.

If anyone was excited to be checking out one-half of OutKast this Spring, it looks like that just might be out of the plan.

It was reported today that Big Boi would have to reschedule the rest of his recent tour following an injury that the rapper sustained. The current tour which was a continuation of last year’s ‘Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors’ tour, has been scrapped for now at least that’s what supporting act, Killer Mike posted on his Twitter page.

“Guys Big Boi hurt his knee.  Surgery today n 6weeks rest. Shows will be moved to Sept. I’m told.  Dre3ks Mom passed n Its best we all home,” writes the rapper on the social media site.

The last part of the tweet is referring to this morning’s breaking news that fellow OutKast member, Andre 3000’s mother had passed away earlier this week.

Filling fans in via Instagram, Big Boi posted picture of himself as well as the following message: “God Bless Atlanta Sports medicine for a successful Knee Surgery fixed my torn Patella #Jesus #backoutcheain6weeks.”

While the rapper relaxes and recharges, Killer Mike will be heading back on the touring circuit this Summer.

So far, no more information had been given as to when the rest of the tour will be rescheduled for or if it will be postponed indefinitely.
