The Word Alive Frontman Breaks Ribs Following Stage Dive

We all know that musicians, especially those in bands, get a little too into their shows. We’ve seen our fair share of musicians taking to social media to reveal that they managed to hurt themselves several time in some shape, way, or form during a tour. During their stop in Pomona, CA on Motionless In White and Devil Wears Prada’s co-headlining “Apollo X Tour,” The Word Alive’s Telle Smith definitely took the cake when it came to injuries during a show.

According to social media posts by both the band and Smith himself, he stage dove which resulted in a broken rib, another rib was fractured, and a bone in his spine was broken. But while most bands will think about cancelling the rest of their tour due to the major injuries, The Word Alive kept on going. Let’s put this in perspective: The injury happened on Nov. 14 and today (Nov. 19), the incident reached the web.

Talk about dedication.

Check out some tweets from Smith, and the band, below about what happened that night in Pomona as well as a fan shot video of that night. No word on whether the video shows what exactly led to Smith’s injuries.

Currently, there is only one day left on the Apollo X Tour, tomorrow (Nov. 20) night’s stop at Mill City Nights in Minneapolis, MN.

Pierce the Veil Guitarist to Miss Beginning of Warped Tour

Pierce the Veil are going to be down a member for the beginning of the 2015 Vans Warped Tour.

According to a Facebook post on the band’s account, guitarist Tony Perry sustained massive injuries over the weekend after an “incident” while riding his mountain bike.

PTV frontman Vic Fuentes went onto the social media platform to update fans on why Perry will be missing several days of the upcoming Summer trek. Perry sustained massive injuries including “three broken ribs, a torn shoulder, collapsed lung, and a broken sternum” which required the guitarist to undergo immediate surgery.

The upside to all the bad news is that Perry is expected to make a full recovery though the projected time frame for his return to the group is still up in the air.

It looks like he’s in good spirits about everything that has happened so far, at least from the picture that was uploaded alongside the message to fans.

As of now, the band have not revealed who will be filling in for Perry while he recovers from the surgery. The announcement, if any, will probably be made before the first day of the tour this Friday.

Read the complete post by Fuentes below and don’t forget to go onto Twitter (or any other social media platform) and wish Perry a speedy recovery.

“Hey everyone, it’s Vic. I’m sad to say that I have some bad news for you. Our guitar player @tonyperry was recently hospitalized for an incident while riding his mountain bike last weekend. He sustained 3 broken ribs, a torn shoulder, collapsed lung and a broken sternum, for which he needed immediate surgery to repair. Fortunately, his surgery went very well, and he is expected to make a full recovery. He was released from the hospital yesterday, but due to doctors orders, he will not be joining us for the beginning of Warped Tour until he is healthy enough to play. We will still be carrying on with the tour as planned, and we hope to see @tonyperry back on stage with us very soon. Your fan support is greatly appreciated, so be sure to send Tony some love while he’s healing up! Thanks and we’ll see you all on Warped!”

UPDATE: The Miami Herald is now reporting that the lighting equipment fell during the set up and that the stage’s LED display fell onto the victims. Two of the victims were critically injured.

————————————————————————————————————————————————————

EDM fans from around the world have gather in Miami for what is to be the first year that Ultra Music Festival has two full weekends dedicated to half naked people, screaming and shouting and electronic music. According to The Miami Herald, up to four people have been critically injured.

While the music festival isn’t slated to start until tomorrow, last minute things were being done so that everything would be ready for the thousands of eager fans. The collapse apparently happened during a run-through of the sound systems before the gates were to open tomorrow afternoon.

In an email sent, Lt. Ignatius Carroll, a Miami Fire Rescue spokesman said that those victim were being taken to the near by Ryder Trauma Center. There has yet to be any information as to what caused the stage to collapse, but the current high winds could have played into it.

So far, residents of Downtown Miami have been posting pictures of the area full of police and emergency vehicles just like this one courtesy of @Jave305’s shot.

Lady Gaga Cancels Remainder of ‘Born This Way’ Tour

Lady Gaga

Today it was announced that Lady Gaga would have to cancel the remaining days of her “Born This Way Tour” just a day after she had to cancel her Chicago, Detroit and Hamilton, Ontario dates. At first, the Bad Romance singer was ordered by doctors to postpone those tour dates due to severe inflammation in her joints. Now, nearly 24 hours after that announcement had been made, Live Nation has confirmed that the rest of the “Born This Way Tour” had been cancelled and this message had been written on her LittleMonsters.com website:

Live Nation Global Touring has confirmed that the remainder of the Lady Gaga Born This Way Ball performances have been cancelled.
After additional tests this morning to review the severity of the issue, it has been determined that Lady Gaga has a labral tear of the right hip. She will need surgery to repair the problem, followed by strict down time to recover. This unfortunately, will force her to cancel the tour, so she can heal.

Refunds for the cancelled performances will be available at point of purchase starting Feb 14, 2013.

Gaga would be very proud of her Little Monster; they are all more preoccupied with their Mama Monster getting better than the lack of tour dates.
