Cardi B leads 2019 Billboard Music Awards with 21 nominations

Cardi B is here to remind everyone that’s she’s here to “make money move,” and her 21 Billboard Music Awards nominations are proof of that.

On Thursday (April 4), Billboard unveiled the full list of nominees for this year’s Billboard Music Awards. The “Bodak Yellow” rapper leads the pack with a total of 21 nominations in several main categories like “Top Artist,” “Top Hot 100 Artist,” “Top Streaming Artist,” “Top Billboard 200 Album,” and more.

The “I Like It” rapper’s number of nominations this year puts her just shy of meeting the record-breaking amount of nominations —22— which was set by Drake and the Chainsmokers in 2017.

Following Cardi B with the most nominations are Drake and Post Malone. Both artists received a total of 17 nominations apiece. The rappers will go head-to-head in several categories including “Top Rap Artist,” “Top Billboard 200 Album,” “Top Rap Song,” and “Top Rap Male Artist.”

Behind Drake and Post Malone is Travis Scott with a total of 12 nominations. Scott will compete in many of the same categories as Cardi B, Drake, and Post Malone.

If you’re looking for who’s representing the rock and alternative genres at the Billboard Music Awards, you don’t need to look very far; there aren’t many rock bands on the list. Maroon 5 leads the “rock” genre with a total of seven nominations while Imagine Dragons come in with a total of six (double nomination in the “Top Rock Song” category).

Panic! at the Disco comes in with four nominations while Twenty One Pilots and lovelytheband are tied with two apiece.

This year, the Billboard Music Awards will feature two fan-voted categories; “Top Social Artist” and “Chart Achievement.”

The 2019 Billboard Music Awards will take place at the MGM Garden Arena in Las Vegas on May 1. The show will air live on NBC at 8 p.m. ET. Kelly Clarkson will host the event. Clarkson, with the help of country duo Dan + Shay, announced the full list of nominees on the “Today” show earlier in the day.

The full list of categories and their nominees can be found below.

Dan Reynolds, Kesha, Tegan & Sara to headline LoveLoud Festival 2019

Kesha, Tegan & Sara, and Martin Garrix are just some of the acts who will make their way to Utah in the summer for the annual LoveLoud Festival. On Wednesday (March 13), festival creator and Imagine Dragons’ frontman Dan Reynolds formally announced the lineup for the 2019 incarnations of the annual event.

Joining Kesha, Tegan & Sara, and Martin Garrix on the lineup for the third annual festival are PVRIS, Grouplove, Daya, K. Flay, Laura Jane Grace of Against Me!, and Reynolds. According to a press statement, additional performers and speakers will be announced at a later date.

“I’m truly honored and humbled to be headlining LoveLoud this year,” Kesha said in a statement.

“I stand with my talented friend Dan Reynolds and Imagine Dragons in this fight for equality. We need to make sure that all LGBTQ+ people feel accepted and supported and that families have the support that they need. It’s important to try to keep families together and having positive, open-minded conversations and, for me, to be a part of something that can continue building the bridge to create a safe space for everyone sounds like a beautiful opportunity. A place that supports all people and all love.”

Reynolds founded the LoveLoud Foundation and its companion festival in 2017 as a way to raise money and awareness for organizations that benefit the LGBTQ+ community, particularly those focused on mental health and suicide prevention.

As with the past incarnations of the festival, this year they aim to raise more than $1,000,000 which will be donated to a slew of LGBTQ+ organizations including The Trevor ProjectGLAAD, the Human Rights CampaignTegan and Sara Foundation, and Encircle. Last year, the festival surpassed its goal.

LoveLoud Festival will take place on June 29 at the USANA Amphitheatre in West Valley City, Utah. The date for the one-day event also has a special meaning; it’s the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots.

On June 28, 1969, New York City police raided the Stonewall Inn, a gay club in Greenwich Village, and roughly hauled employees and patrons out of the bar. The next day, angry patrons and neighborhood residents took to the streets to protest the treatment which led to violent clashes between the protesters and law enforcement.

For those who will not be able to make it in person, the entire event will be live-streamed on AT&T’s social media channels.

Tickets go on sale this Friday, March 15, at 10 a.m. MST. For returning LoveLoud Festival attendees, an exclusive pre-sale is currently happening here.

Watch: Imagine Dragons head to high school for ‘Bad Liar’ video

It’s been a few months since Imagine Dragons released their surprise fourth studio album, but that’s not stopping the band from releasing music videos for the album’s tracks. On Thursday (Jan. 25), the Las Vegas-founded band unleashed the almost-five-minute-long clip for their latest single “Bad Liar.”

The clip follows a girl dressed in white as she tries to wake up her companion, a boy, who in contrast, is dressed in dark clothing. The video predominately features the girl dancing around several high school settings like a hallway, gymnasium, and cafeteria as she attempts to wake up the boy to no avail.

While the girl and the boy are situated inside of the high school, the guys from Imagine Dragons are set up in what looks to be the parking lot of the school. The band doesn’t really do much aside from performing the song as a school bus illuminates them from behind.

Watch the music video for “Bad Liar” above.

“Bad Liar” is the band’s fourth single from their recently released record, Origins. The act previously unleashed “Natural,” “Machine,” and “Ralph Breaks the Internet” lead single, “Zero.”

Origins, the sister album to 2017’s Evolve, was released in early November and debuted at the number two spot on the Billboard 200 chart. This album marks the band’s fourth top-ten album and their third to debut at the number two spot on the Billboard 200 chart.

While the group has no current tour plans, the band will perform at this year’s BottleRock Napa Valley Music Festival in late May. Imagine Dragons will join a musically diverse lineup which includes Mumford and Sons, Flogging Molly, Jenny Lewis, Pharrell Williams, Logic, and more. The full lineup is available here.

Imagine Dragons, Mumford and Son, Neil Young lead 2019 BottleRock lineup

Imagine Dragons, Mumford and Sons, and Neil Young are just some of the musicians who will make their way to California in the spring for the 2019 incarnation of the BottleRock Napa Valley Music Festival. On Monday (Jan. 7), music festival organizers unveiled their musically diverse lineup for this year’s festivities due to take place in late-May.

Joining the aforementioned acts on the bill this year will be OneRepublic, Flogging Molly, Jenny Lewis, AJR, Lovelytheband, Pharrell Williams, Logic, Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweat, Juanes, Against Me!, and two of the “greatest living guitarists” Gary Clark Jr. and Carlos Santana.

“We definitely put the emphasis on the rock in BottleRock, with Santana and Gary Clark Jr. We’re also strong on the Latino influence with Santana and Juanes. And Pharrell Williams has produced some of the most well-known songs today,” Dave Graham of BottleRock Presents said in a statement.

“Imagine Dragons can cater to 12-year-olds, soccer moms and 25- to 30-year-olds, and their music appeals to my age and up. I’m 46. Since they played BottleRock the first time in 2015, they’ve taken off and exploded. In 2017, they came out with ‘Believer,’ ‘Thunder,’ ‘Whatever It Takes’ and ‘Natural.’ We’re glad to have them back,” adds Graham.

In total over 80 acts will take over one of six stages during the three-day event.

In addition to the rocking roster, the event will also include access to wine, food, and craft beers all from the Napa Valley area as well as a culinary stage, VIP experiences, spa and salon options, and a silent disco.

Three-day passes for the upcoming festival go on sale beginning this Tuesday. Jan. 8, at 10 a.m. PT. Single-day passes will go on sale this Thursday, Jan. 10. For more information about the music festival, tickets, or the lineup, head on over to BottleRock’s website here.

BottleRock will take place in Napa Valley during the weekend of May 24 – 26. Doors open each day at 11:30 a.m. while the last act ends at 10 p.m. each night.

The full lineup for this year’s BottleRock can be found below.

Watch Imagine Dragons’ ‘The Origins Experience’ event

Back in October, Imagine Dragons announced a massive event set to take place in their hometown just in time for their new album’s release. At the time of the reveal, there was no information given as to what fans should expect. On Wednesday (Nov. 7), the Las Vegas-founded act took over the Cosmopolitan Las Vegas for their massive Origins Experience show.

As speculated by many, the two-hour event featured the band performing several tracks from Origins including “Natural,” “Zero,” “Machine,” and their recently released single, “Bad Lair.” In addition to their new song, the band also incorporated other tunes from their discography like “It’s Time,” “Shots,” “Thunder,” “Believer,” “Radioactive,” and more.

Watch the complete concert above.

Imagine Dragons’ new studio album, Origins, is due out this Friday, Nov. 9. Pre-orders for the record are still available here. According to the band, the forthcoming release is the companion album to 2017’s Evolve.

Imagine Dragons will return to the Cosmopolitan’s stage at the end of December. Back in September, the band was confirmed as one of two acts set to headline the iconic venue’s New Year’s Eve festivities. Tickets are now available for purchase online at the Cosmopolitan’s website or through Ticketmaster.

Imagine Dragons drop ‘Bad Liar’ ahead of new album release

Imagine Dragons’ new studio album is a few days away from being in the hands of fans, but that’s not stopping the band from unleashing another new song from it. On Tuesday (Nov. 6), the Las Vegas-founded act revealed a fourth song from their upcoming new album, Origins. The new tune is titled “Bad Liar” and can be streamed above.

“Bad Liar” will join previously released tracks “Machine,” “Zero” (also featured in the upcoming Disney/Pixar film “Ralph Breaks the Internet”), and current radio staple “Natural” on the fourth studio effort. Origins is due out Nov. 9 through Interscope Records and is the sister album to their 2017 release, Evolve. Pre-orders for the upcoming record are currently available on Imagine Dragons’ website.

In support of the new album’s release, the band previously announced plans to host a massive event prior to its Friday due date. Titled the Origins Experience, the event will take place in the group’s hometown of Las Vegas on Wednesday, Nov. 7. Fans who managed to obtain tickets to the event will most likely be given the opportunity to hear some several new songs live.

Back in October, the band posted a short video online announcing the one-night event. The 20-second clip was vague, only revealing the date of the event, the location of the event, and a direct link to the band’s website. On the other side of the link is a web page with instructions on how fans can get tickets for the upcoming event.

All fans needed to do was interact with the band’s new dragons bot on Facebook.

Listen: Imagine Dragons drop ‘Machine’

A week after unleashing the official music video for their “Ralph Breaks the Internet” contribution, Imagine Dragons are back at it again. On Wednesday (Oct. 31), the Las Vegas-founded band unveiled another new song from their forthcoming studio album. Titled “Machine,” the band headed over to Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 radio show on Apple Music to formally introduce the new track to the world.

After debuting the new song on the show, the band went forward with releasing the new track online. Listen to “Machine” above.

“Machine” will join “Zero” and current rock radio staple “Natural” on Imagine Dragons’ fourth studio album. Origins, the sister album to 2017’s Evolve, is due out Nov. 9 through Interscope Records. Pre-orders for Origins are currently available on Imagine Dragons’ website.

As if the new album release wasn’t enough, the quartet recently unveiled plans to host a massive new album event next week in their hometown. The Origins Experience super show will take place next Wednesday, Nov. 7, and will reportedly be broadcast live. More information about the upcoming show can be found on Imagine Dragons’ website.

Watch: Imagine Dragons bring arcade games to life in ‘Zero’

A couple of weeks after surprising fans with the announcement of a new studio album, Imagine Dragons have returned with the music video for their latest single. On Monday (Oct. 23), the Las Vegas-founded band dropped the music video for their new song, and “Ralph Breaks the Internet” contribution, “Zero.” The Dave Meyers-directed clip finds the band getting sucked into the world of video games while footage from the upcoming Disney/Pixar film is interwoven into the almost-four-minute clip.

The video finds the members of Imagine Dragons playing different roles including the unfortunate cashier dealing with teenagers and different characters inside of a game. The clip even features frontman Dan Reynolds with an over-sized head, stuck inside of a video game reminiscent of Pac-Man.

As the premise for the upcoming “Wreck-It Ralph” sequel is about Ralph and Vanellope heading to the internet to find a controller to fix her broken arcade game, the music video features an unsuspecting soul getting hit in the face with a football resulting in him breaking said controller. Watch the music video for “Zero” above.

“Zero” will join Imagine Dragons’ previously released track “Natural” on their upcoming new album Origins. Origins, the sister album to 2017’s Evolve, is due out Nov. 9 through Interscope Records. Pre-orders for Origins are currently available on Imagine Dragons’ website.

The band is offering two different versions of the album; a standard version which includes 12 songs and a deluxe version which includes 15 songs. All pre-orders will include instant downloads of both “Natural” and “Zero.”

Imagine Dragons to release ‘Origins’ in November

Imagine Dragons may have spent most of the year on the road in support of their recently released record Evolve, but that hasn’t stopped the group from putting together another new record for their loyal fan base. On Thursday (Oct. 4), the Las Vegas founded band took to social media to confirm the release of their fourth studio album. Titled Origins, the impending release is due out Nov. 9 through Interscope Records. According to the band, the forthcoming release is the sister album to 2017’s Evolve.

“And it feels like a sister album to Evolve. It kind of completes the cycle to us. It’s fresh and it feels green and it feels healthy and we’re all really proud of it.”

At the time of the new album announcement, the act had already debuted a pair of song from the forthcoming record. Earlier in the year they released “Natural” which at first was believed to be a standalone single. “Natural” is the band’s fourth straight No. 1 on Billboard‘s Alternative Songs chart. The second single, “Zero,” made its debut last month when the band announced it would be featured in Disney/Pixar’s “Wreck-It Ralph” sequel, “Ralph Breaks the Internet.”

Pre-orders for Origins are currently available on Imagine Dragons’ website. The band is offering two different versions of the album; a standard version which includes 12 songs and a deluxe version which includes 15 songs. All pre-orders will include instant downloads of both “Natural” and “Zero.”

Recently, Imagine Dragons was confirmed as one of two acts to headline a New Year’s Eve show in Las Vegas. The group will take the stage at the Cosmopolitan in Sin City on Dec. 31 to ring in the new year.

Tickets start at $100 and go on sale Friday, Oct. 12, at 10 a.m. PDT and are available for purchase online at the Cosmopolitan’s website or through Ticketmaster.
