Slipknot, Guns N’ Roses, and Disturbed are just some of the bands who will make their way to Kentucky in late September for the 2019 edition of Louder than Life. On Monday (April 8), Danny Wimmer Presents, the production company behind some of the country’s biggest music festivals, unveiled the full lineup for this year’s event.

Joining Slipknot, Guns N’ Roses, and Disturbed on this year’s roster are Godsmack, Ice Cube, A Day to Remember, Rob Zombie, Breaking Benjamin, Chevelle, Halestorm, Marilyn Manson, Staind, and more.

This year’s Louder than Life will be Guns N’ Roses’ first performance in 2019 as well as Staind’s first public performance in five years.

“We wouldn’t be living up to the name Louder than Life if we didn’t come back bigger and badder than ever, giving fans something they can’t see anywhere else,” festival producer Danny Wimmer said in a press statement.

“Getting Staind back together and plugged in on the main stage is something that I’ve been working on for years. These are songs that need to be heard, that fans have been dying to hear — Staind has been one of the most requested bands on our socials, and it’s an honor to be bringing their music back for the fans at Louder than Life.”

He continues: “Slipknot has always had some of the most loyal, rabid fans in rock, but now they are at that pivotal moment when they’ve crossed over into iconic status; Disturbed has had their best touring numbers to date this year; then top it off with one of the biggest rock bands of all time in Guns N’ Roses…this year is our most massive lineup yet.”

In total, over 50 bands will take over one of three stages during the three-day event.

In addition to the rocking lineup of acts, attendees will also get to enjoy award-winning bourbons, whiskey, spirits, craft beer, and “the best food Louisville has to offer.”

Tickets for Louder than Life are currently available on the festival’s website. As usual, they will be offering single-day passes, three-day passes, VIP packages as well as hotel and camping passes.

For fans attending Louder than Life’s sister festivals Hometown Rising Country Music & Bourbon Festival (Sept. 14 – 15) and Bourbon & Beyond (Sept. 20 – 22),  a special Trifesta pass is available for purchase. The Trifesta pass includes general admission into all three music festivals.

Louder than Life will make its grand debut at its new home of Highland Festival Grounds at KY Expo Center in Louisville during the weekend of Sept. 27-29.

Riot Fest Chicago 2015 Line-Up Unveiled

After revealing the line-up for the two other “spin-off” festivals the original made way for, how exactly do you follow that up?

By revealing the completely awesome line-up the original festival is going to have.

After giving fans the list of artists slated to make their way to Denver and/or Toronto (while also keeping some names secret), Riot Fest have released the names of those who will be taking a trip to the birthplace of the festival at their new stomping ground, Douglas Park, Chicago during the weekend of Sept. 11-13.

Much like the others, Riot Fest Chicago will feature performances from Tenacious D, Iggy Pop, Motörhead, Alexisonfire, Alkaline Trio, and many more.

What makes this line-up so different (at least for now) are the artists that will be performing their full albums during their sets(kind of like last year).

Snoop Dogg will perform Doggystyle, Ice Cube & Guests will perform Straight Outta Compton, Rancid will perform … And Out Come The Wolves, The Dwarves will perform Blood Guts and Pussy, while hometown boys The Academy is…will reunite after four years to perform Almost Here.

Check out the line-up below.

NWA Biopic Casts Key Roles

image

The NWA bio-pic has reportedly cast the roles of Ice Cube, Dr. Dre and Eazy-E. Universal has decided to forgo the typical route taken by casting big names for such high profiled roles, and have instead decided to cast unknown actors to portray the roles of the rappers.

Straight Outta Compton, which is fitting named after the NWA’s hit 1988 record has been in the midst of development for the past five years and reportedly has had no less than four writers attached to the bio-pic’s screenplay. After all the roadblocks, it was beginning to seem like the film would never get on its feet and make it to the production stage.

Thanks in part to an article published on Billboard, it seems like the time had finally comes for the film to move forward, especially since some key roles for the film have been cast.

After several weeks of speculation, it was confirmed that Ice Cube’s son, O’Shea Jackson will play his father’s role in the film. Rounding out the main cast are New York theater actor, Marcus Callender as Dr. Dre, while up and comer, Jason Mitchell will take on the role of Eazy-E.

Billboard claims that Mitchell’s casting comes after an inside source told the publication he “nailed” his screen test.

As for the rest of the film, it has been derailed so many times in the past that, hopefully, it’s a thing of the past and the film can move forward. The small issues that will probably derail it again will do with the actual screen play since Ice Cube, Dr. Dre and Eazy-E’s widow Tomica Wright, have script and cast veto powers.

If things don’t go smoothly, this will be very interesing.
