Watch Gerard Way Perform Two “New” Songs Live

image

It’s been almost a year since former My Chemical Romance frontman, Gerard Way, announced that he would be pursuing a solo career with a solo on the horizon.

Time has quickly passed and now as a treat, the singer has been giving fans the chance to listen to two “new” songs that he’s had hiding up his sleeve (or funky socks. You’d understand if you follow him on Twitter).

As the singer has revealed, one of the two encore songs is a track titled “Don’t Try” which was originally intended to be featured on his debut album, Hesitant Alien. Though the song did not make the final, now it’s making a come back during his encores and it seems fans are enjoying it so much that Way is entertaining the idea of releasing it.

How, when and, if are still up in the air.

But “Don’t Try” shouldn’t be getting all the attention because a true new song has also been making its debut during the encore set. Way has confirmed that a new song titled “Kid Nothing” has been performed during the encore set with its official debut happening in London on Jan. 23.

Check out some fan shot video from way’s show last night in Paris (Jan. 18).

Watch Gerard Way’s 80s Inspired Video for “Millions”

Former My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way has been making his rounds in support of his new solo venture with special appearances, mini tours, and all that good stuff.

Two weeks ago, the singer gave fans the chance to listen to his debut solo album, Hesitant Alien, a week ahead of time which was met with rather good first impressions.

In an interview before the album title had even been revealed, Way had said that the album would be focused on the “least radio friendly instrument” and would have some influences from music genres like shoegaze.

The full album has now been out for officially a week, and today the music video fro the track “Millions” has been released on The Guardian, but you really don’t have to head over there to see the music video.

Check out the video which sends some of us back to the days when music videos were just starting out with its crappy quality, frames freezing, and some serious case of the glitches. We’re going to assume that is exactly what Way wanted from the music video.

Gerard Way Releases “No Shows” Video

image

After officially making his solo debut at Warner Bros. a few weeks back and confirming that he will be playing a warm-up gig before Reading and Leeds this weekend, former My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way has unveiled the music video for his song “No Shows.”

The former frontman premiered the new song on BBC Radio last night, and now has brought the new single home for fans here in the US. The song will be featured on Way’s upcoming, solo debut, Hesitant Alien which is slated to released on September 30.

Check out the video below and take a trip to an 80s television show, if any of you were born at the time and could remember that. The video does come less than a week after Way released a teaser about Pink Zero Station, which as we can see in the music video is the galactic television show Way and his band appear on. As for the song, it sounds like something that would have appeared on the My Chemical Romance Conventional Weapons “album.”

If you happen to be going to Reading and Leeds this weekend, do us a favor and get some video of Way’s performance because we’re really intrigued by that.

Gerard Way Makes Official Solo Debut

Former My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way officially made his solo debut this past weekend at Warner Bros. headquarters in Burbank, CA.

The frontman treated the people at Warner Bros. to several of his new tracks including lead single, “Action Cat” and another new track “Juarez” which will be featured on his upcoming solo debut record, Hesitant Alien.

At the time of the showcase, which took place last Friday, there were only a handful of clips and pictures from the performance since it was an intimate thing at the record label’s headquarters.

Thanks to some dude on YouTube, complete footage of both songs has now been acquired. In the video, you can also see that the group has now been dubbed, Gerard Way and the Hormones, because apparently you “can’t have rock and roll with out them,” at least according to Way.

“Juarez”:

“Action Cat”:

The showcase should not come as a surprise because for a week ro so now, there has been talk that Way would perform a secret show before his official solo debut at Reading and Leeds during the weekend of August 22-24.

Gerard Way Reveals More Info About ‘Hesitant Alien’

image

At this point, most fans of My Chemical Romance have come to grips with the fact that any hopes of reunions or one-offs are finished.

With all members going their separate ways, musically, these hopes are ling gone.

Over the last couple of months, former MCR frontman, Gerard Way had revealed that not only would he be releasing a solo album, but that he had been signed to his former band’s label, Warner Bros. Records. But, the news of the new music did not stop there.

Taking to social media, the singer released the first single from the record, “Action Cat,” as well as the name of the upcoming release which was titled, Hesitant Alien.

“I wanted to make the small things sound big,” Way said in a press release. “My intention was to make 100 percent uncompromised art, using the currently least radio-friendly instrument: the guitar. I knew there would be lots of fuzz pedals. I knew I would play Fender instruments. I knew I would look at who my guitar heroes were in art school, Mary Timony and Carrie Brownstein, and I drew a lot of influence from shoegaze and Brit-pop. I want the record to sonically galvanize people.”

Earlier this month, Way spoke with NME about the album before it was given its title, Hesitant Alien. In the interview he revealed that he was inspired by “struggle, beginnings, finding a newness in the mundane and the abstract.”

“I looked to the Britpop poets like Jarvis Cocker and Damon Albarn, drawing upon everyday life,” explained Way. “I also experimented with the abstract, and looked at Frank Black’s work both with the Pixies, and as a solo artist. There was no concept and no call-to-arms.”

Hesitant Alien will officially be released on September 30.

The album will be available for pre-order at retailers beginning Tuesday, August 19th while exclusive bundles can be purchased over at Way’s website.

For those opting for the pre-order, and instant download of new track, “No Shows” will come with that.

But when you already made a name for yourself as the lead singer of one of the biggest bands of the 2000’s how exactly do you make your debut?

At Reading and Leeds, of course.

Way will be debuting his new material during his first solo shows at Reading on August 22 and Leeds on August 23.
