Activision Unveil More ‘Guitar Hero Live’ Bands

Months after announcing the resurrection of the once beloved game, the company behind “Guitar Hero” is back to announce even more additions the upcoming video game.

Previously, Activision had revealed that bands like Of Mice & Men, Deftones, Bring Me the Horizon, Pierce the Veil, Fall Out Boy, and My Chemical Romance would be feature on the game with a lot more to be unveiled in the upcoming months before the game’s release.

Today (Aug. 5), Activision has kept their promise and released the identities of even more artists to be features on “Guitar Hero Live’s” track list. English band You Me at Six, newcomers Echosmith, Panic! at the Disco, and Blink-182 are just some bands who have been added to the already packed list.

“Guitar Hero Live” is set to be released on Oct. 20, 2015 and will be available for Xbox One, Xbox 360, Playstation 4, Playstation 3, Wii U, and mobile devices.

Activision Release New Guitar Hero Live Song Titles

Now that everyone knows Guitar Hero Live will be heading our way in the Fall (no official release date), the people behind the video game, Activision, have been revealing the titles and artists to be featured on the new installation of the guitar-centric game.

Today, a new wave of song titles which includes tracks from Chevelle, Rise Against, A Day to Remember, and more were released. Those newly added songs can been seen below in bold while the previously released tracks are listed below that.

Guitar Hero Live Reveal First Batch of Song Titles

Last month, Activision revealed that after a five-year hiatus, they would be bringing back their Guitar Hero franchise from the dead with several changes including a more realistic controller, a first-person perspective on the game, and a more modern tracklist as opposed to the classic rock tracks of the past.

As part of their promotion for the new game, set to be released this Fall, the company unveiled 24 songs (and their rightful musicians) from the upcoming game. According to Rolling Stone, this first batch of song titles is just part of a weekly roll out that will eventually includes hundreds of song titles.

The songs from this batch include Ed Sheeran’s “Sing,” Pierce the Veil’s “King for a Day” featuring Sleeping with Sirens’ frontman Kellin Quinn, The Killers’ “When You Were Young” as well as Fall Out Boy’s “My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light ‘Em Up),” and My Chemical Romance’s “Na Na Na.”

The latter should not come as a surprise, since Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz and former My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way were on hand during the unveiling back in April.

Guitar Hero to Make a Comeback in the Fall

It’s been five years since the last “Guitar Hero” video game was released, and now, Activision and FreeStyleGames have announced the guitar-centric video game will be making a come back.

In a major press event earlier today, the people behind the hit video game officially announced that a new version of the game will be headed our way this Fall but no official release date was given. Some speculate this will happen during the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in June.

The new game will be called “Guitar Hero Live” which is one of the things that will make it different from it predecessors. “Guitar Hero Live,” like the name says, will be a live interactive game and will feature a new version of the plastic guitar as the controller.

Unlike past guitars, it will have six plectrums as opposed to the five from the previous incarnations; Fender, Gretch, Yamaha, Zildjian, and Blackstar have all contributed to the design.

Another difference comes when the player is actually playing the game. Before, there used to be a figure representing the player, making it a little difficult to concentrate on the keys you needed to hit. But now, the point of view will be first person, allowing the player to see the “overly eager” fans in the crowd, or their fellow bandmates.

The footage will range from small nightclubs, to huge stadiums, all taking place in London.

Another issue that seems to have been kind of resolved, is the problem of the revolving door that is the music industry. When the game was at its prime, rock bands were all the rage, but now hip hop and dance music seem to be prominent. To keep up with the trend, the game will feature something called “Guitar Hero TV” which will let the player flip through genre-specfic channels for the music that best fits them as well as allow the player to play against friends or people across the globe, 24 hours a day.

Then, there’s the best part about the game. The music.

As of now, acts like Green Day, Ed Sheeran, The Killers, Pierce the Veil, Skrillex, The Black Keys, The Rolling Stones, Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance and several more have been confirmed.

In a cool twist, they had Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz and former My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way on hand at the event to try out the new device.

All in all, a game we’re really excited for as music lovers, video game people and those weirdos who still have the “Guitar Hero II” game and guitar at home.
