5 Seconds of Summer become Ghostbusters in ‘Girls Talk Boys’ video

A week after releasing their contribution to the Ghostbusters soundtrack, 5 Seconds of Summer has released their music video for the new track. On Friday (July 22), the Australian band unveiled the official music video for their new funky song, “Girls Talk Boys.” The music video features the four guys dressed up in the iconic Ghostbusters uniform with guns including the blaster.

During the clip, they are seen cruising around in the Ecto-1, looking for ghosts and monster. Sadly, it doesn’t look like being a Ghostbuster is the most fitting job for the guys, as they scram every time a ghost/monster shows up. Let’s just say they shouldn’t quit their day jobs as musicians. Watch the music video for “Girls Talk Boys” below.

“Girls Talk Boys” is featured on the Ghostbusters remake’s soundtrack. The album, like the film, was released on July 15. The soundtrack also features songs by Walk the Moon, Wolf Alice, Elle King, and that not-so-good Fall Out Boy/Missy Elliot update of Ghostbusters (I’m Not Afraid).” Currently, 5 Seconds of Summer is in the middle of their massive “Sounds Live, Feels Live” summer tour. Tonight (July 25), the band is taking a much deserved break, but will continue their North American trek on Tuesday, July 26, when they touch down at the Riverbend Music Center in Cincinnati, OH. The remaining tour stops of the “Sounds Live, Feels Live” tour can be seen here.

5 Seconds of Summer get funky with ‘Ghostbusters’ contribution

After the very lukewarm (you can almost say cold) reception Fall Out Boy and Missy Elliot’s “Ghostbusters (I’m Not Afraid)” cover got a few weeks ago, many were starting to wonder if all the songs on the soundtrack for the recently-released remake would be as bad. With a list of artists that included Walk the Moon, Elle King, Wolf Alice, Pentatonix, and more, it would appear that the album would be a hit, but then the massive misstep happened.

On Thursday evening (July 14), 5 Seconds of Summer drummer Ashton Irwin took to Twitter to announce some big things that were happening to the band. “Tomorrow is a huge day in 5SOS land. One of the biggest gigs of our career and we have a new song out and it’s all happening.” The song the drummer was hinting at was the Australian band’s contribution to the Ghostbusters soundtrack. As foretold by the sticksman, on Friday (July 15), the soundtrack was released with 5SOS’ song being the first one to garner attention.

The group’s contribution to the original motion picture album is titled “Girls Talk Boys” and seems to be a (slight) departure from the kind of music they have been known to produce. Instead of leaning towards their pop-punk area of things, the four piece’s song is more on the funky side; kind of what we have kind of come to expect from Joe Jonas’ new project DNCE. To say that this is a huge step up from the album’s previous single is an understatement. Listen to “Girls Talk Boys” below.

Currently, 5 Seconds of Summer is in the middle of their huge, “Sounds Live Feels Live” world tour. Tonight, the group is due to perform at New York’s Madison Square Gardens. The complete list of upcoming tour dates can be found here.

Fall Out Boy give iconic ‘Ghostbusters’ song a face lift

Fall Out Boy have been a little quiet since their ‘Wintour is Coming’ tour wrapped a while back, but now, they’re back in action. On Thursday (June 23), the Chicago-based band released their contribution to the Ghostbusters soundtrack. The group joined forces with Missy Elliot to give the film’s iconic song a major face lift. Check out the Fall Out Boy/Missy Elliot version of “Ghostbusters (I’m Not Afraid)” below.

Fall Out Boy and Missy Elliot will be in good company on the upcoming soundtrack. Walk the Moon, 5 Seconds of Summer, Elle King, Wolf Alice, Pentatonix, Jeremih & G-Eazy will all contribute songs for the upcoming album. Pre-orders for the soundtrack are currently available on iTunes, Amazon, and Google Play. Those who pre-order the album ahead of time will get an instant download of this track. The Ghostbusters soundtrack is set to hit store on July 15, the same exact day the film is slated to hit theaters.
