Shadow of the City music festival announces 2016 lineup

The 2nd annual Shadow of the City Music Festival has officially announced its lineup for the 2016 incarnation of the festival. On Monday (March 14), the Jack Antonoff-launched music festival announced its genre-varied lineup. The 1975, Carly Rae Jepsen, FrnkIero andthe Cellabration, and others will make the trip to New Jersey in June.

The music festival which launched in 2015 is the brain child of the Bleachers frontman who explains he wanted to bring something back to his home state of New Jersey. “I always wanted to have a festival in New Jersey, so last year was amazing,” Antonoff tells Entertainment Weekly. “The whole thing is exactly what I hoped it would be, which is just like, if I was 15 and could throw a party and invite 10,000 people, that’s what it would look like.”

But while Bleachers were one of the many headliners for the inaugural event, the “Rollercoaster” group will not be appearing this year. Instead, another Antonoff band will perform; Steel Train.  “I was just thinking about it, and I was like, okay, I want this [festival] to exist beyond me, but I need to be part of this thing,” Antonoff explains. “I see Shadow of the City as, once a year, I can do something very bizarre, whether it’s get Steel Train back together, or talk to my friends about coming and doing a show with me. I want it to exist as a place where people can expect that I’m going to do something totally out-there.”

Check out the lineup for the music festival which is scheduled to take place at Seaside Heights, NJ on June 18.

Frnkiero andthe Cellabration to Head Out on First Headlining Tour

image

Over a year after announcing the creation of his new music project, Frank Iero has now announced that Frnkiero andthe cellabration will be heading out on their first ever headlining tour.

Up until now, the band have been playing the role of supporting act for several bands including Taking Back Sunday and The Used, but now, they will be the headliners for their trek across the country.

The former My Chemical Romance guitarist had told fans yesterday to keep their eyes open for some exciting news, and like promised, today the tour was revealed as well as the tour dates.

The almost two month trek will begin on Feb. 18 in New York at The Studio in Webster Hall and visit several North American cities before wrapping up in Iero’s home state of New Jersey at Asbury Park’s The Stone Pony on Apr. 2.

“I’m really looking forward to finally bringing the whole record to the stage,” said Iero in a statement.

Stomachaches started out as a personal challenge to overcome how I felt and transform my adversity into something beautiful and creative. It has now taken on a completely new life and started to change and evolve the more I share these songs publicly. I’m excited to see how far the band and the work can grow as a result of touring it in its entirety.

The Homeless Gospel Choir and Modern Chemistry will be joining Iero and the rest of the band on the tour. Full tour dates can be seen below.

Frnkiero andthe cellabration Go “Joyriding”

image

After hinting at their new music video, Frnkiero andthe cellbaration have finally released the music video for their second single, “Joyriding.”

It was announced last week that this track, which happened to be the first demo from the new project to be released, would become the second single from their recently released album, stomachaches.

For anyone that feels a little surprised by all the blood in the video, this is Frank Iero we are talking about; Halloween baby to the end. Plus, the first music video wasn’t exactly rainbow and unicorns, you know with the kidnapping of a corpse and pulling out the insides of those pesky “goonies” that kidnapped the corpse.

If you pay close enough attention to the beginning of the “Weighted” video, you will notice the music video for “Joyriding” is the same video playing on the television in the main kid’s room.

Check out the video below.

Frankiero andthe cellaration will soon be heading out on tour with Taking Back Sunday and The Used in support of stomachaches. After that, the group are slated to head across the pond on another tour.
