After weeks of teasing with pictures and hints, Frnkiero and the Cellbaration have finally released the music video for their lead single, “Weighted.”
The video, which goes from “okay cute” with a Goonies-esque opening scene of a group of kids on their bikes outside of a funeral home to “creepy” in no time. The black and white video plays up the creepy, Halloween-centric-ness that we have come to enjoy from frontman Iero perfectly well. Come on, the first shot of Iero features him inside of a coffin and the little kids want to “steal the corpse.”
Oh yeah, we won’t mention what happens towards the end of the video. Check it all out here.
“I’m so excited for people to see this video we made,” said Iero.
“When I first wrote out the treatment/concept, I knew it had to be John Carlucci and Brandon Laganke in the directors chair and my friend Tate Steinsiek on special effects. No one else could have made my dreams a reality like they did. I needed incredibly talented, sick-in-the-head individuals who didn’t mind working 32 hours a day to make this all happen. And I must say I am forever indebted to their beautifully deranged spirits.”
“Weighted” is the first single from the newly-formed group’s upcoming debut, Stomachaches which will be release through Staples Record on August 26.
In support of their debut record, Iero and company (guitarist Evan Nestor, bassist Rob Hughes, and drummer Matt Olsson) will be heading out on tour with Taking Back Sunday and The Used beginning at the end of the month.
