Mayday Parade, the Maine, the Wonder Years to headline inaugural Sad Summer Fest

sadsummer2019Dear Emo kids, we know the days of following Warped Tour across the country have come to an end, but that’s okay because it looks like we’ll be getting a new traveling music fest really soon. On Tuesday (March 19), the first annual Sad Summer Fest was announced. Following a week of cryptic online posts from several bands on the lineup, the event and its accompanying list were confirmed.

The cross-country event will feature performances by Mayday Parade, State Champs, the Maine, the Wonder Years, Mom Jeans, Stand Atlantic, L.I.F.T., and Just Friends. In addition to the acts mentioned above, who will play almost all the dates on the gig’s itinerary, acts like Every Avenue, Four Year Strong, Set It Off, Forever the Sickest Kids, and Emo Nite will also appear on select dates.

The impending tour will include stops in major markets such as Houston, Orlando, Baltimore, Chicago, Denver, and a two-night engagement at the Masquerade in Atlanta (July 8 and 9).

Sad Summer Fest will start its summertime excursion on July 5 at Gas Monkey Live! in Dallas. The trek will wrap up a month later on Aug. 3 at the City National Grove Outdoors in Anaheim.

“What could be better than being emo with your best friends in the sweet summer sun? Being emotional with your friends in the sweet summer sun at the Sad Summer Festival, that’s what,” the Maine’s John O’Callaghan said in a press release.

Mayday Parade’s Derek Sanders adds: “This tour is about putting aside our differences and coming together as a community of people to enjoy music and art. I’m thrilled to be a part of it, and I can’t wait to see everyone out there.”

Limited pre-sale tickets are currently available on the traveling festival’s website with the code SAD. General ticket sales begin this Friday, March 22, at 10 a.m. local time.

Back in October, Every Avenue announced two reunion shows following six years on hiatus. Similarly, Forever the Sickest Kids began teasing fans of a possible return at the beginning of the year. Last year, they re-issued their debut album Underdog Alma Mater on vinyl.

Dan Reynolds, Kesha, Tegan & Sara to headline LoveLoud Festival 2019

Kesha, Tegan & Sara, and Martin Garrix are just some of the acts who will make their way to Utah in the summer for the annual LoveLoud Festival. On Wednesday (March 13), festival creator and Imagine Dragons’ frontman Dan Reynolds formally announced the lineup for the 2019 incarnations of the annual event.

Joining Kesha, Tegan & Sara, and Martin Garrix on the lineup for the third annual festival are PVRIS, Grouplove, Daya, K. Flay, Laura Jane Grace of Against Me!, and Reynolds. According to a press statement, additional performers and speakers will be announced at a later date.

“I’m truly honored and humbled to be headlining LoveLoud this year,” Kesha said in a statement.

“I stand with my talented friend Dan Reynolds and Imagine Dragons in this fight for equality. We need to make sure that all LGBTQ+ people feel accepted and supported and that families have the support that they need. It’s important to try to keep families together and having positive, open-minded conversations and, for me, to be a part of something that can continue building the bridge to create a safe space for everyone sounds like a beautiful opportunity. A place that supports all people and all love.”

Reynolds founded the LoveLoud Foundation and its companion festival in 2017 as a way to raise money and awareness for organizations that benefit the LGBTQ+ community, particularly those focused on mental health and suicide prevention.

As with the past incarnations of the festival, this year they aim to raise more than $1,000,000 which will be donated to a slew of LGBTQ+ organizations including The Trevor ProjectGLAAD, the Human Rights CampaignTegan and Sara Foundation, and Encircle. Last year, the festival surpassed its goal.

LoveLoud Festival will take place on June 29 at the USANA Amphitheatre in West Valley City, Utah. The date for the one-day event also has a special meaning; it’s the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots.

On June 28, 1969, New York City police raided the Stonewall Inn, a gay club in Greenwich Village, and roughly hauled employees and patrons out of the bar. The next day, angry patrons and neighborhood residents took to the streets to protest the treatment which led to violent clashes between the protesters and law enforcement.

For those who will not be able to make it in person, the entire event will be live-streamed on AT&T’s social media channels.

Tickets go on sale this Friday, March 15, at 10 a.m. MST. For returning LoveLoud Festival attendees, an exclusive pre-sale is currently happening here.

Foo Fighters, Robert Plant, Zac Brown Band to headline Bourbon and Beyond 2019

The Foo Fighters, Robert Plant, and the Zac Brown Band are just some of the acts that will make their way to Kentucky in the fall for this year’s Bourbon & Beyond music festival. On Tuesday (March 12), festival officials unveiled the lineup for the 2019 incarnation of the annual event.

In total, more than 45 musicians will take one of three stages during the three-day event.

As if the music portion of the festival wasn’t enough to get people stoked for the upcoming event, the three-day show’s centerpiece —Kroger’s Big Bourbon Bar presented by Louisville Courier-Journal— will feature more than two dozen hand-selected bourbons from top distilleries as well as a unique opportunity to enjoy bourbons and exclusive one-time specialty cocktails.

As part of their partnership with Kroger’s and their Zero Hunger | Zero Waste initiative, 25 cents from each ticket sold will be donated directly to Dare to Care Food Bank.

Because a person cannot live on alcohol alone, the festival will also include “a taste of Louisville” with selections from local and regional restaurants such as Boss Hog BBQ, Couvillion, Doc Crow’s Southern Smokehouse & Raw Bar, Ehrler’s Ice Cream, Eli’s BBQ, Heine Brothers Coffee, Hull And Highwater, Joella’s Hot Chicken, Merle’s Whiskey Kitchen, Sarino, Seviche, and more.

Dubbed as the “world’s largest bourbon festival,” this year will also mark the first year that the event has expanded from two to three days.

Godsmack, Fiver Finger Death Punch, Taking Back Sunday lead INKCARCERATION 2019 lineup

Godsmack, Taking Back Sunday, Five Finger Death Punch, and Shinedown are just some of the acts who will head to Ohio this summer for the second annual INKCARCERATION Music and Tattoo Festival. On Tuesday (Jan. 15), festival organizers unveiled the rock-centric roster for this year’s event.

Joining the aforementioned acts on the bill are +LIVE+, Seether, Skillet, I Prevail, Starset, Motionless in White, Red Sun Rising, Fozzy, Buckcherry, POD, Andrew W.K., the Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, and more. In total, over 30 bands will take over one of two stages throughout the weekend-long festivities.

In addition to the rocking lineup, the music festival will also include over 70 booths of local and regional tattoo artists. The list of tattoo artists who will be attending this year’s event can be found here. For those who are interested in getting a tattoo during the three-day event, all you need to do is select the artist you would like to work with and schedule an appointment. Simple as that.

If music and tattoos weren’t enough to get you excited, organizers also revealed that attendees can experience Escape From Blood Prison, the annual Halloween haunted house attraction hosted at the Ohio State Reformatory during the months of September, October, and November. This year, the attraction will give attendees the opportunity to experience the frights and sights in early July.

“It’s an honor to be able to open the doors of Blood Prison a couple of months early and give the guests of INKCARCERATION a few scares in July! The warden, his family and the Blood Prison inmates are all excited to meet the fans at INKCARCERATION,” says Vic Amesquita, manager of Blood Prison.

But music, tattoos, and haunted houses are not the only chilling attractions INKCARCERATION will offer this year. Organizers also revealed that attendees can take part in self-guided tours of the historic Ohio State Reformatory, home of the “Shawshank Prison,” during the music festival. According to the festival’s website, the complete, immersive tour should take roughly an hour and a half, so it may be wise to plan accordingly.

“Building off such a strong inaugural year, we are so stoked to give our fans even more in year two,” begins a press statement from the music festival’s promoters.

“With Billboard chart-topping bands such as Shinedown, Godsmack and Five Finger Death Punch leading the way, tattoo artists from around the globe, and the historic backdrop of the haunted Shawshank Prison, INKCARCERATION 2019 will be the don’t miss rock event of the summer in the Midwest!”

INKCARCERATION 2019 will take place at the Ohio State Reformatory in Mansfield, Ohio during the weekend of July 12-14. Tickets for the music festival are currently available here.
