Weezer channels Guns ‘N’ Roses for new video

The saying goes “imitation is the sincerest form of flattery” and for Weezer, they just showed their they respect for rock icons Guns ‘N’ Roses in one of the few ways they could. On Thursday (July 27), the California-founded band unveiled another video for their current summer jam, “Feels Like Summer.” The clip finds the guys getting in touch with their inner “Paradise City” side for the full clip. From the black-and-white shots of the group as well as the huge crowd at the show to the Axl Rose and Slash attires, the viewer can see, and chuckle, at how the group decided to pay homage to one of the most iconic rock bands around.

The music video for the new track was shot during the group’s appearance at Goldenvoice’s inaugural Arroyo Seco Weekend music festival in late June. Watch the music video for “Feels Like Summer” above.

“Feels Like Summer” is the first single off of Weezer’s upcoming new album. Though the album name has yet to be confirmed, the band teased last year that it would be given the moniker of The Black Album and would be a lot darker and gritty than The White Album.

While no official release date has been given for the group’s eleventh studio album, the band said back in March that the new album would be released in the summer of 2017. Sadly, the summer is almost over and all fans of the group have been given are several different versions of the same song.

In support of the song, and its multiple releases, the group will be hitting the road once again this fall. Their upcoming tour schedule will pick up with their appearance at The Big Feastival in Oro-Medonte, Canada on Aug. 20 and wrap up Oct. 28 at the Wembley Arena in London. Listen: Weezer releases new summertime jam

After unleashing a 15-second snippet of their brand new song on Wednesday, Weezer has officially released the full version of the track. On Thursday (March 16), the California-founded band released their first new song in a year, a tune titled “Feels Like Summer.” The alternative-poppy jam may not sound very much like a “Weezer track,” but it does make you yearn for the summer months when all you need to worry about is getting a massive sunburn and sand in your bathing suit as opposed to digging your way out of two inches of snow. Listen to “Feels Like Summer” above.

“Feels Like Summer” is the first single off of Weezer’s upcoming new album. Though the album name has yet to be confirmed, the band teased last year that it would be given the moniker of The Black Album and would be a lot darker and gritty than The White Album.

“I’m already well into thinking about the Black album, which’ll be coming out in a year,” explained Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo in an interview with Upset Magazine. “I’ve just got to go with what feels exciting in the moment and right now, I’m excited to do a black album but y’know that could change.”

He continues: “The next album is going to feel like an urban environment, night-time and gritty and hopefully a lot more modern sounds, synthesised sounds, samples maybe. I like to break away from the distorted power-chord thing but it’s hard ‘cos it works so well.”

While no official release date has been given for the group’s eleventh studio album, the band has confirmed that the record should be released some time during the summer of 2017. “Feels Like Summer” is the band’s first new song since the re-released The White Album in October in 2016. The re-issue feature two brand new songs including “I Love the USA.”

In addition to the new single, Weezer also unveiled a list of tour dates that will find them hitting the road during the spring months all the way into late fall. The 2017 tour schedule will kick off on Friday, March 17, at Brazos Hall in Austin, Texas for Crush Music’s showcase (Crush Management is the band’s management company). Their lengthy tour schedule will then warp on October 27 at London’s Wembley Arena.

Last week, the comedian Chris Hardwick announced the launch of this ID1OT Music Festival and Comic Conival. Weezer was confirmed as one of the many headliners of the music portion of the festival set to take place during the weekend of June 24-25 at the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, California. Girl Talk, Lord Huron, Crystal Castles, TV on the Radio, OK Go, Animal Collective, Car Seat Headrest, The Mowgli’s, Robert DeLong, Mothers, and Ron Gallo are also featured on the bill.
