Fall Out Boy give iconic ‘Ghostbusters’ song a face lift

Fall Out Boy have been a little quiet since their ‘Wintour is Coming’ tour wrapped a while back, but now, they’re back in action. On Thursday (June 23), the Chicago-based band released their contribution to the Ghostbusters soundtrack. The group joined forces with Missy Elliot to give the film’s iconic song a major face lift. Check out the Fall Out Boy/Missy Elliot version of “Ghostbusters (I’m Not Afraid)” below.

Fall Out Boy and Missy Elliot will be in good company on the upcoming soundtrack. Walk the Moon, 5 Seconds of Summer, Elle King, Wolf Alice, Pentatonix, Jeremih & G-Eazy will all contribute songs for the upcoming album. Pre-orders for the soundtrack are currently available on iTunes, Amazon, and Google Play. Those who pre-order the album ahead of time will get an instant download of this track. The Ghostbusters soundtrack is set to hit store on July 15, the same exact day the film is slated to hit theaters.

Fall Out Boy Become Dollar Bin Toys in “Irresistible”

A day after hinting at a new, toy store-centric music video, Fall Out Boy has now released the clip. On Tuesday (Jan. 5), the Chicago-based band released the music video for the remixed version of “Irresistible.” The new version of the song, which originally debuted last October and features Demi Lovato, was previously given a music video that starred internet sensation, Doug the Pug. The previous video followed Doug as he parodied several of Fall Out Boy’s past music videos, but none of the members, or Lovato, were featured in it.

This time, the band members, Lovato, and several guests are the primary stars. In a letter to fans, the band reveal that the inspiration for the video came from watching *NSYNC’s “It’s Gonna Be Me.” They thought about the former boy band’s music video and discovered that there is some kind of analog in the three-minute clip. “I was looking back at the video for ‘It’s Gonna Be Me’ — where they come to life as dolls – and we thought was there an analog to this story,” the letter explains. “Like somewhere in that same store was there a dollar bin full of toy that no one really wanted? That would band together like the misfit, off-brand little outsiders they were. The toys no one ever wanted come to life. Where would our band have fit in that story?”

Find out where exactly Fall Out Boy’s dollar bin toys would fit in that store below. Also keep a close eye out because you might find a couple of cameos (not including Lovato) in the clip.

“Remember in the 90’s that one boy band- the biggest of them all- *NSYNC was omnipresent. I think they could have made any throw away video and it would’ve worked because the songs were just that big. As an outsider looking in at the culture the *NSYNC videos often seemed artistic and cinematic- every thing I had loved about all those videos I had taped on VHS (years before DVR or YouTube was a thing). I was looking back at the video for “It’s Gonna Be Me” — where they come to life as dolls – and we thought was there an analog to this story? Like somewhere in that same store was there a dollar bin full of toy that no one really wanted? That would band together like the misfit, off-brand little outsiders they were. The toys no one ever wanted come to life. Where would our band have fit in that story? We called up Wayne Isham, the director who did the original video (as well as some of our other favorite Mötley Crüe and Metallica videos), and pitched ideas back and forth… before long we came with the treatment – and were lucky enough to get a few cameos from the original source wink emoticon as well as our partner in crime on the song, Demi Lovato.

I know you don’t have a VHS tape (probably, though there is something about all the screenshots and memes made from our videos that feels pretty close to a modern version of that VHS tape wink emoticon) to record this. But, I hope this video hits you in the same way – that you know we wanted to create something special for everyone that has ever loved an off-brand dollar bin toy, or has felt like one…

Believe it or not, we still believe in the magic of making these things – thank you for being a part of that with us.”

“Irresistible” is featured on Fall Out Boy’s 2014 release, American Beauty/ American Psycho. Late last year, they released a remixed version of the album featuring several rappers titled Make American Psycho Again. Instead of taking a break after their hectic 2014, the band will be hitting the road, once again, for their “Wintour” which will begin in late February. The complete list of tour dates can be seen here.

Watch Fall Out Boy Go “Motownphilly” on ‘Jimmy Kimmel’

Fall Out Boy and Boyz II Men?

If you’re confused at the moment don’t be. During a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel’s late night show, Jimmy Kimmel Live! both the Chicago-based band and the Philadelphia R&B vocal group hit the stage together all thanks to the late night program.

Over the past few Mondays, the late night show had been participating in something called “Monday Mashups.” The mashups would include two unlikely bands/artists coming together to perform a song. The catch? They’re names are the only thing that can tie them together. On Monday (Nov. 30), Fall Out Boy had revealed they would be performing with Boyz II Men on the show, but kept the rest quiet.

Turns out, the two groups participated in a cover of the Philly band’s hit song, “Mowtownphilly.” Check out the performance below.

Fall Out Boy recently released Make America Psycho Again, a remixed version of their recently released record, American Beauty/American Psycho. While there are currently no plans for a brand new album, the four-piece will be hitting the road in early 2016. Dates for the “WINTOUR” can be found here.

Listen to Fall Out Boy’s “The Kids Aren’t Alright” Remix

Fall Out Boy is back with another new song from their remix album, Make America Psycho Again. On Friday (Oct. 23), the Chicago-based band revealed they had recorded a new version of their recently released album, American Beauty/American Psycho. Instead of them being the sole artists on the songs, they revealed they enlisted rappers that they like to contribute.

With the announcement, they unveiled the first song off of the album; “Irresistible” featuring Atlanta trio, Migos. On Tuesday, the released a set of songs off the record. Taking to Zane Lowe’s Beats radio station, the band released “The Kids Aren’t Alright” featuring controversial rapper Azealia Banks as well as “Twin Skeleton’s (Hotel In NYC)” featuring Joey Bada$$.

Make American Psycho Again is scheduled to be released this Friday, Oct. 30 through DCD2/Island Records.

Fall Out Boy Announce ‘Make America Psycho Again’

What are you to do when you are about to embark on a brand new tour in a couple of months which will celebrate the one year anniversary of your recently released album? Simple, have the record remixed, and that’s exactly what Fall Out Boy is doing with American Beauty/American Psycho.

On Friday (Oct. 23), the Chicago band announced they would be releasing a remixed version of their latest album featuring some of their “favorite rappers.” “Got some of our favorite rappers to#MakeAmericaPsychoAgain new AB/AP remix album coming out 10/30,” the band wrote on Twitter.

The remixed record will feature all 11 tracks being remixed by various rappers including A$AP Ferg,  Juicy J, and former tourmate Wiz Khalifa. In addition to the announcement the band also released the first remixed song off of the record; “Irresistible.” Just last week, they released another redone version of the song featuring pop star Demi Lovato. This newer version finds the tempo of the song completely slowed down and Migos laying down some tracks. Listen to the song below and check out the track list for the album below.

1. “Irresistible” (feat. Migos)
2. “American Beauty/American Psycho” (feat. A$AP Ferg)
3. “Centuries” (feat. Juicy J)
4. “The Kids Aren’t Alright” (feat. Azealia Banks)
5. “Uma Thurman” (feat. Wiz Khalifa)
6. “Jet Pack Blues” (feat. Big K.R.I.T.)
7. “Novocaine” (feat. UZI)
8. “Fourth of July” (feat. OG Maco)
9. “Favorite Record” (feat. I LOVE MAKONNEN)
10. “Immortals” (feat. Black Thought)
11. “Twin Skeleton’s (Hotel In NYC)” (feat. Joey Bada$$)

This remixed album isn’t the first time Fall Out Boy has worked with rappers for their songs. For 2007’s Infinity on High, they got Jay-Z to do a spoken-word intro to “Thriller” and for 2013’s Save Rock and Roll, Big Sean was asked to come in and contribute to “The Mighty Fall.”

Make American Psycho Again will officially be released next Friday, Oct. 30, through DCD2/Island Record. Pre-orders are currently available on all digital media platforms.

Stream Fall Out Boy’s ‘Jungle Book’ Cover

Last month, Fall Out Boy announced that they would be contributing a song to a Disney covers album titled We Love Disney. The Chicago guys confirmed that the song they would be covering would be
“I Wan’na Be Like You (The Monkey Song)” from The Jungle Book. In an interview, bassist Pete Wentz had said something to the effect that it was one of his (or their) favorite movies. We wouldn’t be too surprised if it was Wentz’s favorite since, you know, his first-born son’s middle name is Mowgli.

Today, the audio for the cover was released and it sounds really good. Several comments on YouTube keep pointing that this is proof that they can do “sunny” songs and even say that it’s got a Soul Punk (frontman Patrick Stump’s debut solo album) feel to it. Listen to the song below.

Fall Out Boy’s “I Wan’na Be Like You (The Monkey Song)” cover will be joined by other covers by other artists. Ne-Yo recently released his cover of “Friend Like Me” from Aladdin while earlier this week, British singer Jessie J released her cover of “Part of Your World” from The Little Mermaid. We Love Disney is scheduled to be released next Friday, Oct. 30. Pre-orders for the record are currently available on iTunes and on “We Love Disney’s” website.

Watch Doug the Pug Parody Fall Out Boy Videos in “Irresistible”

Hot off of announcing their 2016 “WINTOUR,” Fall Out Boy have returned with their promised new version of “Irresistible.” The Chicago band had revealed earlier this week that they had enlisted pop star Demi Lovato to help add “something exciting, strange, beyond” to the track. Throughout the newly redone song, Lovato and frontman Patrick Stump take turns singing certain parts of the track while coming together for a duet during the chorus and some selected parts of the verses.

In addition to the audio, the band also released a music video for the track. The music video features internet sensation, Doug the Pug, recreating several of Fall Out Boy’s past music video such as “Sugar, We’re Going Down,” “Dance, Dance,” “Centuries,” and yes, even “Irresistible.”

Check out the music video as well as the song, below.

Fall Out Boy will be heading out on their “WINTOUR” tour early next year.  The tour which will feature support from AWOLNATION and PVRIS will officially kick off on Feb. 26 at the Seminole Hard Rock Live Arena in Hollywood, FL (our stomping grounds) and wrap up a month later on March 26 at the Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre in Irvine, CA. Before their show in Florida, Fall Out Boy will perform in San Juan, PR at the Coliseo De Puerto Rico.

While the tour dates might be enough to hold fans over until their stop in 2016, the four-piece also revealed that they will be releasing a new version of their latest single “Irresistible” on Friday. The new version will feature vocals from pop star Demi Lovato. In a post on Twitter, the band writes about Lovato, “‘Irresistible’ always felt like it could become something else. Something exciting, strange, beyond. [Demi] has one of the most powerful voices today. We worked on ‘Irresistible’ together and she got it.”
