After breaking the news to fans that their new album will no longer see a fall 2017 release date, Fall Out Boy has decided to pay their fans back for their patience by unveiling another new song from the record. On Thursday (Sept. 14), the Chicago-founded band unleashed the music video for their new single, “The Last of the Real Ones.” The almost-four-minute clip begins with a red Ford Mustang pulling onto a dark, deserted dirt road with only the headlights illuminating the area. From the vehicle emerge two llamas (not real llamas) as they make their way to an undisclosed area nearby.
As the camera shifts, the viewer watches as the llamas light a fire on the ground before turning around to walk back to the awaiting vehicle. As the llamas return to the car, they open the trunk to reveal Fall Out Boy bassist, Pete Wentz, bounded and gagged in the trunk. Things don’t end well for the musician as the llamas take a shovel and begin to beat him with it. Check out the music video for “The Last of the Real Ones” above.
Earlier this week, the band posted a cryptic, eight-second clip on social media which left fans scratching their head momentarily. The clip featured a white card with the word MANIA printed at the top and the line “I wonder if your therapist knows everything about me?” written in the middle. As it turns out, the line is a direct lyric from the at-the-time-not-confirmed new song.
“The Last of the Real Ones” will join “Young and Menace” and current single “Champion” on Fall Out boy’s upcoming new album, MANIA. Instead of being released this Friday (Sept. 15), MANIA will now be released on Jan. 19, 2018.
In addition to the new song, the bans also announced on Twitter the official launch of their Fall Out Boy Fund. The purpose of the fund is to help out their hometown of Chicago by giving back. When tickets for the group’s upcoming “MANIA Tour” went on sale in April, the four-piece revealed that $1 from every ticket sale would go towards their fund. According to their social media page, their first mission is to provide over 20,000 elementary school kids with food education.
