The Early November Reveal Big Plans For the New Year

The Early November are going to have a busy 2015.

On New Year’s Day, the New Jersey-based band posted on Facebook that they will be releasing a new album and would be heading out on tour sometime this year.

The touring should not come as a surprise since last year, it was confirmed they would be one of Motion City Soundtrack’s supporting acts on their “Commit This to Memory Tenth Anniversary” tour which is slated to begin later this month.

Plus, frontman Ace Enders has been keeping himself busy by hitting the road; his side project, I Can Make a Mess, just got off a short holiday tour with Anthony Green from Circa Survive, Dan Campbell from The Wonder Years, and Elder Brother.

The news of a new album comes over two years after the release of their last record, In Currents. In Currents was the band’s first new set of songs after reuniting following a lengthy hiatus; the band went on hiatus in 2007.

Aiden to Release New Album in the New Year

image

Good news Aiden fans, the band are getting back together. Well, kind of.

According to frontman Wil Francis (aka William Control), the band will be coming back to life (pun intended) after being quiet for several years while he went off to do several solo endeavors.

In a Facebook post uploaded earlier in the day, the singer revealed that the group will be putting out a new album in 2015 which might lead to them going out on tour this year. This confirmation should come as no surprise since on Dec. 30, after two years of silence “2015” was posted on their Facebook.

The only catch in the recently announced plan is that Francis will be the only original member still attached to the project.

In the post, after his personal reflection on the year that was 2014 and all the good that came from it which included tours and for some reason booty short, he begins to explain why each member left the group. (Long story short, playing in a band does not pay the bills.)

To read the full post, head on over to Aiden’s Facebook here, or you can read that portion of the post below.

“Lastly… Yes you heard that right. There will be an Aiden record and most likely a tour. Aiden has been on hiatus for a while now but it’s time for me to answer your requests.

Aiden was my life for a long time. We spent years on the road playing shows and releasing records, making friends and creating lasting memories. Towards the end it was clear that punk rock wasn’t going to pay the bills, which is why both Angel and Jake left the band initially. Nick stayed on for a while but after his whole t-shirt printing debacle and inadvertently scamming some of you out of money he’s decided that he couldn’t continue playing bass for Aiden.

I want you all to know that going forward I have a very reliable merch girl that will get whatever you order, to you, in a reasonable amount of time. If you paid nick some cash and still haven’t received anything, please contact him. Either his twitter or his instagram is the best method, as he does not have a phone to call. I’m sorry that he did this but it in no way reflects on the business of Aiden moving forward.

So the question begs an answer. As the only original member, would you still like to see Aiden come to your town and play these songs you love so much? I have a lot of love for this little punk band that gave me so many incredible experiences and would be honored to come play these songs for you one last time. It’s something to think about over the next few months. We can address that question again soon.”

Aiden’s last album was 2011’s Some Kind of Hate through Victory Records.

Set Your Goals Vocalist Updates Fans on Band’s Current Status

image

Earlier this week, Set Your Goals vocalist Matt Wilson revealed he had formed a new band named Chains. chains, like Wilson revealed, would be his outlet for songs he had written that did not have the Set Your Goals sound.

Apparently, their fans were not happy with his new project announcement.

According to Wilson, fans had taken to the web to flood him with angry messages demanding an update on the band and whether or not they have officially split up.

In order to inform those angry fans about the status of the band, Wilson posted a lengthy update on their Facebook page, giving them a little bit of insight on what each individual member has been up to.

“On a related note, I’ve gotten a ton of angry messages asking for an answer on the status of the band. The truth is, we just don’t know the future for certain and don’t want to get people’s hopes up or give any information that could end up being untrue. As a band, we are laying low for a while and busy individually with our adult lives. We haven’t “broken up” per se, we’re just focusing on other things for the time being. Here’s what we’ve been up to:

-Dan got married and will be moving to Atlanta, GA, next month.

-Joe recently moved to Portland, OR, and plays in a band called Great Collapse

-Jordan returned to school and is pursuing film. He still needs another surgery before he can resume full use of his Achilles’ tendons again, as far as I know.

-Mike started ambrosewoodworks.com and builds high end tables, and plays in U.S. Light Brigade and What’s Eating Gilbert.

-Audelio had a daughter named Olivia, works for Glad Rags, and plays with What’s Eating Gilbert.

-I run a record label called Calaveras Records and started a band called Chains. I also work for Snoop Dogg doing tour merchandising and production.

Hope that answers some of your questions.

-Matt”

Well Matt, we hope that answers their questions as well.

Bono Apologizes for ‘Song of Innocence’ Stunt

u2

While everyone who has iTunes was complaining about the fact that U2’s new album was “forced” onto them, Bono and the rest of the guys from U2 were laughing their way to the bank.

We also can’t forget all the freak outs people were having as they tried to delete the album from their iTunes. Remember Fall Out Boy’s skit on Jimmy Kimmel?

A month or so after the iPhone 6 reveal announcement and the day Songs of Innocence was inserted onto 500 million desktops and iPhones, Bono is kind of apologizing for the stunt that might have just backfired.

In an interview with fans on the Irish band’s Facebook page, the frontman was asked about the album’s release. The person wrote, “Can you please never release an album on iTunes that automatically downloads to people’s playlists ever again? It’s really rude.”

Funny, we were going to say the same about you and your “question.”

Bono seemed a little somber as he responded to Captain Rude Pants’ question.

“Oops…I’m sorry about that. I had this beautiful idea…might have gotten carried away with ourselves. Artists are prone to that thing. A drop of megalomania, a touch of generosity, a dash of self-promotion, and deep fear that these songs that we poured our life into over the last few years might not be heard. there’s a lot of noise out there. I guess, we got a little noisy ourselves to get through it.”

Then again, we’re sure if Beyoncé was to do the same thing, the vast majority of the world would claim that it was “innovative,” “fresh,” and continue to claim that “she’s the queen.” Whatever.

Spinnerette Vocalist Speaks Out Against Accused “Girl/Body Shaming”

image

Feminism has become the buzzword of 2014 with many women and some men alike trying to explain to a close-minded world what the real meaning behind feminism. And no, it’s not a bunch of women proclaiming that men are scum and useless.

From Beyoncé’s performance at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards to Emma Watson and her new campaign for equality for all, #HeForShe, it’s all about getting equality no matter your sex.

But, no matter how hard you try to educate people on the meaning of the word or to try to teach others not to “slut-shame” or talk negative about each other (“girl-bashing”), there will always be one person who will try to accuse those doing the teaching of being hypocrites.

Brody Dalle formerly of the Distillers and Spinnerette had to put someone in their place after they accused the singer of “slut-shaming” Jennifer Lopez and Iggy Azalea for tweets she wrote about her impression of the duo’s music video for “Booty.”

On Twitter, Dalle simply wrote the following about the “booty-centric” music video by the two Top 20 radio staples.

Of course, not everyone agreed withDalle’s observation on the music video and accused her of “girl-bashing” and “slut-shaming.”

Instead of letting it slide, Dalle responded to the Twitter user by publishing a lengthy response asking the user “How are the lyrics ‘Give him what he asks for’ empowering to women? How? How is spreading your bottom apart and singing ‘Give him what he asks for’ empowering at all?'”

Read the full essay here and believe us, it’s lengthy, but well worth it.

“From : Kayla @KaylaElaine87
@BrodyDalle well done. Your rants have inspired lots of girl hate and slut and body shaming.

@BrodyDalle plus don’t you love Wendy O? Why is it ok for her to objectify herself but not the others? PS I love you, I just think yur wrong

Dear Kayla,

Slut shaming? Body shaming? Girl hating? Please don’t assign incorrect motives to my tweets. It is you who is implying they are “sluts”, not me. The definition for slut is “a woman who has many casual partners”. Since when did being scantily clad come to mean having many casual partners?

I don’t like the word slut, I don’t use the word slut, that word is not in my vernacular. If a woman has many casual partners, it is none of my business. I have absolutely no problem with what women do with their bodies in their private lives. Women should feel free as men do to sleep with whomever they want to as long as it’s consensual and with out being labeled a slut. That would be equality. (A girl can dream). The trendy term “slut shaming” is inadvertently calling scantily dressed women “sluts”. We should all stop using it.

My problem with this song and the video is the conflicting message it’s sending to our impressionable young girls and boys.

How are the lyrics “give him what he asks for “ empowering to women? How? How is spreading your bottom apart and singing “give him what he asks for ” empowering at all?

JLo and Iggy may feel empowered by their bodies and that’s fine, their bodies ARE powerful, beautiful and life giving. But they are so much more than just their bodies. They may feel that using their bodies is the only currency they have in order to stay popular and on the top. It has become a contest of who gets the most hits on youtube and vevo and who can take it the furthest, not about the quality of their songs and the messages they are sending. And why? To make lots of money and to line the pockets of the big machines, regardless of who that affects.

I want my daughter to grow up knowing that she is more than just the sum of her “body parts”. I want her to feel valued for her brains before her body.

I want my son to grow up respecting women on all levels. Especially their brains, opinions and ideas. I don’t want my son to see women as walking butts and tits, but to see women as equal humans.

This is a conflicting and confusing time in culture. I think about these things a lot. I worry for future generations about where we are headed as a society. There is so much to discuss and talk about and I invite the conversation because it is an important one.

There are many cans to be opened and not everyone likes worms. We have yet to define the parameters and boundaries and it’s hard to do so but we should all feel free to speak up with out feeling like we are going to be attacked, condemned, called crazy, told we are slut shaming, body shaming or girl hating for our opinions.

This notion that I can’t have an opinion or disagree with what someone is doing or saying is ludicrous. Especially when I feel it could impact women, men and children in a negative way. I am far from perfect and I have made many mistakes trying to find my way – but I will continue to stand up for what I believe in and to make this world a better place for all children, women and men.

And Kayla, if you want to twerk your life away naked on a website, feel free, it’s your life. But just know I might think you could do so much more……and that’s okay, right ?

Sincerely,
Brody Dalle

p.s – Wendy O was destroying female stereotypes in a time when it really fucking mattered, when it was probably scary for her to do so. She was brave, strong and unapologetic. I respect her very much.”

Linkin Park Release “Until It’s Gone” Video

image

With Linkin Park’s new album on the cusp of being released, it comes as no surprise that the band have already debuted several tracks from the new album to their fans.

As of now, “Guilty All the Same,” “Wastelands,” “Rebellion,” “Final Masquerade” have already debuted, and today, the band released the music video for the newest addition to that list, the video for “Until It’s Gone.”
Unlike many artists, the band have decided to forgo premiering the video on YouTube and Vevo and decided to give it straight to the fans through their Facebook page.

As Mashable pointed out, this mode of releasing videos has been catching on with Ed Sheeran doing the same for his “Sing” video, Jay-Z with “Holy Grail,” Bruno Mars with “Gorilla” and Mariah Carey with her new track, “The Art of Letting Go.”

“The visuals have an aggressive edge to it that is the representation of the band as The Hunting Party,” Linkin Park’s Joe Hahn describe the music video to Mashable during an interview.

“We are the same guys you always knew but, a little older, weathered and experienced. The video has an undertone of the world is going to shit. There is black ooze that crystallizes the world. It is an infection. The black ooze is representing other music out there. We are merely here to fill in that sliver with the music that we bring. I guess you can say that we are filling a void.”

Watch the video below.

Don’t forget Linkin Park will be heading out on their “Carnivores Tour” with 30 Seconds to Mars and AFI in August while The Hunting Party hits stores next Tuesday (June 17). Hope we see you there.

Echo and the Bunnymen to Release New Album, Go on World Tour

echoandthebunnymen

Fans of Echo and the Bunnymen, it looks like some really good news is on the horizon for your little black hearts.

The band have taken to their Facebook page to announce that they will be releasing a new album, soon. The date and other information, at the time, are unknown, but by the countdown that they have going on the social media account, more information should be coming our way in T-minus six days. For all purposes, the album is still-untitled, but frontman Ian McCulloch has previously referred to it as The Garden of Meedin.’

When asked about the new material in an interview last May, McCulloch said, “It’s the band’s best work for a very long time. [It’s] more like the early stuff with loads of spiky guitars and space.”

“The idea is to make the greatest album we’ve ever made. I always go into things thinking that anyway. I’ve spent the last 10 years trying to see where I could go with my voice and if I could write some bridges. Then I looked back and realised we never had any bridges.”

The last album that the Liverpool-based group released was 2009′s The Fountain. In support of the new album, the band have also announced that they would be going on a world tour. Dates, like much of the album’s information, are still unknown, but according to NME, the European dates are already a done deal and are currently int he process of booking the North American dates.

Atreyu to Reunited for ‘The Curse’ Ten Year Anniversary?

atreyu2

Could an Atreyu reunion be on the horizon?

Things are beginning to look that way after a picture featuring the members of the band was uploaded to their Facebook page, yesterday. There was no caption for the picture, just the image of the line-up at what looks like a restaurant, hanging out.

Coincidentally, this year will mark the tenth anniversary of Atreyu’s hit album, 2004’s The Curse which is probably a staple for anyone who was a teenager in that time frame (we were).

This year will also mark almost three years since they decided to go on a hiatus, so of course fans of the hard rock band would be starting to look for connections between the picture post and the anniversary of the album.

The new post also comes as further evidence that the band had been working on something because their previous post was dated May 11, 2013 in which they asked fans to repost a message “if you want Atreyu to write a new song for your ears to bleed to.”

But sadly, at the current moment there has been no confirmation or denial on whether a ten-year anniversary tour will be in the works or if they had taken to the studio during the last three years to put out a surprise album sometime this year. Time will only tell and we are hoping that we will be able to see them perform “Right Side of the Bed” or “Ex’s and Oh’s,” soon.
