Weezer Frontman Tries Online Dating in “Go Away”

image

How long has it been since we’ve heard anything from Weezer? We’re not counting the news that the comedy series based on frontman Rivers Cuomo’s life was not picked up.

Well, it does matter because the band has returned with the music video for “Go Away.”

In a nod to this generation’s way of finding dates, the video finds Cuomo trying his best to get Best Coast’s Bethany Cosentino to swipe right on the dating app, Winder (yes, we all know it’s a cover-up for Tinder).

Instead of being his true self, Cuomo ends up putting on different disguising hoping one of them will get Cosentino to give him the time of day. Disguises include a punk rocker who eats food out of a garbage can, a “business” man showing off his “riches,” a hipster in a record store who ends up finding Weezer’s blue album on vinyl, and many more.

As we see, Cosentino and her friend spend the video laughing at all the crazy antics that this dude is pulling just to get her to say yes to a date.

Not surprisingly, none of the disguises end up working in Cuomo’s favor and he just about gives up until one of this bandmates comes up with the idea of him just being himself.

Check out the music video for “Go Away” below.

“Go Away” is featured on Weezer’s recently released album Everything Will Be Alright in the End which was released last October.

Weezer Scalper Gets Put in Their Place by Venue

weezer

We all know that scalpers are the scum of the universe, just look at all the times we’ve written about scalpers especially when it has to do with bands that never tour like Brand New.

Unlike Brand New who haven’t released a new album in year, Weezer and their fans have become one of the newest victims of scalpers trying to shakedown their wallets.

In conjunction with the release of Everything Will Be Alright in the End, which was finally released today (Oct. 7), the band decided to go on a few intimate shows around the country where they would perform the new album in full.

Considering how rare it is for a band as big as Weezer to be performing in tiny venues, tickets for those shows sold out in under an hour. Understandable.

Insert one of the candidates for the “terrible person of the day” award.

This one person saw the chance to up the price of their previously purchased tickets to four times the face price and then sell it to unsuspecting Weezer fans. According to the Craigslist ad which can be seen below, he would be selling one ticket to the sold out show at The Sinclair in Harvard Square in Massachusetts for $250. If anyone wanted the pair, it would cost a steep $500.

Not understandable.

image

Of course, fans of Weezer saw this ad and took to social media to express their disgust that someone would actually decided to do that.

image

Then, came the bast part of it all. Real justice.

The venue caught wind of the story and went on to investigate this Craigslist ad and found out what shady business deal was going on

Instead of explaining what the venue did to this person and their attempt to make money, read the tweets below and watch as justice is served.

Burn. I hope that guy can afford some ice for that burn.

When asked about the venues decision to do this, Josh Bhatti, who runs The Sinclair, said the following, “This person was gratuitously trying to scalp and we viewed it as a violation. Tickets are essentially a revocable license and this person was clearly violating the terms set forth in that agreement.

Weezer Perform “Go Away” with Bethany Cosentino

weezer

During one of their many “Weezer Wednesdays” videos, Weezer released a track titled, “Go Away” which featured vocals by Best Coast’s Bethany Cosentino.

While visiting KROQ on Friday to perform some of their tracks at the radio station’s RedBull Soundspace, Weezer was joined by Cosentino for a stripped down version of their song.

Watch the acoustic version of the track below.

Weezer’s new album, Everything Will Be Alright in the End is set to be released this Wednesday, Oct. 7 and will of course, feature the song with Cosentino. The album which so far has been garnering good reviews, was produced by The Cars’ Ric Ocasek who also produced several of their other albums. Everything Will Be Alright in the End is the band’s first new album since 2010’s Hurley.

In support of EWBAIT, Weezer will be hitting the road for some intimate tour stops. Along the trek, they will also visit some festivals. Tour dates can be seen here.

Weezer Release “Lonely Girl”

weezer

This weeks seems to be the week in which Weezer releases a lot of good news in support of their upcoming new album.

It all began with a new song titled, “The British Are Coming” and ended with some intimate tour dates being unveiled with the confirmation the new album will be performed in full on certain dates.

Though it’s not Wednesday, luckily, the band didn’t care and have released another new song from Everything Will Be Alright in the End.

The new song is titled “Lonely” and has now become the fourth “single” from the upcoming record.
Like we’ve said before, we aren’t sure if any new songs will remain secret until the album is released with all the reveals they have done over the past few months.

The band have promised that the EWBAITE updates on YouTube will soon be ending, but we’re not sure if that’s because they’re running out of track or because the album’s release date is right around the corner.

No matter, listen to “Lonely Girl” below.

Everything Will Be Alright in the End will be released on Oct. 7 through Republic Records. Tour dates for the upcoming “intimate'” tour stops and some festival dates can be viewed below.

‘Everything Will Be Alright,’ Weezer are Going on Tour

weezer

It might not be Wednesday, but Weezer have revealed some good news for fans wanting them to go out on tour; a small club tour is on the horizon (intertwined with some festival stops).

The band who will be releasing their ninth studio album next month, revealed the news of the small club tour as well as a new song titled, “The British are Coming.”

But, that’s not where all the good news end. If you are one of the people who have been enjoying all the songs that have been released so far from Everything Will Be Alright in the End, then expect to love the set list for the tour. Weezer have confirmed that they will be performing EWBAITE, in full during the tour stops.

As of now, Weezer have already released several songs from the upcoming record making us wonder if any songs will remain before the record comes out, officially, on Oct. 7.

Tracks that have been released to date for “Weezer Wednesdays” include, lead single “Back to the Shack,” “Eulogy for a Rock Band,” “I’ve Had it Up to Here,” “Go Away” featuring Best Coast’s Bethany Consentino, “Cleopatra,” and now, “The British are Coming.”

Check out the upcoming tour dates.

“Cleopatra” Does Not Control Weezer in New Song

weezer

It may not be Wednesday, but Weezer have given fans a treat in the form of a new song.

The band have exclusively premiered one of their new songs, “Cleopatra” on Alternative Press today. The new song was featured in one of their Weezer Wednesday clips (clip 21 to be exact) and now it can be heard in its entirety here.

When speaking to the magazine for their cover story, drummer Pat Wilson revealed that the new album, Everything Will Be Alright in the End will be more like 1996’s Pinkerton and the Blue Album as opposed to any of their other records.

Everything Will Be Alright in the End is set to be released on Oct. 7 after an unfortunate, and yet to be revealed, reason forced the band to push the release date of the highly anticipated record a week. Pre-orders of the album will be available on iTunes beginning at midnight and with that pre-order, fans will be able to receive and instant download of “Cleopatra.”

When Weezer revealed the news of the album being pushed back, they promised fans who pre-ordered their eight studio album on PledgeMuisc.com that they would receive a “grat track” on Sept. 23.

Weezer’s Upcoming New Album Pushed Back a Week, Reveal Track List

image

Weezer had fans excited for the release of their new album, produced once again by the Cars’ Ric Ocasek, but it turns out, the band have had to push back the release date of their tenth studio album; just a slight bump in the road.

In a post yesterday, which should have been another teaser as part of their “Weezer Wednesday” promotions, the band had to break that news that Everything Will Be Alright in the End would be released on October 7 rather than the original release date of September 30.

“We have to release EWBAITE one week later than planned, on Oct. 7” the band wrote on Facebook and their Tumblr. “This is a bummer and we really hate to make our fans wait longer. We worked very hard to finish the album on time for you, so we’re really sorry about this and hope you understand.”

Though it might have been something out of their control, one thing the band assured fans was that the recording sessions for the album were finished and better than that, the recording sessions were finished on time. This is the main reason we would like to believe that the prolonged wait was out of their control.

As a way to tide fans over for those extra seven days, the band promised fans who had already pre-ordered the record through PledgeMusic.com that they will receive a new track from Everything Will Be Alright in the End on September 30 and they also unveiled the complete track list for EWBAITE. Check that out below.

EVERYTHING WILL BE ALRIGHT IN THE END TRACK LIST:

1. “Ain’t Got Nobody”

2. “Back to the Shack”

3. “Eulogy for a Rock Band”

4. “Lonely Girl”

5. “I’ve Had It Up to Here”

6. “The British are Coming”

7. “Da Vinci”

8. “Go Away”

9. “Cleopatra”

10. “Foolish Father”

11. “The Futurescope Trilogy”

a. “The Wasteland”

b. “Anonymous”

c. “Return to Ithaca”

Not a bad consolation prize. We guess everything will really be alright in the end (like you didn’t expect that pun to happen).

Weezer Have “Had It Up To Here”

weezer

Weezer Watch has been a little quiet over the last few weeks, after it was revealed that their new album, Everything Will Be Alright in the End will be out on September 30 through Republic Records.

Today, frontman Rivers Cuomo posted on Twitter a link to a YouTube video which offers fans a teaser for a new song titled, “I’ve Had It Up To Here.” As of now, the band have given teasers for several songs including “My Mystery,” “Return to Ithaca” and of course lead single, “Back to the Shack.”

Check out the teaser for the song which also happens to be the 14th update that the band have posted on behalf of their tenth studio album.

Everything Will Be Alright in the End was produced by The Cars’ Ric Ocasek who has had a pretty good history with Weezer. Ocasek, previously, produced the band’s Blue and Green Albums.

For those wanting to pre-order the album instead of waiting to get it in September can currently do so over at PledgeMusic.

‘Everything Will Be Alright in the End’ of September for Weezer

weezercoverart

After months of cryptic videos and teasers for their upcoming new album, Weezer have finally taken pity on their excited fanbase and revealed the official release date for the album.

Last week, a snippet of “My Mystery,” one of their new songs from the upcoming record had been released as well as the covert art, while last month we got the title of the group’s ninth studio album, Everything Will Be Alright in the End.

This past Wednesday as part of their “Weezer Wednesday” incentive, the official release date had been unveiled. For months, we had been reporting that the album was slated to come out either by the end of this year or the beginning of 2015. Apparently, we were wrong because the release date is closer than we thought (or had been given).

Turns out, Everything Will Be Alright in the End will hit shelves on September 30 through Republic Records. (We told you it was close).

Thanks Weezer.

Weezer Unveil “My Mystery” Clip

weezer

Weezer have released another clip, the second teaser this week from the group to excited fans. This new clip features a brand new track titled “My Mystery.”

Judging by their previous clips, this new song will no doubt be featured on the group’s upcoming new album, Everything Will Be Alright in the End. Including this new clip, Weezer have officially release eleven clips, all in promotion (or teasing) for the upcoming record.

Watch the creepy black and white video.

Earlier this week, the band revealed to fans the cover art for the record, which has yet to be given a release date. The art was revealed to be done by Chris McMahon who is known for taking thrift shop landscape painting and adding some creative monsters to them.

Like always, there is still no indication as to when the follow-up to 2010’s Hurley is slated to be released. Maybe one of these teaser clips will do us the honor and reveal that soon.
