A lot of rumors have been surfacing that things are not roses over at Lady Gaga’s camp.
First there’s the rumor that her record label, Interscope Records lost millions with her new albums. Now there’s talk about the reasons as to why her new music video for her current single, “Do What U Want” is taking longer than expected to be made.
Taking to a fan chat last night, Mother Monster hit those rumors head on and in a way threw shade at some of the people responsible for some of the grievances with the new album and other things. One of her punching bag, though they were not names specifically was her former management.
Though ARTPOP was successful, selling about 258,000 copies in its first week, it did not do the stellar sale that Born This Way did back when it was released; BTW sold about 1.1 million in the same time frame. Back when the album was released an article was published, claiming that Interscope lost a reported $25 million on the campaign for the album resulting in employee lay-offs.
But that’s not the only issue that has raised some eyes brows. Back in November, it was revealed that the video for “Do What U Want” would be released in a month’s time from that confirmation. Here we are in 2014, and still no video has been released. During the fan chat, Gaga released the following statement about why the video is taking so long.
“[The “Do What U Want” video] is late because, just like with the “Applause” video unfortunately, I was given a week to plan and execute it… All my most successful videos were planned over a period of time when I was rested and my creativity was honored.
Those who have betrayed me gravely mismanaged my time and health and left me on my own to damage control any problems that ensued as a result. Millions of dollars are not enough for some people. They want billions. Then they need trillions. I was not enough for some people. They wanted more…
The next few months of ARTPOP will truly be its beginning. Because those who did not care about ARTPOP‘s success are now gone, and the dreams I have been planning can now come to fruition.
Please forgive me that I did not foresee this coming, I never thought after all the years of hard work that those I called friends and partners would ever care so little at a time I needed them the most…”
She ended her message by asking her fans to forgive her and “be for you the Goddess that I know I truly am.” And as for the rumor about the Interscope slump and investment, she tied that up nicely by saying. “there is no truth to many of your comments, including the 25 million dollar deficit. These are rumors that are being repeated and spread.”
