The Strokes, Robyn, Wu-Tang Clan to headline III Points 2020

III_points_2020_header

Come for the sun and sand and stay for the….eclectic music festival?

Well, when Will Smith said, “Welcome to Miami,” he was definitely onto something.

On Tuesday (Jan. 21), the lineup for the 2020 incarnation of Miami’s III Points Music Festival was unleashed, and to say that the headliners are surprising would be an understatement.

Headlining this year’s event will be the Strokes (they know South Florida exists?), Robyn, Wu-Tang Clan, and Disclosure.

Both the Strokes and Robyn will make their III Points debut this year. For The Strokes, this is their long-awaited return to the Magic City; the group’s last appearance was in 2002.

Joining the Strokes, Robyn, Wu-Tang Clan, and Disclosure will be Kaytranada, Caribou, Amon Tobin Presents Two Fingers, Chris Lake, Stereolab, Tycho and Green Velvet, and more.

Bringing in some local Miami flavor to the otherwise “worldly” lineup will be Jaialai, Donzii, Thunderpony, Las Nubes, Haute Tension, Butterfly Snapple, Ghostflower and Palomino Blond.

At the end of the two-day event, over 90 performers would have taken over the music festival’s many stages/locations.

III Points will return to its longtime home of Miami’s Wynwood Arts District during the weekend of May 1-2. Tickets for the event go on sale this Friday, Jan. 24, at 10 a.m. ET. Two-day passes start at $99, while VIP admission will run you $249 for both days.

Usually thrown in February, this year’s event was postponed a couple of months due to Super Bowl LIV taking over South Florida during that time frame. Let’s just say, Miamians like to party, but Super Bowl LIV + III Points may have been a little too much.

Coachella 2016 Lineup Unveiled

image

It’s official, the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival has unveiled its lineup for 2016. After what felt like weeks of rumors, festival organizers finally confirmed that Guns ‘N’ Roses will in fact be one of the headliners for the spring festival. Last week, the rumors of GNR’s role at the upcoming festival hit an all time high when sources confirmed to Billboard that not only were GNR planning a return with a massive stadium tour, but they would be headlining Coachella.

On Monday evening (Jan. 4), Coachella organizers posted the complete lineup for the two weekend-long festival. In addition to GNR’s reunion, LCD Soundsystem has also been confirmed as a headliner. Talk of LCD Soundsystem’s involvement, much like Guns ‘N’ Roses’, began as numerous rumors on the internet before it became official. Now, after a five-year hiatus, the James Murphy-led group will be returning to the stage. But, Guns ‘N’ Roses and LCD Soundsystem aren’t the only ones making a return at the show.

Coachella 2016 will mark the first time in two years that French electo-act M83 will perform live on a stage while pop star Sia’s  appearance at the music festival will mark the first time in five years that she has performed on a live stage in the United States. Other acts slated to perform at Coachella include: Disclosure, CHVRCHES, Hasley, Grimes, Silversun Pickups, The 1975, Rancid, The Front Bottoms, Of Monsters and Men, Purity Ring, Robert DeLong, Zella Day, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes, Matt and Kim, Cold War Kids, Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats, and many more. Check out the official poster below.

Coachella 2016 will once again return to the Empire Polo Grounds in Indio, CA. The festival will take place during the course two weekends in April; April 15-17 and April 22-24. Festival passes will go on sale beginning this Wednesday, Jan. 6, at 11 a.m., PST. According to Coachella’s official website, general admission passes for the first weekend are already sold out, following their early bird sale last summer. iHeartRadio Music Festival Announce 2015 Line-Up

Months after announcing the return of their annual music festival, iHeartMedia has now revealed the identity of those performers who will be heading to Las Vegas in September for the iHeartRadio Music Festival.

Fall Out Boy, The Killers, Duran Duran, Disclosure, Coldplay, and The Who are just some of the big names who will be taking the stage at the fifth annual iHeartRadio Music Festival.

The 2015 line-up will also include Sam Smith, Janet Jackson, The Weeknd, David Guetta, Kenny Chesney, Prince Royce, Diplo, Jason Derulo, Kanye West, Lil Wayne, and Blake Shelton. This year’s line-up seems to give every music taste a little bit of something to look forward to.

The festival will take place during the weekend of Sept. 18-19 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. Ryan Seacrest will, once again, host the event.

Tickets for the general public will go on sale beginning this Saturday, Aug. 1.

For those who won’t be able to make it to Vegas, there’s no need to worry. The festival will be live streamed on Yahoo! and iHeartMedia’s plethora of radio stations. Like last year, the festival will air as a two-day special on The CW Network on Sept. 29-30; a week or so after the live event.

Previously announced artists for that include Demi Lovato, Hozier, Tove Lo, Trey Songz, Walk the Moon, Nick Jonas, Big Sean, Lee Brice, Echosmith and James Bay.

If Austin City Limits Music Festival was trying to keep their 2015 line-up a secret, then maybe they need to have a little conversation with their website person about letting the secret out of the bag two days before the official announcement was set to happen.

Last night (May 3), the line-up for both weekends of the music festival was leaked online, with the website’s link circulating the interweb. Quickly after the “mistake,” the post was taken down and now an “Oops, we’re not finding the page you’re looking for” message is appearing, but not before people took to the internet to spread the word and of course screen cap the information.

Sucks for them and their surprise, great for the people who were on the fence about going.

Weekend one will feature performances from: the Foo Fighters, The Strokes, Drake, The Weeknd, Disclosure, Tame Impala, Alabama Shakes, Alt-J, The Decemberists, Chance the Rapper, ASAP Rocky, Billy Idol, Run the Jewels, TV on the Radio, Brandon Flowers, Brand New, Father John Misty, Kurt Vile and the Violators, Gary Clark Jr., Royal Blood, Jose Gonzalez, and Daughter, along with deadmau5, Bassnectar, Hozier, and Of Monsters and Men.

Weekend two will have an almost exact line up except with a few changes. Instead of The Strokes, Modest Mouse will take their place and Florence and the Machine were added to the already packed line-up.

Check out the full (leaked) line-up below.

ACL 2015 weekend one will take place during Oct. 2-4 while weekend two will take place during the weekend of Oct. 9-11 at Zilker Park in Austin.

Fourth Annual Governors Ball Schedule Released

image

Houston, we have major problems and it looks like whoever the people were who planned the schedule for this year’s Governors Ball is to blame.

The Governors Ball, which already revealed it’s long list of high-profiled artists including Phoenix, Vampire Weekend, Jack White, Skirllex, Foster the People, Discloure and many more have just unveiled its schedule and there may be a lot of conflicting acts that the audience would like to see.

Outkast and Damon Albarn will be closing out the night so that is probably the big issue on the first day. Honorable mentions include TV on the Radio or Grimes; Neko Case or La Roux; and Julian Casablancas or Jenny Lewis.
Saturday, the issues continue with audience member needing to pick between Jack White and Skrillex. (we’re bias, we’d go with Jack White especially since he follows The Strokes; their first festival show in three years and they never go out on tour or anything). Sadly, The Strokes will be  up against Childish Gambino. Honorable mentions for Saturday include Spoon or Sleigh Bells; Disclousre or Broken Bells; and Defheaven of Tanlines.

As for Sunday, there doesn’t seem to be any big conflicts except for Tyler, the Creator playing against AlunaGeorge and Banks playing opposite Wild Belle. No big since you will be able to see Vampire Weekend close out the entire weekend-long fest.

The schedule is currently not up until Friday on the official website for the festival, but you can go ahead and find over at the festival’s mobile app or Clashfinder

The Governors Ball is set to take place during the weened of June 6-8 at randall’s Island Park in New York City. Tickets are still available if you feel like taking a spontaneou trip to NYC and go to a festival.
