The Killers Release Video for ‘Just Another Girl”

killers

When The Killers released their greatest hits compilation, drummer Ronnie Vannucci had said that they band could have probably gone another ten years before they would make one, but things were not completely in their favor.

Instead of making the compilation, Direct Hits purely their greatest hits and single, the band decided to out in two new tracks into the album. A month or so ago, the band has released the video for one of the two tracks, “Shot at the Night” which had been produced by M83’s head honcho, Anthony Gonzalez.

The second new track, “Just Another Girl” has now gotten the music video treatment and for Gleeks, you might just see a familiar face in the music video; Dianna Agron!

In the video, the 27-year-old actress impersonates frontman, Brandon Flowers and his ensemble from the band’s previous music videos including “All These Things That I Have Done” and “When You Were Young.”

After the video premiered, officially yesterday, the actress tweeted, “Thanks for the trends you set for the video release!! Happy to hear all of the enthusiasm & support. They’re one of my favorite bands. Xx.”

Check out the video below and see if Agron does a pretty good job as playing Flowers.

With just a week until their greatest hots compilation, Direct Hits! makes it to stores, The Killers have released the music video for their second new song to be featured on the record.

The song, “Just Another Girl” is the second of two new songs that they had added to the greatest hits album, which like it says consists of selected hit songs from throughout their career. “Just Another Girl” plays up what happens in the aftermath of a break up with lines such as “All of my friends say/I should move on/All of my friends say/She’s just another girl/Then why can’t I sleep at night?/And why don’t the moon look right?”

Deep. Very deep.

The new track was produced by Stuart Price who has been associated with the band for a long time. Price remixed early singles like “Mr. Brightside” and went on to produced their third album, 2008′s Day & Age.

The band announced a few months ago that they would be releasing the compilation record in celebration of the tenth anniversary of them being a band. Last month, they debuted, “Shot at the Night” which was produced by M83 mastermind, Anthony Gonzalez; this song marked the second time that The Killers and the music man collaborated on a track.

Just a few weeks back, Calvin Harris contribution to the record, a remixed version of “When You Were Young” from Sam’s Town, the band’s sophomore album.

For now, you can head on over to VH1 (yes apparently they still play music) and listen to the new track there.

Calvin Harris Takes on The Killers

The Killers just finished releasing the music video for their new song, “Shot at the Night” last week, after revealing a lot of new information along the way. The news included two new songs and a greatest hits compilation titled, Direct Hits!,  in celebration of the tenth anniversary of the band.

“Shot at the Night” had been produced by electro-group, M83’s frontman Anthony Gonzalez; the second collaboration that the twosome had done. But for The Killers, having one electro-dude on the album was not enough. When the news surfaced about the compilation, the band released a track list for fans to look over and on it, there was a familiar name remixing one of their hit songs.

Calvin Harris had been tapped to remix the band’s hit song, “When You Were Young” from their second album, Sam’s Town. Harris has recently made a name for himself on top 20 radio stations thanks in part to his song, “I Need Your Love” featuring British singer, Ellie Goulding.

For now, you can listen to the mixed track here.

Direct Hits is set to be released on November 12, while “Shot at the Night” will officially be released as a single on November 4. Continue reading

The Killers Release ‘Shot at the Night’ Music Video

killers

Yesterday, we gave you guys a 17-second teaser from The Killers’ newest music video for “Shot at the Night,” the first single off of their greatest hits compilation, Direct Hits.

Today, like promised, the band have released the full music video for the song which features Bella Heathcote as a casino cleaning lady going through the motions of her everyday lief while Max Minghella, plays a guy that she almost hits with her car one evening.

The two have another run-in, this time Minghella persuades Heathcote’s character to blow off work for a day which she does. The two enjoy the entire day together with riding on a motorcycle, watching a poker game and eventually wrapping up at a typical Las Vegas wedding chapel watching happy couples tie the knot in typical Vegas fashion.

The band weren’t kidding when they said that the music video would be a nod to all the clichéd, cheesy things that make Las Vegas just that.

The Killers to Release Greatest Hits

thekillers

This year marks the tenth year anniversary of one of our personal favorite bands here, The Killers.

For some fans, it was probably inevitable that the band would be releasing greatest hits this year. For a little while now, there had been some talk that the band would be releasing a greatest hits album just in time for their tenth anniversary and it looks like talks were pretty accurate because they revealed earlier today that they would be dong just that.

In celebration of this momentous occasion, the band have decided to give fans their first greatest hits compilation which will be titled, Direct Hits.

The compilation will include two new songs one titled “Shot at the Night”and the other will be titled “Just Another Girl.” “Shot at Night” was produced by the mastermind behind the French electro-group, M83, Anthony Gonzalez. A music video for the song will be coming pretty soon according to some sources. The video will be directed by Robert Schober, who has previously worked with the guys on “I Feel It In My Bones” and “Cowboys’ Christmas Ball.”

The video will apparently touch on some of the most cliched things about Las Vegas such as Elvis impersonators, casinos and little white chapels like the one drummer Ronnie Vannucci used to work at in the good ol’ days.

Direct Hits will of course feature many of the band’s hit songs including “Mr. Brightside” and “Somebody Told Me” from their debut album Hot Fuss and “When You Were Young,” “Read My Mind” and “For Reasons Unknown” from 2006’s Sam’s Town.

Sadly, some of our favorite tracks like “Jenny Was a Friend of Mine” and “Human” will not be featured on the album, but that’s why we have also those albums in our possession.

Direct Hits is scheduled to drop on November 12.
