Grimes to Join Lana Del Rey and Courtney Love on Upcoming Tour

Forget about “Summertime Sadness,” this year is all about the Endless Summer frame of mind.

Late last year, Lana Del Rey revealed she would be heading out on a 17-date tour this Summer titled, what else, “The Endless Summer” tour in support of her recently released album, Ultraviolence.

The signer had also confirmed that Hole frontwoman Courtney Love would be joining her on several of the dates as her supporting act. Love had previously leaked the information in a Tweet to followers before the official announcement was made.

Today, singer Grimes confirmed on Instagram that she will be joining the “girl power” tour slated to begin this May.

The tour comes almost a year after the release of Del Rey’s last album, Ultraviolence which she will be supporting on this trek. Last December, Del Rey revealed she was currently in the process of writing music for a new album titled Honeymoon due out sometime this year. She told fans the record will be more like her debut album, Born to Die than Ultraviolence.

As for Grimes, the singer would have a new record to tour, but after fans voiced their displeasure after the first song was released, she scrapped the full album. Grimes also said that the album was “too depressing to tour.” Instead, she decided to head back into the studio to record new music which might be coming out way this year.

And Courtney Love, the musician has been busy with her acting career (FX’s Sons of Anarchy, FOX’s hit show Empire, and most recently ABC’s Revenge), but that doesn’t mean her music has taken a backseat. During the “Endless Summer” tour she will be promoting her latest solo effort, Died Blonde.

Marilyn Manson Joins Billy Corgan on Stage at Soundwave

image

After 15 years, Billy Corgan and Marilyn Manson have buried the Courtney Love-influenced hatchet that had both musicians hating each other for quite sometime.

As their olive branch last year, Manson joined Corgan on stage during a Smashing Pumpkins gig in London to perform “Ava Adore,” from the Smashing Pumpkins’ fourth album, Adore.

Now, it looks like Manson and Corgan are really trying to rekindle their friendship with Manson, once again, joining Corgan on stage during Soundwave this past weekend in Sydney, Australia.

Check out the fanshot video featuring Corgan and Manson singing “Ava Adore” for the huge crowd at the festival.

But it seems like Corgan and Manson aren’t the only ones burying the lengthy hatchet. Courtney Love posted a picture on Instagram with both men claiming that they were burying the hatchet as well.

With all three artists’ busy schedule, it’s a shock that they had time to be hating on each other.

Corgan the rest of The Smashing Pumpkin released the second installment of their Teargarden by Kaleidyscope trilogy, Monuments To An Elegy, on Dec. 9.

Manson released his new album, The Pale Emperor on Jan. 20 and headed out on his “Hell Not Hallelujah” tour which wrapped up in February. He also guest-starred in the final season of Sons of Anarchy.

Love also had a guest starring role on Sons of Anarchy which led to a crappy interaction during the season premiere party which quickly made headlines. We guess their hatchet for that was also buried. Love most recently guest-starred on FOX’s hit drama, Empire, where she played a druggy singer on the verge of losing her record contract.

UPDATE:

A day after Courtney love hinted at a tour with Lana Del Rey, the Hole singer and the “West Coast” songstress have unveiled their tour dates for the “Endless Summer” Tour which, like it was reported will begin at the Woodlands in Texas before kicking off the rest of the stadium sized event.

Full tour dates can be seen below.

It sounds like Courtney Love will be heading on a North American tour next year and with a special guest: Lana Del Rey.

Love has recently made headlines over the past couple of months for several things including her role in the final season of Sons of Anarchy and her recently defunct “feud” with Dave Grohl.

Now, the Hole singer has confirmed that she and Del Rey will be hitting the road next year. Love took to Twitter over the weekend to send Del Rey a message “about owning the town” with the hashtag, “excitingnews2come.”

Check out the post below.

Love has previously talked about collaborating with Del Rey and even Miley Cyrus, if they were interested, which would kind of explain this coupling for a tour.

“I am not pop, but I have a lot of friends on social media and friends who are pop stars,” she said in an interview back in July on an Australian radio show.

“There’s just not a lot of rock ‘n’ roll girls out there, so for whatever reason [pop stars] look up to me. And I have a distinctive voice and it might sound cool if it’s the right song.”

Maybe the right song will come from this partnership?

According to Pitchfork, the two musicians will head out on the “Endless Summer Tour” which will begin at the Woodlands Festival in Texas before hitting cities such as Dallas, Phoenix, Los Angeles, and several more.

Courtney Love to Appear in a “Non-Traditional Opera”

courtneyloove

Courtney Love and opera might be one of the most unlikely and strange things to be paired together, but it looks like the Hole frotnwoman will be appearing in an opera.

Love has been cast in an upcoming pop opera titled Kansas City Choir Boy. The show is scheduled to be performed 10 times during New York’s PROTOTYPE: Opera/Theater/Now Festival. The festival will take place from Jan. 8 to the 17.

“I love the concept, and I’m loving the music,” Love said in an interview with The New York Times.

“I’m playing it constantly. I’m looking to do things that are different. I just finished a rock tour of Australia, and it was great, but I’ve been doing that for a long time. I wanted to do something challenging.”

When asked about the opera, composer Todd almond assured the publication that he doesn’t mean old-school operas that we have become accustomed to, but rather a non-traditional popular music infused version.

“When I say opera. I don’t mean it’s in an operatic style,” he begins. “I mean it in a sense that it’s a group of songs that tell a story. I write musicals, I write plays, and I write what I call opera.”

Though there has been no official synopsis of the opera, a look at the website for the festival describes the opera as the following:

“A love song for the computer age and a product of the 24-hour news cycle that feds on the stories of the anonymous ‘missing.'”

Love’s most recent gig was playing the role of teacher Ms. Harrison during the final season of FX’s hit biker drama, Sons of Anarchy.

Kurt Cobain Biopic to Go into Production Next Year

image

Ever thought you’d see the day where Kurt Cobain’s life story would hit a screen near you? According to Courtney Love, that is in fact going to happen and the biopic on the late Nirvana frontman is slated to go into production next year.

In a recent interview with Philippine Daily Inquirer, Love revealed that she will be overseeing the film alongside her daughter with Cobain, Frances Bean and Cobain’s former Nirvana band mates, Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic.

Though the role of Cobain has not been cast yet, Love revealed that there are many candidtes for the iconic singer’s role. “I won’t name names because I don’t want to jinx it for anyone, but these are 25-year-olds who are blonde, gorgeous and the new Brad Pitts…some are really good actors, not just pretty face.”

However, Love did say that she would leave the decision to the casting directors whose job is to pick the best candidate.

“I don’t want t be the person who makes that decision. Let’s leave that to the agents; I have great agents now. But, I will have a say in it.”

Naturally.

As previously reported, Quantum of Solace director, Marc Forster and The Messenger’s Oren Moverman have been attached to the film. Whether or not that still holds true, there’s no definite answer.

But, apparently there’s a lot of Cobain to go around for Love; the Hole frontwoman has discussed a Cobain-inspired musical as well as a documentary, so just in case one doesn’t work out, there are many other ways to tell the story of Cobain.

Female Artists Come Together for School of Doodle

image

When we think of girl power, the first image that might come to mind are women fighting for equal rights because there should be equality for all women (and people in general).

But, what happens when you take some of the most powerful women from the rock world and get them together for a worthy cause? You get those women raising funds to help give girls a chance to excel in the arts.

Last week, a Kickstarter campaign was launched for School of Doodle, a new online high school for girls that seek to “activate girls’ imaginations through entertainment, education, and community.”

And the list of musicians who are involved will blow your mind. Courtney Love, Kim Gordon (formerly of  Sonic Youth), Yoko Ono, Sia, Cat Power, and Pussy Riot. Visual artist Jenny Holzer and actress Natasha Lyone have also been enlisted to help with the campaign.

The project seeks to raise $75,000 and to do so, they will be selling a collection of doodles and drawings by the musicians as well as other female artists and thinkers. The book is currently available with a $50 donation to the campaign.

“We are very specific in using the word ‘imagination’ and not ‘creativity,'” campaign creator Molly Logan said in an email sent to MTV about the project.

“We find that people interpret creativity as tied to art or learned skills while they all agree that imagination is something everyone has and takes many forms. Lessons will not be restricted to art and the development of the curriculum will be driven by our Doodle community and our teen board of directors.”

At present time, the campaign has raised $47,706 with 26 days left. If everything goes according to plan and the donation goals are met, the school will be opened by late 2014.

Courtney Love to Appear on ‘Sons of Anarchy’

image

Watch out Jax Teller, Courtney Love is coming to Charming.

It was confirmed today that the Hole frontwoman will be making an appearance on Sons of Anarchy this season, the show’s seventh and final season.

Love will play Ms. Harrison, the preschool teacher of Jax’s eldest son, Abel. According to reports, it’s a pivotal role and her debut is set to happen during the fourth episode of the season.

While this will be Love’s first dramatic TV role, it isn’t the frontwoman’s first acting gig. In 1997, she was nominated for a Golden Globe for her work in The People vs. Larry Flynt and even starred opposite Jim Carrey in 1999’s Man on the Moon.

Love won’t be the only rocking co-star to be appearing during FX’s  hit show’s swan song season. A couple of months ago, it was revealed that shock rocker, Marilyn Manson will also be set to appear on the show.

Manson, who is predominately known for his extreme performances and persona, will be playing Ron Tully, a white supremacist prison shot-caller who Jax uses to expand his power base.

While no specific dates have been given as to when either episodes are set to air, we can assume that it will be interesting to see these musicians take on role not quite like the ones they tend to portray on a stage.

Kurt Cobain Biographer Claims Courtney Love Wrote Wallet Letter

wpid-kurt-cobain-courtney-love-01

Last week, the Seattle Police Department made the full letter that was found in Kurt Cobain’s wallet following his death public. Up until that point, only a partial piece of the letter had been released, but following the new information, almost everyone is starting to wonder if the note had actually been written by the late Nirvana frontman.

The letter, according to Kurt Cobain biographer, Charles R. Cross, was actually written by the frontman’s wife, Courtney Love. Since his death, there has been a lot of speculation and crazy conspiracies that Love had been the one to kill Cobain; not a suicide like it was ruled.

The full letter seems to poke fun at their marriage which included more downs than up with the exception of the couple’s only daughter, Frances Bean. Many shook off the letter as the couple’s dark sense of humor, but according to The Guardian, Cross had confirmed that the letter was penned by Love.

According to Cross, Love herself, emailed him, admitting that she had been the one to write the quickly jotted down statement. Cross’ biography about the late rocker, Heavier Than Heaven was released back in 2001. Love was recently seen with former Nirvana members Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic when the iconic grunge band was finally inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last month.

Courtney Love Reunites with Original Hole Line-Up

hole

Hole fans, it might be time to break out all the grunge because it looks like frontwoman Courtney Love has announced that she is getting the band back together.

But before you think that it would just be a knock-off version of the 90s band, Love has revealed that the line-up will include the original members. Seems like the members which include Love, bassist Melissa Auf Der Maur, guitarist Eric Erlandson and drummer Patty Schemel managed to get their stuff together and put their difference behind them to go on and record a new album.

The band officially disbanded back in 2002, but managed to come back together for a one-off gig in Brooklyn back in 2012. Their last album was 1998’s Celebrity Skin.

In an interview with The Quietus, Love revealed that she recently “started playing with Patty and Melissa and Eric, just to see how that was. We already played like three or four times in the last week.”

Right now, there is no word on whether or not the classic line-up will be joining Love on her upcoming UK tour or if they will help her with the recording of her still-in-the-works studio album. Even if that isn’t the case, some fans can’t help but connect the fact that this “reunion” of sorts is happening right around the time that their breakthrough album, Live Through This, celebrates its 20th anniversary which is this month.

Fall Out Boy Release “Rat A Tat” Music Video

Fall Out Boy Visits fuse

Fall Out Boy released the trailer to their new music video for “Rat A Tat” yesterday afternoon, letting fans know that the official video will debut today.

The ninth installation of their Youngblood Chronicles begins with some random scene flashing on an old television eventually leading to Courtney Love preaching through a blow horn to a room full of women who are all chanting, “Rat-A-Tat” and apparently hate music by the way they’re destroying instruments. The mad women go on to capture frontman Patrick Stump and have him connected to an electric chair, forcing him to watch a set of random scenes.

What exactly did these four guys do to piss these women off?

As of now, there are only two songs remaining from 2013’s Save Rock and Roll before the short film-like video comes to a close which they began over a year ago. Who’s betting the final video will debut once their “Monumetour” with Paramore finishes at the end of the Summer?

If you need to catch up with the story, head on over to Fall Out Boy’s YouTube page for all the videos from The Youngblood Chronicles.
